Speaker 2:

Hi everyone and welcome to episode number 97 of the Good Neighbor podcast. Today we have with us good neighbor Jim Simpson, and he is with Jay Simpson and Associates. How are you doing today, jim?

Speaker 3:

I'm doing great, thank you. How about yourself?

Speaker 2:

I'm doing really good. Thank you for being a guest on our podcast.

Speaker 3:

Well, I appreciate it.

Speaker 2:

So why don't we first start off by you telling us about your business? What do you do?

Speaker 3:

Well, my business is Jay Simpson and Associates and my primary role today is one of my sub businesses, which is ForeverGuard. Foreverguard is a company that we have a line of cleaning sanitizing products that protect your car, your RV, your home, your boat or Anything else you want protected with our. When we add our primary product, titania, the Area that we clean will stay that good and for up to five years.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's great. Tell our listeners about your journey. How did you get started?

Speaker 3:

Well, I was in the retail car business Excuse me for 47 years. I Started as a part-time file clerk when I was in college and I worked my way through the system. I was a service manager for 18 years and a general manager for 21 of one of the biggest Chrysler dealers in the country and as part of that journey I was a partner in a dealership in Atlanta and I got a call three years ago from that partner and saying Jim, you've got to look at this company. They've got great products. There's nothing like it. So I got involved in I was one of the founding partners of the ForeverGuard company.

Speaker 2:

Oh wow, that is good. Good to hear that. So can you tell us about any myths or misconceptions that you hear about in your, in your industry?

Speaker 3:

Well, there's a lot of different companies in the industry, and One of the issues that gives me the most heartache is that our products actually work. They last for a long time. Everything that we have is biodegradable and safe for humans and pets, and it's just hard for people to believe that they can get a cleaning product that'll last five years and is also safe to use.

Speaker 2:

It'll last five years. Is that what you said? Yes, and in some environments it'll last up to 12. That's a. That's great. That's a great product. You're not working on your business. What do you like to do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Well, I'm a boater, I have a small cruiser I keep on Lake St Clair. I belong to the poor man Jack Club and the Dearborn Power and Sales Squadron. So in my spare time, both summer and winter, most of it is a lot of work I spent with my boating friends and doing something having to do with boating and we had the privilege of being on your boat this summer, so I appreciate you letting us do that.

Speaker 2:

Thank you.

Speaker 3:

It was a beautiful night on the water.

Speaker 2:

It was. It was. Can you describe one hardship or life challenge that you rose above and can now say Because of that challenge that you're better for it and are stronger?

Speaker 3:

We know they say there's a silver lining in every cloud and when I was 50 I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. I had major surgery. I had six months of chemotherapy. It took years for me to completely heal from that. Fortunately that was a long time ago and I've had no reoccurrence. But the silver lining is that I really appreciate every day, because I feel now every day is a bonus and I try to make the most of each day I have.

Speaker 2:

That is an amazing story and I am so glad to hear that you are doing much better. What is one thing you wish our listeners knew about your business?

Speaker 3:

The business is only three years old. We have partners in six states now and we're doing some major work at some of the big companies. But I'm the retail guy. I like to use the product and I actually apply it myself. I do have other people working for me that can do it, but I enjoy doing it. What I want, what I like them to understand, is that If they want to protect, let's say, your car, for example, if I sprayed the car with my titanium product for five years, it's going to stay clean. It's going to be very hard, for nothing will stick to it. The dirt comes right off in a car wash, bird droppings, tree sap, everything comes right off. The product works. I've had it on my car for three years. I've got 250,000 miles on the car and if you look at it you think it just came out of the showroom. It's just hard for people to believe that a product is that good and can last that long. But it does. That is a great product. So now our listeners are totally intrigued here.

Speaker 2:

How that can they contact you or get their hands on this product?

Speaker 3:

Well, the product has to be installed by a professional. You have to have specific special equipment. They can. They should go to my website forever guard calm to learn about the product, but they can contact me at Jim s 3410 at gmailcom or call me at 810 533 3410.
