In this episode, Michelle is joined by pediatric eating disorder therapist Johanna Kulp (she/her). Michelle and Johanna talk about breaking generational patterns of disordered eating and toxic diet culture, the role of attachment in our relationship with food and body, and tackle the multilayered question: How do I forgive my mom for hating her body? which involves understanding family dynamics, the role that individuals play in the family, our relationship with anger and with joy, and reconnecting to both in a way that feels safe and supportive.

Johanna Kulp, MSW, LCSW is founder and part owner of Live Well Therapy Associates, a Philadelphia based outpatient group practice that focuses on helping individuals who struggle with eating disorders, attachment issues, and trauma.  She has her master’s in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. Johanna has over 15 years of experience helping those in eating disorder recovery and is trained in various cognitive and experiential interventions to help her clients find healing.  She utilizes a Health at Every Size and fat positive informed approach in all of her work. She is also a speaker and author where she uses her platform to discuss the intricacies and complexities of eating disorder recovery across the lifespan.
