Speaker 1:

Happy Hunk Day. Everyone always screws it up and says Hump Day, there's no P, it's an N Hunk Day. If you are a Hunkette, then it's a Hunkette Day. Today is going to be a very short podcast, probably one of our shortest ones, because I'm enlisting your help by reaching out to us at info at showoffitnesscom. You can DM us on Instagram, tiktok, qualified Personal Trainers Community on Facebook and let us know how we can help you as the new trainer, as a trainer who's been in the game for five years, for 10 years Maybe it's business advice how to navigate the landscape in the corporate gym setting.

Speaker 1:

What are you struggling with? I'm looking at a quote on our board here in Cinemonica. It's one of my favorite quotes. Now I put it into my e-book that I'm about to launch for getting anyone to pass their level zero certification. We've helped over 5,000 people pass these. It's simple. Now, a year later, you're not going to be training if you stick that route. Level zero search don't do shit for your career. You got to gain the hands-on experience Weekend seminars.

Speaker 1:

That's why we're going to see you in Chicago the 27th and 28th of July and this one is going to be our best one yet. I know, chris, you belt buckle hunk. You say that every single time. But how cool is this? We have a partnership with Lifetime. They accept our certification. We can go to their amazing facilities once per month. They get X amount of tickets to our seminars.

Speaker 1:

The first one in Miami one trainer showed up. The second one in Miami one trainer showed up. The second one in Sacramento three trainers showed up. Then we went to New Jersey seven trainers showed up. Now we've already hit the capacity for Chicago. We're not allowing any more lifetime trainers to go. We hit the max spot at 15. We're going to have 15 slots available for show up.

Speaker 1:

If you work at Lifetime and you're in the area and you want to attend, it's $599. We have $50 payment plans. If you say that's too expensive, I'm going to bet you're not going to make it very far in this career as a trainer. Your continuing education in the level one specialties are what's really going to separate you from the average textbook trainer. 50 bucks is two Manhattans here in Santa Monica. I do that weekly.

Speaker 1:

If you cannot make it to Chicago, we will be in Dallas the 30th and 31st of August. We're going to be in Toronto, north Carolina, vegas, looking in Denver, oregon. If you want to work at a lifetime, go back through the podcast. We have numerous ones helping you with the practical. We can get you hired there. Talk to your management, get us into that location and you can attend for free. Otherwise $5.99. We have discounts, payment plans. The seminars are the way to go. If you cannot come to LA or San Diego for the two-month in-person CPT program, that's the best. You're going to be there every single day learning from an instructor. You will level up your game to truly become that 1%. But if you can't come out to LA or San Diego, that's why we're online.

Speaker 1:

As we expand into new markets and I continue to partner with gyms, we're not just focusing strictly on lifetime, I'm reaching out to any and every gym because the industry is a clusterfuck, and I put that into my book and I highlight it in big bold letters. I know it's supposed to be out but we keep on getting little editing mistakes from the publishing house, from Amazon. Don't go through them, they suck. We're hoping to get a refund because it's been that terrible of an experience, but it's like we're so far in the process. If we take everything back it's like we're starting at step one. It has been a nightmare but we're still pushing forward. Chicago is when we want to have the workbook style book finished. We are crossing our fingers, hoping that happens.

Speaker 1:

Really enjoyed connecting with recruiters at Lifetime and talking to people at Crunch within the level two. So once you get your CPT, even if you have another certification like your NASM, ace, issa, I don't give a shit what certification you have, I just like making fun of them. People are so delicate today, oh, you're making fun of NASM. I'm making fun of everyone. I are so delicate today, oh, you're making fun of NASA. I'm making fun of everyone. I grew up with three brothers. Relax, your certification is no better than the next textbook certification.

Speaker 1:

What are you doing to continue your knowledge? Continually learning from therapists and doctors and registered dietitians. And if you're not, that's the issue with the industry you are not representing a qualified personal trainer. So you need to level up and go through a program where you really understand your anatomy. Last night I was working out with Arash and Craig, with the prehab guys. Their facility is amazing. I'm learning from them.

Speaker 1:

If I didn't understand anatomy and movement as your typical trainer, having a conversation with a couple hunks from USC oh, rotator cuff, what is that? Oh, you're super papatus. Is it a major, minor and external? They're going to look at me and be like this guy has no idea what the hell he's talking about. That's your typical trainer. Some bro who's all jacked up with humongous biceps and calves doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. We're not going to network, we're not going to send you clients because we're not on the same level. So trainers need to level up and it begins with anatomy. On our level two, we have programming calls with Katie. We have advanced anatomy with Travis. We have corrective exercise and soft tissue mobilizations with Josh, social media three streams of revenue with me and Danny. And then we have Mel, the registered dietitian. She takes you through case examples every other week. Our level two is really leveled up and we're excited to get that out there and we're going to have a certification for it. We're just working on the legalities and it's really going to be primed with the weekend seminars.

Speaker 1:

We are growing. How are we growing? Take a step back. Every month, we do a SWIFT. Every quarter, we do a SWIFT. What are our strengths, what are our weaknesses? What can we improve and implement, innovate? Where are we fearful? What are our threats? What's our trajectory in the future? Who are we surrounding ourselves with? That's your table, and by doing this regularly, with a great team that we're surrounding ourselves with, we are growing and it's really neat to see. We now have a level zero with classes with NASM and ACE instructors who are helping you pass those. If you can't get a refund, we're going to get more instructors on there so we can continue to grow internationally. Our level one we have new instructors with Adam and Carlos and Tyson. We have other ones that are taking people through the CPT program. It's really neat to see their growth trajectory and it begins with you. So how can I, the owner and creator of Show Up Fitness, help you become a better trainer If you are in the program, ask questions, get into the qualified personal trainers community.

Speaker 1:

Ask questions. Where are you at? What are things that are scaring you? What are those ants? Automatic negative thoughts.

Speaker 1:

Do you have an interview? Let's go through your resume, but don't just reach out if you've never talked to an instructor or been in a live call or you aren't in the level one. You need to have some skin in the game. We can get you hired anywhere. That's easy. Now you passing the interview process. That's up to you.

Speaker 1:

I can give you a ton of pointers, like yesterday on a call, someone was asking common questions that may be asked during the interview, at Crunch, and one of them may be how much money do you want to make here? And I thought that was a great question because the simple answer would be a number. I want to make $100,000. I want to make $6,000 per month. But you need to reflect for a second Anytime you get stumped in an interview process. Just smile. That's a great question. Do you mind if I take a minute to think about it?

Speaker 1:

And if you came prepared, you'll have a piece of paper, pencil, doodle, make some drawings, draw me with giant biceps, with a belt buckle and just calm down. Take some big deep breaths. Five seconds in, hold five seconds out. Kind of reset your system. Make it more parasympathetic. Build that confidence. Don't let there be any wrinkles on the front of your shirt. Really draw those shoulder blades back. You are awesome.

Speaker 1:

And you look at them in the eye and you say who is the most successful personal trainer you've ever coached and why is that? And let them talk how much money did they make? And then you're going to say I like game shows, like the price is right. I'm going to go a dollar more because I'm going to be the most successful trainer at this gym and someone that you've mentored. I'm a competitive individual. If they made $133,000, I'm going to make $134,000. I'm going to make $135,000. I'm going to do a stretch goal. I'm going to do $160,000 because I'm competitive, but I know how to manage my life. But I need a marker there. They are going to be wowed by that response.

Speaker 1:

Most people are going to say $100,000. Why? Why do you want to make $8,300 per month? Why not $9,000? Why not $10,000? Why do we have these arbitrary numbers without any meaning? That answer would work, maybe more for an extrovert. If you're more of an introvert. Use some emotion. I want to make $7,200 per month. Why do you want to make $7,200? Because that is the most money anyone has ever made in my family, and I didn't go to college and I want to be the most successful, so that number has a lot of meaning to me.

Speaker 1:

Use some emotional aspects to the interview. You're going to be really jerking at those heartstrings and they may even cry. That's great. Ask amazing questions, show up an hour early, look at your competition. These are all things that we coach, show up fitness CPTs through and that's why we become the top trainers the top trainers in the area, in the district, in the whole company. The example we used in class it's like you were number one in high school where you're going to college now you want to be number one on that team, but you also want to be number one in the nation player of the year, get into management, go to that next level, start your own gym. These are things we want to continue to help trainers succeed with. It takes time.

Speaker 1:

Our vision is the change to fitness industry and we're doing an amazing job, but we can always do better. As it says on the board do hard, better. So how can we double down? Quadruple down with content creation videos I know the audio production it's not amazing, the video production isn't amazing Costs a lot of money. I'm all about speed. That's the quantity. The quality is improving. We're not just turning a blind eye to that. It's about getting shit done and improving.

Speaker 1:

If you reflect back on the last four years of the online program, we used to have what's called Patreon and that absolutely sucked compared to what we have now. And when we look back four years in the future on today, we're gonna say the platform we have now sucks because we're constantly improving. You have to have a little bit of empathy, but don't lower your standards. That's the second quote on our board. So I want to know how we can level you up. What are you investing into to become a better trainer, a better person? Are sales really bringing you down? Is it the people skills? What are you hung up on Organizational stuff? What is content that I can provide, that our team can provide, to help you help more people? Put these comments into the qualified personal trainers community. Share this into your story on Instagram.

Speaker 1:

Let people know on TikTok how you got your start, whether, if it was the book you came across how to Become a Successful Personal Trainer, volume 1. Maybe it was a YouTube video. You need to be proactive, letting other people know, because ultimately, if you don't, here's the thing that kills me on a daily basis. When I go to seminars and someone says I came across you from a YouTube video drinking whiskey, everyone laughs. I kick myself in the ass because I say, motherfucker, what if I would have made 10 more of those? What if I would have done hard, better and got out of my comfort zone and let those ants take over? Because it happens I would have had 10 times more people in front of me who would be qualified trainers, helping clients and changing the way and the perception that trainers are looked upon. That is what eats at me on a daily basis. So for you as the trainer, if you're not creating content, letting people know there is an alternative way to level zero certifications, you are part of the problem as well. Telling people to go get their NAS on their fucking ACE, issa, whatever it is, that does not set people up for success. It's a textbook. Imagine becoming the world's greatest cyclist by reading a book.

Speaker 1:

We are a performance industry. We work with our hands. We observe people moving and tactilely get involved, yet the process doesn't challenge that. You literally answer questions. Your client has upper cross syndrome. What muscles is your foam roll and stretch? Yeah, because that's fucking correct. Scaring your clients, giving them a cross syndrome or telling them that they're obese and they need to be focusing on this? No, we are pro movement. We help people feel better and look better, and aspiring trainers need to learn about better processes.

Speaker 1:

Getting into a program where you can follow on-demand videos, step one, two, asking questions to actual trainers that's what we have with our live calls. They're recorded if you can't watch them. That's why they're on demand within the app. Number three, showcasing your competency in movement, the eight core movement patterns a squat, a hinge, a unilateral transitional vertical push and pull, horizontal push and pull. Can you do those simple movements of which exercises you enjoy? You submit those and then you also send in programming Three workouts for a week male and a female hunk and hunkette and then you take your exam to showcase you are competent in having a conversation around anatomy, those core movement patterns, and designing a program on the spot. Now you're going to be able to go to a Lifetime, a Crunch, an Equinox and absolutely fucking crushed the interview Because level zero certifications. Guess what they do? They fail that interview, so then they have to go to a lower tier gym and they gain experience without supervision.

Speaker 1:

Most quit, they point a finger at Big Brother and say it's not fair. I don't make any money. You are not a competent, qualified individual. I'm sorry. You passed a fucking test. Imagine any other career. I'm a doctor. I passed a test. You want to let me do eye surgery on you? Give me that fucker. Yeah right, that would never happen. Wonder why we are looked at as a joke of an industry Because we are not putting our big boy pants and girl pants on and we're not doing hard better.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to post that video. It's going to give you goosebumps. That's the motivation behind today's podcast. I said it was going to be quick because I want you to get involved. I'm challenging you to level up so the industry levels up by letting people know that you're going through the process or you enjoyed this about the process Challenging all these level zero trainers and their textbook. It's more reasonable to go through Show Up Fitness $4.99 as of quarter two in July. In quarter three we're going to up the price, because we can, because we are showcasing. The proof is in the pudding. When you go through the program, you are basically getting the Mario star and skipping levels. You're on level four, level zero. Trainers won't make it past level zero and how sad is that. They're never going to meet Yoshi. I'm aging myself. If you never played those Mario Brothers and the Game Boy and all that stuff, y'all have an amazing fucking day. Look in the mirror, smile, get your clients to smile, flex, flex the calves and, remember, keep showing up.
