In March 2022 cancer stole my 18 year old son Milo from me, my wife Alana, and my older son Max. We eventually began compiling a list of Things Milo Loved. We have opened the document to many people who knew and loved Milo and it now includes more than a thousand items. We figured that we could share the spirit of this list with an even wider audience by using it as the basis for a podcast about Milo. The result is this podcast, Milo Time. On this podcast, my super-talented co-host Lisa Cohen and I highlight some of Milo's favorite things; those things help us all keep our amazing Milo in our hearts, on our minds, and on the tips of our tongues. Upper West Side of Manhattan, Henry Hillman, Feedback for Alana and me concerning Milo's name in public, Constant challenge is common conceptions of what grief looks like and how it evolves, Tremendous variation in how people grieve, Stages of grief or scientific formula for grief is very upsetting, as no such formula exists, Different reactions from different people in our community, For some hearing a child's name is lovely, while for others it sounds awful, Karen Goodman, so smart and thoughtful, provides her daughter Ashley's name, Donna Dunkelman, also so smart and thoughtful, feels that providing her son's name would be horrifying, The idea of a formula is concocted to make people feel "better", but is really more of a wish, Matters evolve but our DNA has been reordered and we will never be the same, Matters will evolve unpredictably, Alana and I are aligned, Our brains want answers (like with The Sopranos), I will be different in three years, but I'll never be the same person I was, The pain will not be "solved" or mitigated, Everyone's experience is different, Tyson Chandler, 2016 or 2017 Christmas break vacation in Phoenix, Pat, Julie, Hannah, and James, Nantucket and Phoenix, Phoenix Suns basketball game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Very bad Phoenix Suns team, Devin Booker was on the team, So many of us at the game were big sports fans, but there was a play at the end of the game that was surprising to us, Suns down 1 and inbounded to Tyson Chandler for an alley-oop, Goran Dragic or Devin Booker may have inbounded, Inbounds pass was in the cylinder when caught, We did not now whether the basket should count, We learned a new rule, Suns ran a similar play against the LA Clippers in the playoffs a few years later, Deandre Ayton scored that time, Milo loved the game and the puzzle, We all learned something
