Season 3 Episode 8 - How Crossfit Training Helps PTSD

Sgt Johnny Hunka is currently a sergeant within the Patrol Division with Truro Police Service.

Johnny was diagnosed with PTSD in 2019 after a train incident.

He is a trainer for R2MR ( road to mental health readiness ) - a trainer with the department of justice in officers responding to mental illness, as well a trained member of Critical Incident Debriefing  which helps members recently involved with traumatic incidents which is the first step of getting help  

He credits CrossFit for saving his life.  He fell in love with the sport soon after the academy where he learned the benefits of functional training

Johnny has traveled abroad with the sport competing, for 2nd in the world police fire games in LA in 2017 in the CrossFit division put on by Crossfit HQ.

He was awarded the medal of bravery for carrying a woman out of a burning building which he credits CrossFit for getting him and the lady he carried out.
