Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Garfield Bowen.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a plumber? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Adam Swartz, with Dreamland Plumbing. Adam, how are you doing today?

Speaker 3:

Fantastic. How are you?

Speaker 2:

I am fine, Listen, Adam. We're excited to learn all about you and your company. Tell us about your business.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, we're local. We're Port St Lucie, so we're native to the area, family-owned and operated Not the biggest company around, but we are eight or nine tech strong, Good, solid business. We love helping our neighbors out, of course, and taking care of you know people in Port St Lucie. That's what we do.

Speaker 2:

So tell us, how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

So I've been plumbing for over 15 years. My grandfather was a plumber kind of runs in the family and yeah, we just kind of went with that and always loved business in general. So always been an entrepreneur as well. And yeah, what better thing to do than you know, bring passions together and and start a plum business.

Speaker 2:

so that's what we did so what are some of the myths and misconceptions of your industry?

Speaker 3:

um, well, that's hard to say. Um, I would say misconception is probably. I guess it's like a lot of people say it's hard to find a good plumber. I would say that's probably a misconception. There's a lot of good ones around. We've got a whole staff of great plumbers. So I would say that's definitely a misconception. I haven't really heard any myths floating around that I'm aware of, but maybe there's something out there that I don't know well, um so, adam, when you're not busy running your business what do you like to?

Speaker 3:

have fun um, actually like play golf. Um, and I would say, most of my time I would say almost all of my time when I'm not running the business and and actually out in the field, I'm spending time with my wife and my uh, daughter, which is that's actually my favorite thing to do so um hang out my daughter. She's about a year and a half old, so she's the highlight of my life.

Speaker 2:

I can understand that. What's your famous? What's your best golf player? I mean, you said you like golf, any player you? I don't understand.

Speaker 3:

Well, I would say, favorite would probably be Tiger Woods, I mean, I guess he's probably everybody's favorite, and I know he's not as good as he was, but he's getting older. So yeah, man, no one can swing like him.

Speaker 2:

Let's change gears a little bit. Life often does us curveballs. Let's talk about one hardship, one challenge, something that you went through. You can look back today and see you're better and stronger because of it.

Speaker 3:

What comes to mind, um, well, I mean so, right before we started this company, um, I was working at another company I won't say names, of course but, um, they were changing their pay structure and I would say at the time it seemed like almost like the end of the world, um, but actually one that being a blessing, um, because it's what kind of pushed me into starting my own company, and that's been a great thing, you know.

Speaker 2:

So you need a little motivation, huh A little bit of motivation.

Speaker 3:

You always make the bills, of course, so it was scary. You know it's always scary taking that leap of faith, you know, but it definitely worked out for the best and couldn't be happier with the results so far. And, like I said, it's awesome to be able to help our neighbors out and you know, we can make some money doing it too, so it works out well.

Speaker 2:

Listen, adam, I know you have a lot to share about your business, but I want to put you on the spot a little bit there. I want you to narrow it down to one thing, one thing that you want our listeners to remember about Dreamland Plumbing.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. So if there's one thing I would like my listeners to remember, would be that we actually care about our customers. So at the end of the day, no matter what yeah, we do need to make money, but it always comes down to what's best for the customer. All of our plumbers are tested that way. We make sure that we hire nothing but the best and we make sure that that is their priority. At the end of the day, it's always about the homeowner and what's best for them.

Speaker 2:

A lot of my listeners own homes and they're probably thinking about a leaky pipe. You know the toilet that's not going down the way it's supposed to. And there's one word on their lips right now, and that's how. How do you get more information on Dreamland Plumbing?
