This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Lisa Swiftney.
Speaker 2:Hi everyone, and welcome to episode number 122 of the Good Neighbor Podcast. I'm so excited to have my good friend, christy Zambas, with me today, and we're going to talk about something very near and dear to her heart that's coming up soon, so it's an event that you're doing. So, christy, tell us a little bit about your event. What's the name of it and why are you doing it?
Speaker 3:Yeah, thank you, I'm super excited. So it is called Fight or Night Ignite your Passion Within. It is an event that is geared towards high school girls and older and the women that inspire them. So it could be mom, sister, grandma, aunt, cousin, best friend or just simply a mentor that's in their life that really inspires and empowers them. I'm super excited it is geared to.
Speaker 3:There's kind of a whole bunch of different things that we're trying to incorporate into it. So one we have team speakers that are going to be talking about adversities they face in their lives and how they've overcome it. We have women that are going to be speaking about sisterhood and friendship and body image and self image and mindset and just all the different things to really bridge that gap and how to support women starting at a younger age. So we really want to hone into that. And then we're going to have mother and daughter duos that are going to be talking about their relationship, how they bridge the gap to really create an open line of communication and build a strong foundation in their relationship. And we are going to have vendors on staff that will be or on site that will be talking or sharing their products and services.
Speaker 3:But then we also have business women that are going to be talking about their businesses how they got into it what they, what the day-to-day looks like, how you can get into it as a young teen, what the options and opportunities are, as well as what different things, all the way from multi-level marketing up to CEO, doctor level status for individuals that will have there.
Speaker 2:Oh, that's amazing. So what's the passion behind it? Why did you decide to put this together?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so great story and great question. So it actually was inspired from my daughter. I do a lot of events that help to empower women and I sit in and a lot of these events and a lot of the common thing that we hear in these events is I wish I would have had something like this when I was younger. I wish I would have known I got into the corporate world and decided to go entrepreneurial I have a hard time with that word, but go into the entrepreneurial world and they start one way and they end up in a completely different field or line of work or passion. And I came home after one of the events.
Speaker 3:I was talking to my husband and my daughter about one of the exercises that we did and it was so incredibly powerful Not going to share it on here because we're actually going to do it at the event. It was incredibly powerful and my daughter said she would love to get up and tell her story on a stage one day. She's had a lot of medical issues from the day she was born and her story is very inspiring and empowering. From freshman year to junior year she's missed over 300 days of school from her medical condition. She's really had a lot of different things with friendships and being able to go out and do things like a normal teenage girl. She's just been hindered in so many different areas.
Speaker 3:So I thought it was a great idea to get her on stage. But also, in my mind, how do you get a 16-year-old she's now 17, on stage in front of 40-year-old women to tell a story and inspire them, right, mama brain went into like full and like how do I make this happen for her? So I decided to create this event to really bring her in front of peers her age and allow them to tell their story, and or her to tell them her story and just kind of how she's overcome it. And now we are at three incredible young girls that have amazing stories that I'm super excited for them to be able to share.
Speaker 2:That is awesome. That's going to be an amazing event. So what are you looking for right now to help with the event? Do you still have vendor opportunities? Are you still looking for sponsors? Yes, yeah.
Speaker 3:So we always have vendor and sponsor opportunities, so we are looking for if there is anyone that wants to get in front of these girls. We do have a pretty incredible lineup of women that are coming to share their business and what they do. We have boutiques I do the hair school coming. We have military. We've got entrepreneurial entrepreneurs from every multiple different kind of industry. So we're looking for women that really want to share their business. I've got someone that's an hvac business owner. She's a female. It's amazing to see somebody in a trade that's there. So there are so many cool women that are going to be on sites.
Speaker 3:We're always looking for more women that want to share their businesses, what they do, how they got into it, what the opportunities are. We're looking for vendors always as well, so anyone that wants to come and share their products. But our biggest thing right now is sales. We are looking for the girls and their moms or women in their lives that we can get. Get to come to this event. It is an allday event. We are going to have a continental breakfast and a taco bar lunch and we will have that. So it's nine to five and we're just looking to fill the seats now and get the girls in there and give them the opportunity to be able to talk to some incredible women and listen to some incredible women.
Speaker 2:Amazing. So how do they get tickets to attend your event so?
Speaker 3:there is an Eventbrite link and because I decided why not do all of the things all at one time? I'm going on vacation next week, so we created a code. It's enjoy vacation and it will give $15 off for a ticket. So there is an event right link that they can go to to get the tickets and if you use enjoy vacation, you'll get $15 off while we are on vacation. Oh how fun.
Speaker 2:We will share that link, um, at the bottom of the podcast so everyone can click on that link to purchase a ticket. So we know how, how to get tickets If they want to be a vendor or sponsor the event. How do we get in front of business owners? What do they need to do?
Speaker 3:So the business owners just need to actually reach out to me directly and I can get them set up with everything. So if they reach out to me, we can get the contact information for that as well. Cell phone is always available. I'll give it right now if anybody wants to write it down. But you can put it in there too. But cell phone is 586-747-8190. It is attached to my hip. It's always in front of me. It's literally going off as you sit here and speak. So anyone is available to call at any time.
Speaker 2:Okay, perfect. Well, chrissy, thank you for taking some time out of your busy day before your vacation so that we can do this podcast and get this out in the hands of women, business owners and teenagers. To come to the event Really quick too.
Speaker 3:I just want to share. It is October 20th. From nine to five. It is a Sunday. We did this intentionally because we do know there are a lot of girls that are very active, involved in sports and dance and all the different things. So Sunday seems to be the best day and it is at the Vintage House in Fraser. So just so everybody knows that, the date and location, and it's from nine to five.
Speaker 2:Great Vintage House is a great place as well, so thank you so much for being a guest today. I appreciate you.
Speaker 3:Absolutely, thank you.
