Exploring the Intersection of Core Values and Accountability
Ever wondered how your core values intersect with everyday accountability? How they guide you through life's myriad transitions, or even the role they play in your relationships? Well, that's precisely what we unravel in this thought-provoking conversation. From our personal stories of adapting to civilian life post-military, to the unwavering support we extend to veterans grappling with mental health, we've discussed it all!
Accountability, as we've learned, is a core value - one that manifests differently in each of our lives. Whether it be a last-minute text to a spouse or a flash of inspiration from a social media post, accountability takes many forms. Yet, at its root, it’s about recognizing and aligning our core values, and setting healthy boundaries. It's about trusting our intuition, embracing change, and using our values to navigate life's transitions.
And while we're on the topic of values, let's delve into their evolution. Through our own experiences, we've come to understand that questioning societal norms helps us better comprehend our own beliefs. We also explore the importance of diverse perspectives and role models in shaping our values and paving our own paths. So, if you're up for some self-reflection and a fresh outlook on core values, accountability, and personal growth, tune in and join the conversation!
Clear eyes.
Speaker 2:Full boots.
Speaker 1:Hey everybody, what's up? Kyle and KZ?
Speaker 2:More people get their voice out there than I think they'll realize. We're all the same.
Speaker 1:KZ decided to f*** and took the bait. Veteran Veteran Veteran chat project, when it's encouraged to not be okay all the time. Hey, what's up everybody. It's Kyle KZ. What's up everybody. It's a fabulous Friday night edition of Veteran chat project. It's good to see you all, it's good to be seen and it's just good to be. We had to adjust fire, as we do sometimes. We had a guest that we had lined up. We think that the Army drugged him on his way out. We're just going to go with his Army withdrawal. He's got a tummy bug. We'll get him next week.
Speaker 2:Fed tracks.
Speaker 1:When you spend 20 years in the Army, you try to get out there like f***. No bitch, Stay here. Here's your tummy bug. I don't know why I keep using that word.
Speaker 2:I like it, though. I like it though A tummy bug.
Speaker 1:Max got a tummy bug dude, so you guys get us tonight. So yeah, what's new? How's your week?
Speaker 2:Good, dude, it's been pretty like work wise. I don't know who cares about work. Family's been good. Family's got grandparents left the day before yesterday, so I got the house, getting the house back in order, not that it was messed up, but just getting everything back to like our routine, kind of Okay, yeah, back in the flow we mowed. Oh, dude, keep talking about keeping ourselves accountable. I was randomly going through social media last night and I just like ran across all, like you know, mutual friends and family members that were just like working out and I was like f***, this man. And I texted my wife and it sounds really bad, but if you know you know, if you know my wife and I's relationship, you'll understand why, like, my text message was so blunt. But I was like hey, tomorrow I'm starting to, I'm hitting the garage again, I'm getting back to it, I don't care, I said. I said I don't care if you doubt me, because he likes to poke fun at me a lot. So I was like I don't care if you doubt me.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's funny. I know my wife likes to do that shit too. But like out of out of goodness, do you freeze again? Gosh, dang, there he is.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so there he is, yeah.
Speaker 1:What's going on? Is it your internet or is it my internet?
Speaker 2:No, it's me, dude, it's me. I got this little one.
Speaker 1:Will.
Speaker 2:You got me.
Speaker 1:No, barely how you going. Well, hey, everybody, what's up? It's Kyle and a blank spot. That's all right, he'll be right back. He's gonna jump on his phone. We'll keep it rolling. So, yeah, man, it's been a good week for me as well. My mom is in town. She came in for my birthday week. They're actually getting ready to head out in the morning, so, yeah, they'll be driving back to Missouri. I need this dude to get back on, so after these messages will be right back. There's my guy. Looks like you just screamed off some rage. Those of you that don't know the internet is seemingly against us having a successful show.
Speaker 2:So yeah, but I'm back.
Speaker 1:There she is.
Speaker 2:Yeah, what I was trying to say earlier. I was like, yeah, like keeping myself accountable. Got back in the gym today like set the dumbbells out, got the bike out, did like you know, did a little like 15 minute and wrap and like just went, ham in my life, Join me. It was super cool, Super dope. And then after that, after I was like super exhausted. Yeah the wife was like hey, let's move the yard. I was like God damn it.
Speaker 1:Nice.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's been a. It's been a. It's been a pretty good week so far. It's a good good Friday and in the work week I'm ready to create a hit, hit the weekend and not do shit.
Speaker 1:But you was good. I was telling our two listeners while you were off. My mom is in town, so they came in. Her and her husband came in I want to say Wednesday. So we went out, did some fishing and hanging out yesterday James Town Resvore out in Jamestown, north Dakota, did some fishing, did some fucking throwing some rocks in the lake with my kid and had a picnic. Had a good day. Went today to shout him out real quick Drecker brewing in Fargo, north Dakota, aka brew holla place. It's a fucking blast here. I love it there. This hat.
Speaker 1:I couldn't walk away from the hat. My wife's like you got too many hats. I'm like, yeah, but yeah, yeah. As soon as James, all as soon as James comments, they're like, oh, this fucking weirdos here For people watching, whatever. I think people just click on there and they're like, oh, it's this dude again, you know whatever. Anyways, yeah.
Speaker 1:So today we want to chat a little bit about core values. I know we tapped on that a little bit last time we were able to chat without a guest. Also, we talked about accountability. So I mean, yeah, that definitely they go kind of hand in hand. Accountability could even be considered like a core value for some people, just being able to be held accountable. I mean I believe that for myself, particularly just because I like to be able to, I put myself on such a high standard, and my wife told me this before too. She's like you expect everybody to kind of live the same way that you do, or have the same beliefs, or like I don't know. Just be like I don't know. I'm not gonna say like I'm like the best guy ever, but it's just like do the right thing when you can. And I got trailed off there.
Speaker 2:But my wife has said that before too about just like my standards and stuff like that. So I try to. It's been a learning process of kind of just like holding back a little bit, you know, and focus. Yeah, it's frustrating, dude, you know it's hard, it's hard as shit.
Speaker 1:It's hard, but yeah because, yeah, people were fucking like I don't know, I think it was like most, most explained correctly, and like I think it was men in black, the first one where he's sitting on the bench before he, before Will Smith, fucking takes the pill, you know, and goes down the rabbit hole or whatever. He's talking to Tommy Lee Jones on the park bench and he's like, he's like. You know people are dumb and scared and stupid, you know he's like. But like a person is smart, like on one on one. Like a human person, yeah, can be reason with, but like people as a whole can't be like a like. You know, it's that crowd mentality.
Speaker 2:Lost cause. Sometimes it feels like, yeah, dude the um, yeah, core values I wanted to talk about today. Just, you know, like you said, it just Falls along line with what we've been talking about. You know, I'm still here. Yeah, good topics to bring up in discussion this is what I was trying to say. I'm core. Core value is one of them.
Speaker 1:Well, um, before we get started, buddy wants to sponsor us like as a whole. Like you know, Just buy us good internet, all that shit like let us know, because, I mean, we really got something we want to bring out to the people but, as you can tell, we got technical difficulties. We need a. We need to be, so yeah, man, fucking fuck this internet shit dude. We need to get some other fuck. I'm sorry. We need to get some people on the team that can help us with this technical stuff People help us, help us, send us all your money.
Speaker 1:I'm just kidding, anyways. Yeah, dude, so core values, dude, what is that?
Speaker 2:To me yeah, I was gonna ask you that, dude, what Core values to me? To me, core values are just like what make up your character. To me, that's like what, what, what is the, what is the building blocks of your character. That's how I identify core values, my, my, my specific goal. Core values, yeah, in this order family, family is the first one. Family, integrity and and and and success just that says that's how I, that's how I Defined myself, that's what I, that's what I live off, that's that's how I define my everyday being really is you know, those three things. That's those three things run my life essentially. So, yeah, family, just because I Don't know, that's just, that's just a person I am, I draw, I'll drop my, I'll drop, I'll drop everything in the world for family, you know, especially my kids. I'm and I know you're the same way but like yeah, and then and then to you, like integrity.
Speaker 2:Integrity is something that was that was learned to me through the army. You know that's not something that was always there, but it was one of the core values that I took away, one of the seven that I took away after I got out. Integrity, because it just Do we, just let we live, like, live in by that. It just it made sense to keep living by that kind of mantra of like doing the right thing when no one's looking. Yeah, it builds a better character, it builds a good. In my opinion, it builds a good man and builds a good husband, father, good employee, like all right. You can't go wrong with having integrity as a part of your life. Maybe it doesn't have to be one of your core values, but you can't go wrong with having integrity in your life.
Speaker 1:Just always remember in the back of your head like, oh, like, would I do this. Exactly I do this if Jesus was watching. Yeah, Jesus is always watch it. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's, that's how I, that's how I try to run my you know, live my life with those two especially. And then the third thing is like success that's one of my core values is I don't know if we're trying, I don't have success or just the aim, and being successful just because, like that pushes me towards something, it gives me, it gives me a reason to like not to wake up, but it gives me a reason to work hard other than like the obvious, like the family. I mean, it gives me, it gives me a reason to like those me. It gives it kind of like. It kind of like drives those first two core values, kind of you know, I'm saying, like you know, I want to be successful for my family. In order for me to be successful, I have to do the right thing when no one's looking at all times. That's how I, kind of, those are my three, yeah, those are, those are my top three.
Speaker 2:I thought about that shit all day. I thought about this shit. I was lonely hard. Yeah, what are what? Like, what's the? What is the third one? I mean I, the first two are easy, but the third one was like, what, like, what is, what is what drives my daily, daily life, and I was like all, the pursuit for success.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's something I struggled with thinking about too, because it's like I mean obviously family, because I gave up I will. You know I'm in this position. I didn't give up much, but like I mean, I Put myself in a position to take care of my kid when no one else can or will. Yeah, and that's just. You know, that's just that old-school mentality to like a, you know you want something done, right, you know, do it. So Obviously we want daycare and stuff like that.
Speaker 1:But I think I think that has really helped me kind of drive in the family aspect of of that. I know that me this is an important one too is like understanding your spouse's core values, which is something we could probably do a whole another, but making sure that maybe one, at least one or two of your core values link up with your spouses would really really improve the relationship. So like ours it's family, like it's family time, so like and we're not talking like extended family, all that shit like obviously, like I love, you know, my mom's here right now, but they're getting, they're, they're getting ready to go to bags or waking up at like 4 am. The drive 12 hours, so they'll be in the living room when I'm done not to meant and not saying, like you know I'm talking about, like my, you know, the Turner crew, the end yeah, my household Turner right now is what I'm talking about the family you made yeah, my yeah, yeah and it's yeah.
Speaker 1:Like you said, drop everything to make sure that that's okay. Everything. Nothing comes first before that, and even like you said last week I think it was you and your why, when you said you put your kids before your wife now, yeah it's like a real thing.
Speaker 1:That's a you know I get. I don't even have to question that was. Does my wife put my kid before me like it's a true statement? She does yeah, it's a good thing. She's a good mom for it. Yeah so yeah, family, I'd say for sure, family, and this is quality family time, I think would be more defined than family.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, it's good yeah.
Speaker 1:Quality family time would be number one for me and us as a family. But then me, this is hard because, like, I don't know, I don't really know who I am right now outside of that, you know, and that's what I'm trying to figure out. So I mean like that integrity and I hate this thought sound like I'm copycat and off you but that was the first thing that I remember, like Like at my core, that I learned, like I always knew about it, but it's like the one thing that I took away from that basic training was like I think I, I know I think I was on Talking my dad or something. He's like oh, you could do it right, great, you know. Like because we're off on family day or something.
Speaker 1:Yeah and I was just like I even said it. I was like, yeah, you know, wouldn't be good, integrity or some bullshit, you know, I think basically I just like I don't want to get in fucking trouble. It was like my drill science are out here watching. But you know, basically I just told him like it's integrity, you know, yeah, be who you want to be when no one's looking, and then you don't have to worry about it. And then when you put that kind of vibe into the world, I feel like that's the the tribe you attract.
Speaker 1:So I like that third one, dude, for me is it's hard, it's really hard, but I gotta say it, it really lies within the self. Almost along the same lines of success. But just like mental wellness, just wellness in general, whether you find that through you know, working out like which, which you do, which a lot of people do, which I should. I got a full gym Less than a hundred feet away. I should be in there every day. I'm just not, I'm in pain. That's a good excuse, but so, yeah, I mean just I've been on this Mental wellness quest and this cost me a lot of shit, dude. It's.
Speaker 1:It's when your core values and that's another thing I want to talk about later too is like when your core values to get tested. This is when you really fucking know that they're your core values. Like when you're when you're willing to say, fuck that job, it doesn't align with who I am as a person. Then I in that's, you know, you understand who you are to the core, yeah, your person, you know, and I think that's fucking great. So, yeah, like, how Shit, like I don't know. I guess we could sit a little. Just how do you go about If someone were like be like I don't know, like, like we obviously were instilled with core values so we were able to take some of them. Obviously all they're all there, but I mean I'm loyal. You know all that shit, try to be everything. But like how how does someone understand? I mean even actually like, did you grow up so did you grade school have like those 12? Like like responsibility, respect, and it was like these. Every month they had like a yellow card with yeah phrase in the month.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they did started dude yeah.
Speaker 1:But but yeah, I mean just that's funny like damn dude, that's a but. Then where it was really honed in was where I cared was in the army. But yeah, dude, I think you know you got to, really got to reflect, you got takes the time to reflect on what truly matters to you. What ideals, beliefs and principles do you hold dear? What brings the most joy and satisfaction in your life? That is the first step to identifying some of those core values.
Speaker 1:Yeah, dude so like yeah, like what brings you the most joy and satisfaction, like true, unwavering, just joy. You know like sometimes I used to get like randomly pissed off at shit, you know. Yeah you drive and so I got damn it. You think it's something. You get pissed. I catch myself now, dude, and I'm just like I was like, and I didn't put it together last week and I was just like dude. I'm getting replaced with like random Happiness thoughts. I'm just like I'll think of my kid, like or like his little laugh.
Speaker 1:I'm just like that's fucking dope, you know.
Speaker 2:I'm happy for a second. You know like and then.
Speaker 1:I really, you know, think about it. So that's how I know that family is. Is it For me? You?
Speaker 2:made a dude. You made a great point earlier about aligning your and you're right. We can make a hole like we could talk about an entire hour and a half or hour on on aligning your core values with your spouse's core values for those listeners that are married, like that's. I mean, I think that's, that's key. I mean it's and I didn't do it up when I'm I'm a senior, thinking about it Like I know. I know my wife's too.
Speaker 2:I know two of her core values for sure. Like first, her first one is family and her second one is is honesty, because that's something that she like she drives. Oh, she's like that's something that she Values so, so dear and she tries to instill in our kids a lot just the value of being an honest person and like that kind of lines up with my you know just be, you know integrity, doing the right thing when no one's looking so like I didn't think about that shit until you said that. So I mean that's yeah, yeah. Like aligning your core values you just passes core values makes for you to, makes for a successful relationship. So that's yeah, that's a. Those are good thing you're playing out there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh yeah. I wanted to catch up with a couple comments hmm, Alder. I'm putting an extra hours lately because of our oldest is the senior next year. My girl wants to make sure, make sure they get everything for their senior experience and it costs a lot. So I'm making sure. That's that shit man, that I haven't had to go through that obviously yet, but I mean.
Speaker 2:I'm not, I'm not going through that, I'm never going. Senior experience.
Speaker 1:But yeah, I mean that's. Yeah, that's who said family first what he's getting at yeah, you got that for sure. Our boy Ben. What's up, brother?
Speaker 2:What's up, dude?
Speaker 1:foundations, baseball development. If you guys are in the Seattle area, you need to hit them up. If you got kids learn how to play anything like that man, hit them up also. Just a cool ass dude.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah he really is. Yes, so you're taking some time to reflect on what matters to you, helps you identify those core values. Because this, I think it's, I think it's, you know, we're talking about the conversation of having core values. I think it's necessary to have those, have those things I think we brought it up before like, within that transition period from military life to civilian hood, like you have to have, you have to have some values in order to like To lead you down, to lead you down, um, somewhat of a successful path, but just that way you're not Strain too fun. I don't know what I'm trying to say, but or I don't know how to say what I'm trying to say but, like, just Because that transition period is so hard for everybody as far as veterans are concerned, like you know, so having those core values, it kind of it kind of helps you zone in on what's uh, what's um, what needs to be taken care of first.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like helps you filter out all the bullshit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, thanks. Yeah, yeah, it helps you filter out all that bullshit, because you're gonna, you know, for, for the service members that are still in right now and they're about to go through that, like they're gonna go through that transition period, um, there's a honeymoon phase, there's a Hell of a honeymoon phase, and it's the best, it's the best feeling in the world. And then, like you know, speaking from personal experience, after that honeymoon phase ends, you're like what the fuck am I now? You know, and that's when those values need that. You know, that's when those values kind of like lean in. You have to lean into those values Like what, what the fuck am I now? I'm not a soldier anymore, I'm an I'm not a marine sailors, you know, airmen, what am I now?
Speaker 2:And that's when those core values are really helpful. So you know how do I identify those core values? Reflecting, you know, the first step is reflecting what is the most important thing in your life, what, what ideals and principles, uh, do you hold close to you? That's the first step in finding those core values. The second one is, um, you know, kind of along the same lines of just filtering that, filtering out that bullshit, you know, examinating your priorities, like what needs to be done first, like you know, you know, uh, yeah, what, what needs, like what needs to be done, like what's the most important thing. That needs to be done step by step.
Speaker 1:Yeah, uh, for sure, uh, Like, what's that? One thing you know, like you know it's gonna fuck with you tomorrow. You know, like, uh, and also it's it's not good to get into the idea of like pre thinking what's gonna set your, set your shit off either, but, um, it's good to, good to, you know, examine your priorities, like you said. So, um, what you consistently prioritize, even when faced with challenges. This could shed light on the values you naturally hold dear.
Speaker 1:So, um, yeah, like when you, when you get, let's just say, um, when there's something tests, your, let's just say Something comes up and it's like, basically, you know you got to choose this or the family, or choose this or that. You know Like when, and it's again, you lean on those core values to understand who I am as a person. Um, and it's important to have these because you, then you let yourself, you actually can set healthy boundaries with other people, especially in a professional relationship, yeah, even more importantly, in your personal relationships. That's something I think people Could do a little better at doing for themselves is setting healthy boundaries. And then also, to the flip side of that, fuckin, let people Set that up. Um, set those healthy boundaries with you if they need to. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1:Like yeah be be accessible. Don't be a dick. I know I'm, I know I'm the ones telling you that, but I tried, dude, I really try, um, and yeah, you just try to think like you know, like I don't want to go to the gym today, like, oh, fucking, one of my things is, you know, wellness and one of my things to getting well mentally is I got to work out, um, and I need to start getting better at it because I'm starting to feel myself Getting that now you're fucking. You know you're lazy again, starting to be just that fat civilian or that. You know that that fat bro vet just out here talking to people and Not working out, or whatever it is. And I'm not like, it's just.
Speaker 1:I don't know.
Speaker 2:No, yeah.
Speaker 1:So yeah, going into, uh, the next one. Listen to your gut Um this is big.
Speaker 1:for me, that's never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever steers me wrong. Dude, attention to your intuition. Your gut feeling often reveals what aligns with your core values. Trust yourself, fucking always. Um, as your instincts can be a valuable guide. I can't tell you how many fucking times in my life, um, gut feelings turned out to be like some Weird shit, like I want you to go into, like, but just like something like off the wall that, like you know, I don't think that'll work because of this, and this is like oh, it happened you know yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like uh, that wasn't gonna work out, Um, or like a job. You just like you know you're at this job, like this job Something's saying big coming.
Speaker 2:You know like it's just gonna.
Speaker 1:something's gonna happen all of a sudden, like three months later, like this place is shutting down, like I knew it dude. Yeah, yeah I must think there's been scamming money off the top.
Speaker 2:I know it's busy, I know Um, but yeah yeah, dude, listen, listening to your gut never, uh, for me, never goes wrong. Dude, um, that's something my, that's something my household is is really good at. That's what we, I mean, that's Fuck, that's how, uh, we try to do that a lot, dude. We're, you know, we're, we're not, we're not, as we're not really religious per se. We, you know, believe there's in a higher power, but when it comes to like Decisions or moments that need to be, like decisions that need to be made, or mom, like being in the moment, like my wife and I listen to our guts a lot.
Speaker 2:It's like, hey, should we do this? Like what's your gut tell you? It's like, uh, we should probably. Let's, let's jump at it, let's just, let's just do it, why not? And then, and then, like you know, turns out like, hey, fuck it, we'd, you know, like here's a small stupid example like my wife was like, yeah, she was just like I think we should mow the yard, like we mowed last week, and it's like we should mow the yard, and she just went out and started knowing and like, no shit, by time we packed up and we're done, start fucking raining. It's just like you know, you know, we didn't check the weather. We were just like hey, you know.
Speaker 1:That's good for the yard. Yeah, rain right after you cut, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, like I said, it's stupid example, but it's like it, you know it's, it's I can't think of a big one off top of my head right now, but just yeah, that's we listening to our intuit, this listening your intuition. Oh, I got a good one. How buying the house, dude?
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Like how we bought this house. It's just like you know, we we bought this house without even looking at it like personally, like we like Was that kind of side on scene. We looked at pictures and we were just like, should we like? Should we wait on this? It's like now, like the market is like everything's selling so fast right now. Let's just like we need a home for our family and this is it. This is on, this is just. This fell in our laps. Just jump at it. And we did it and by like six hours later, we closed on the house.
Speaker 1:That's awesome, you know what I'm saying, like. So, and now you? You know, now you're there, you're loving it and, oh yeah, it all worked out.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, that's dope dude. What's, uh, what orders to hill them? Pop this up here. I've had a gut feeling lately that I need to take a new step. I feel too comfortable Like so, like so, etching. What is it?
Speaker 1:like something, oh, like something there, like something might happen.
Speaker 2:Oh, like something might happen. I need to be ready for change, do you? Do you feel that way ever?
Speaker 1:I fucking always feel that way, dude. I feel like, well, cuz I know, I know change is coming always, as is uncomfortable as I am with change. I mean, shit happens, dude. You know, every day, every day, my kid grows older and he's into something different and he knows something more. And I'm like I got to prepare my head, like, yes, we had this little baby gate, dude, and it's got, because we got cats and they're able to come downstairs so our dogs don't chase the cats downstairs. Cats come downstairs, have the whole basement. She'll relax something. A little cat hole, you know. Like that, yeah.
Speaker 1:Fucking. I think I was like walking past it yesterday and I was like Griffin, where you at, he's like huh, and I'm like you know, like I'll normally hear you there, like where yeah, I was like, are you? He had fucking put his feet through because he watched my dog walk up through the thing. So he like put his feet through and was shimmying down the steps. He's like halfway down the steps and I'm just like, oh god, here we go. I gotta put a bell on him.
Speaker 1:So like yeah it's changing every day. Yeah, it's, it's, it's never gonna stop. So, yeah, the sooner you Fucking accept that, you'll be better off.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he the that little. Is that that little what he said in there too? Like feeling too comfortable, dude, I feel that all the time not all the time, but they're there, like I least at least four times a year I'm like, yeah, this is like I feel I'm too set and I'm too set in my ways right now, so I need to be prepared. Something's gonna happen.
Speaker 1:I think that's that. That's that mentality. Like you know, don't leave the base a certain time. In the same time, take their same routes home and don't be complacent. Complacency kills I think that might be what it is, dude, and that's that's, honestly why some people lose their shit because they can't Keep coming up with new ideas to keep themselves busy.
Speaker 2:I guess yeah.
Speaker 1:I don't know, but I mean it's, it is, it's a real thing, that's. I'm sure you're not the only one that feels like that, so I definitely do yeah, although you're not alone. I'm all the time I mean shit. I mean look at where I fucking live, dude, I got a, you know. I mean I got six bedroom fucking house. I don't need that many bedrooms. They got one kid, but you got a room to grow my family. I'm never gonna have to sell this place. We got room to I'm gonna grow.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, dude.
Speaker 1:So that's why we did that, but anyways. So after you listen to your gut, it's important to seek inspiration. Inspiration this is huge because you want to surround yourself with diverse perspectives and role models who embody the same values you admire and it doesn't have to be all of them, but it's, it's Definitely a huge plus to surround yourself with like-minded individuals, because you are what you take in every day. If you're your group of people's bitching about life and everyone's just bitching, bitching, bitching, this life sucks. This keeps happening to me. I didn't get, you know, I didn't get this and everybody fucking hates me.
Speaker 1:Like man, if I wanted to bitch about life, I could sit here and bitch about my last two weeks and how it was up and down and I feel so. You know, I felt so useless after all that, but, like I came down to the realization that you know I'm not useless dude like my, without me, my kid would be in a lot worse shape. Like you know, my kid's super happy, he's in great, he's in. You know, he's doing it Great. So I mean that's, that's a use right there. And and to me, like who's your?
Speaker 2:um? I mean interrupt, you did, but who, because I um. You read that out loud and I was like, oh fuck, do you have a role model?
Speaker 1:Do I have a role model?
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Dude, I wouldn't say I don't know if I have a role model per se. I think I like to pick people, pick things off of people that I admire or that I, that I look up to or that I want to be like. But as far as like one person, oh, that guy's my role model. I'm not fuck that, I think. And then not to say that if you do, that's great. But like I know I like everybody's got something good to say. It'll take a little piece from everybody. That perspective, I guess I was just raised like my dad was. Always he would buy. He like hey, man, I'll buy you a baseball jersey and I'm like I wanted a mark McGuire jersey, right, because I grew up St Louis in the 90s, right, I want to fuck a mark wire jersey. My dad's like I'm not buying me mark McGuire jersey, I buy you a Cardinals jersey, but he didn't want. You know he's like you know. You know he's not gonna wear the name of another man on your back, which is a little extensive.
Speaker 1:Yeah past the point that I'm gonna try to make here, but the idea behind that is kind of always, I guess, stuff with me is like carve your own path, so I look up and this is gonna sound pain, but sometimes you got to do this. I look up to who I want to be, if that makes sense.
Speaker 2:No, it does, because I don't mean. I asked that question because I don't have one, yeah, yeah, and I was like, oh, fuck, yeah, I don't know if I can talk right now or speak on that. I have.
Speaker 1:I have fucking sports Members that I idolized. You like to sit here and talk to you about Nolan Ryan and how I wished to God I was born fucking earlier so I could watch that do play like all his whole career.
Speaker 1:Yeah just like, fucking. Talked you about Brett Hall, I mean talked to you about. You know, like these are dudes that I grew up idolizing Mark Wyatt. I kill you, yeah, but in the day, dude, all these motherfuckers, something always comes up. Like you know, like you idolize somebody right and all of a sudden he's on the f-scene list, like now You've been idolizing the fuck, a child fucker, your whole. Yeah, you know what I mean. So it's like I don't know these people like that, so I'm not gonna fucking.
Speaker 1:I'm not gonna sell my soul to the devil to listen to. You know I don't know. So people got their own thing. Like I said I it might be vain, I do. I do look up to who I want to be, if that makes sense, like Like the ultimate me is what I look up to, because that's who I want to be, you know yeah. That's version of myself.
Speaker 2:So I look up to that, yeah, and try to try to match that and it could be, and I I have a feeling you probably think the same way on this because we're both dads, but like I Look, you know my role model is like who I want. Yeah, same thing with what's his name. Mr Rogers was a Marine, wasn't he? Yeah, yeah, dude, fuck with those cats man.
Speaker 1:I killed so many motherfuckers. I just want to go home and start a kid show.
Speaker 2:But, uh, but, like the. What was I saying about the?
Speaker 2:role models like I don't, I don't have one, just like you, but I do look up to like I look. My role model is like who I want my, who I want my kids to look up to, you know, and I'm constantly working on it, like that's something I'm constantly doing, that's Cuz you know, my dad wasn't my role model. I don't expect my kids to think I'm their own role model, but I idolize and fantasize that I am, and so I continue to work on that you know, yeah, that's a good.
Speaker 1:I mean it's. I Guess that now it kind of makes me feel bad, that like why didn't say my dad?
Speaker 2:Is my no man? Yeah, my dad wasn't mine, I mean I.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know he just retired. You know it's Work for fucking as a union pipe better for 45 years. Who taught me good Tommy, good work ethic, you know?
Speaker 2:yeah, but yeah, yeah, seeking inspiration is a good thing. Help, help. That'll definitely help you identify some core values, the um that let you know the last part in that, in that, in that little bolt there, engaging conversation, read books and explore new Experiences to broaden your horizons. I love that that's. That's actually something I've been like really active in trying to do my Myself in the past couple months. Like I have a, have a book on my phone that I that I read because I'm a, I'm a bit of a science fiction nerd.
Speaker 2:So like I, I like to read, like to read science fiction stuff. So like I'm reading, I'm reading the dune books right now and like I Don't know, it's just it's eye-opening Because it's you know it's a science fiction book but it's essentially about like that you know Story about. It's a story about human interaction and humans you know, like what we idolize and like how you know false prophets and stuff like that. But like, yeah, I'm, I'm getting away from myself. But yeah, read, reading, yeah, reading books is good, I'm Engaging it you know I just want to go.
Speaker 1:I want to stay with you off of it for a second though. Yeah because you reminded me of like and I've only seen the movies, but I do. I'd like to read the books that the virgin series dude.
Speaker 2:The virgin series divergent. Oh, divergent.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, I read those those books are.
Speaker 1:The movies were badass, I know I bet the books are really good. I think oh yeah that's a cool Well, just the idea of that. You know it's just so fucked up, but it's like.
Speaker 2:The books. I mean. Everyone says it, but I mean the books are way, because I read those series. The books are way better.
Speaker 1:I have like six, five credits on audible right now because I always forget that I have audible and then I'm like, oh, and I'll download like four books and then I'll never listen to them. So I have so many books on audible right now but mostly like I just Anything Daniel Aiman writes. Right now I'm downloading a dude for that we shared about the Forgot. We were talking about that episode.
Speaker 2:What's his name?
Speaker 1:dr Amen, daniel Amen, the change your brain, change your life book.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he's got a shitload of books, lots of books.
Speaker 2:Let's hold on, for it was. My stepkids are constantly grossed out because I show their mom love all the time, hugs and kisses, letting them know how a woman should be treated, helping her with anything she needs, open the kids with any question they have, putting myself out there for them so they have that person who they know who they should be. If that makes sense for showing them, yeah, oh yeah, that makes subtle sense. That's some. Sometimes I catch myself in. That cheek is my, my boys are getting older and like no, not my. Let me backtrack. I Catch myself because my daughters are getting older and, like you know, they always say like your daughter's gonna, your daughters, your daughters or kids are gonna marry someone. That remind them of who you are, as you know, who you work at this, who you are as a dad. Yeah, well, they're good or bad.
Speaker 2:So, like you know, I'm my, my youngest daughter, charlie. She's she's 10 years old and for the first it's like seven years of her life. I was a total dick to her, not in like the meanest way, but it's just like I was really callous to her, just because, like I wanted her to grow up with a thick fucking skin and I and like congrats to me. Like it took seven years for that to happen. She, like she, has the thickest skin you know. And then it was, and then.
Speaker 1:Sorry, her eyes did.
Speaker 2:But but now, like you know, in the past couple years, like I've just kind of stepped back because you know, because again my wife, you know, we, she told me she we just had a conversation like hey, I think you need to like back off a little bit, you know, cuz, and it kind of just like open my eyes a little bit, like yeah, I need it, let me just back off and just show Charlie like what a, what a man should be.
Speaker 1:Like you know, I'm saying yeah, I like the, the fucking money. Yeah, like a man like this.
Speaker 2:Yeah, James is talking about Exactly man treating your woman right. Yeah, and then like, like you know, small, like again small, stupid example, but like Yesterday, you know, she came to kiss his good night and I was, I was out in the front room the watching TV and she like she's like All right. I was like, hey, thanks, you know. She's like thanks for what I was, like thanks for Help me today, thanks for being being you today, and she's just like You're welcome. You know, just like yeah, it's just a friendly reminder to myself as a parent is like to keep having those moments.
Speaker 2:But yeah, I totally agree with what you're saying. Alder, yeah, just being a showing your kids what an adult looks like, what a healthy relationship looks like is, yeah, those are good role models to have. I really went off the deep end there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you did.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:That's all right. So yeah. Next one would be evaluate outcomes. So you want to analyze situations where you felt most accomplished and fulfilled. What values played an important role in those moments? Recognizing patterns can unveil your core values. So yeah, analyze situations where you felt most accomplished and fulfilled.
Speaker 1:Top tank, don't know about you, dude, that was one of my shining high moments in my life. I was thinking it was butters. Butters got injured or had surgery or something. So Simmons got turned to the one tank and then, starting, dawson hit me up like well, you're up specialist, you know I can come meet me up here at AGTS and let's get the training to get you ready. We went out and shop top tank.
Speaker 1:I mean, obviously that had a lot to do with him, but yeah, that's just say like what, what are my core values? Remind me of that. I mean just, dude, steadfast man. My best man, zach, said that at my wedding about me and this is one thing I've never heard said about me but I definitely agreed with when he said it. It's just like he said I was steadfast in my relationships. And then the way that, like you just know, like if you're a friend of mine, you fucking know I'm there. You know it's not a question. And the same way it goes towards like if I was your gunner, then you know I'm your gunner and there's no question, I'm gonna give it my 100%. And that's why I stepped in and did and we fucking knocked it out. We got a brand new loader the day we fucking left for gunnery. The morning we were leaving for gunnery brand new, private. I'm your loader.
Speaker 2:The Frenchman.
Speaker 1:Yeah, well, he was German.
Speaker 2:German, the German.
Speaker 1:Yeah, wasn't he German? I don't know Gallo man. He was show tunes singing in the tank all the way there. It would be a long week, oh shit, I remember hearing about that.
Speaker 2:Yeah and in all situations where you felt the most accomplished and fulfilled. What values play an important role in those moments? Yeah, other than the most obvious ones, like you know, being a dad. But like I'm gonna have to, I'm gonna have to agree with you there just because, like, and I didn't- Sorry, french, german, all the same, Keep moving, whatever.
Speaker 2:I didn't, you know I didn't. I had this discussion with my wife after my deployment to Africa, my last deployment, and, like you know, and like talking about leaving the army, and she was the one that said it out loud. I never thought about it but, like you know, I shot top. I shot top tank before we deployed to Africa. And then, you know, when I was deciding to get out, I was like I don't know if I should like, should I? And she like kind of sat me down. I was like you know, let's do this. You know we listened to her, you know, got feelings right. It's like let's do this, let's not think half-assed about this, let's just fucking do it. And I was like I don't know if there's like I feel like there's more stuff I wanna do in the army. And she was like what else is there to do as a tanker? Like you've done your job. You've done your job and you've actually, like you've succeeded the highest level at your specific job.
Speaker 2:You know, yeah, you know, she was like she's like you know, it's like you went and you went and shot top tank, like that's something that no one else can take away from you. Like you know, you are an expert at your job, because you went out and did that, you know, and I was like, oh shit, you're right, there's really nothing else. There's really nothing else I wanna do. I'm not trying to go. I'm not trying to go be promoted and be in my golf one day, because you know, those motherfuckers are never on the tanks. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. They're in the fucking range tower. Fuck that, I don't wanna do that. And like you know. So I was like, yeah, you're exactly right.
Speaker 2:And that's a conversation that I have with veterans. You know, whenever I've seen them at work and we had a discussion and they're like you got out and like nine and a half years, why don't you write out the whole 10? It's like I did exactly. And my answer I tell them every single time like verbatim, like I did exactly what I wanted to do as a tanker. Like I did my job at the highest level, other than like huge tanks down range in a war zone. Like I you know what I'm doing right now. Yeah, like other than shooting tanks down range in a war zone, like I exceeded my job at the highest level. I shot expert as a tank gunner. That's what I wanted to do and I accomplished that. So, yeah, I'm happy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, dude, one thing I wanted to add. I know there was a whole another section I added, but I know we want to go into our next little topic, but, dude, questioning societal norms. I know it's on, it's the same, it's whatever. So this is huge. You need people need to understand, like, is this something I like or is this something that's popular? You know what?
Speaker 2:I mean yeah.
Speaker 1:Like societal norms you know. Examine the norms and expectations imposed by society. Evaluate whether these expectations align with the true beliefs and values. Ask yourselves if you would still hold the same values as societal norms were different or non-existent, right? So like, need to know, like, oh, like. Would I be into, you know, whatever it is if it was my thing? Or is it just you know, popular so I got into it to be popular? Are you just like I don't know? Are you just sitting here spitting off some core values to make yourself seem like you have core values, or do you really have core values? Do?
Speaker 2:you even know shit about them.
Speaker 1:You know what I mean. That's just questioning societal norms is, I think, something that I do on a very regular basis, and you know this from history, like yo. If this is what everybody's doing, I see something wrong with it.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:You know what I mean, like why is nobody thinking of another way to do this or why? You know, it's just, I don't know if it's societal norm. Yeah, kind of fucked up right now, yeah, yeah, but yeah, dude. So other thing, just real quick understand your emotions, seek diverse perspectives, analyze related decisions, prioritize introspection over external validation. This is a huge one too, introspection versus external validation. Like it's honestly, it's fuck what you think about me, it's only about what I think about me. And it can't be a one-sided thing, dude. You can't just be like I'm so fucking dope, everyone can you know what I mean, like cause you're not. Yeah, I guarantee you that, dude, I used to think that about myself too, and people fucking hated me for it.
Speaker 1:But I mean not to say I'm not like that. I'm pretty dope, but I'm not like. I'm not the dopest motherfucker on the planet and I don't know. I know that just to be able to just tell yourself. Like you know, I can't remember, I can't remember what movie it was in, but it was like somebody who's like King George or whatever used to hire someone to walk behind him just to whisper, you know, you're only a man, or something like that, you know, to keep him humble.
Speaker 2:Oh shit, I like that.
Speaker 1:You know like yeah, I think that's the kind of shit. You know that's what he needs to. He's hired someone to tell someone like basically, hey, man, like keep reminding me. Every time I think I'm getting a big head. Just be like you're only human Right, you're not unique. That was his, that was his yamnu, you know? Yeah, so yeah.
Speaker 2:Hell yeah, dude, I like that.
Speaker 1:Remember that this process is unique to each individual and may require ongoing self-reflection and adjustment. Your values may evolve over time. Obviously, we grow older. Things that we may have valued when we were younger we don't value anymore, and that's okay, it's normal, there's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, just constantly check in with yourself, constantly understand where you're at, what you want to be and all that you know. Just then they had it right and they said you know, check yourself before you wreck yourself. They said it right check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's. I was gonna bring that up earlier but then I saw it later. So like, yeah, your core values can change. It's not a bad thing for it to change. It just means you're evolving and growing as a human being, and that's a good thing, Because complacency kills. So you know, evolving is good. Evolving your core values just means you're growing as a human being. Excuse me, fuck got the burps.
Speaker 1:The bubble burps.
Speaker 2:Yeah, do these core values? Like I don't want to get ahead of ourselves here, but like the core, I've been like subconsciously, like doing homework for one of the guests that we have coming up, one of our buddies who kind of in my eyes, kind of did it all in the army, you know, and he's been really successful and now has his own gym in Colorado. But, like you know, I've got like I don't know why I have a list of questions. I don't have like a list of questions. I want to ask him Because he's one, he's a good friend of ours and two, like he's been in a society and it has been in a society that you and I will never understand when it comes to the military.
Speaker 2:So, like there's like I've been doing like subconscious homework I said that already but like by watching these documentaries about like sports figures and like like professional athletes. Because I want to ask him the correlation between like core values, between like professional athletes and special operators and how, and does he think they align? Because you know what I'm saying, because in my eyes, in my eyes, I think I do, because like they do, they do because like I watched, I watched, uh Fuck, what's it called I don't know. It's on Netflix some tennis documentary, right? I'm like fucking tennis. I started watching it and then like I got like zoned in on it and and like you know, I'm that you know people that don't know, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2:You know, I love CrossFit, so like I'll watch a bunch of CrossFit documentaries and like highlights on the athletes. And then I'm watching this tennis documentary and and they're highlighting their athletes and I'm like fuck, they're the same different sport but they have the same mentality, same core values. And then I like, as I'm watching that, I'll switch back and forth. There's a there's a show on Netflix now about, like about, the quarterbacks of the NFL. I watched that, did you? Yeah, so I'm, I'm watching that real quick.
Speaker 1:They should have fucking, they should have had a fourth quarterback. Just in case you know Mariota happen, you know, he just kind of disappears off the show like yeah, I ran away and didn't talk about him again.
Speaker 2:He's gone. He's like a wall dude. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 1:Well, I'm mad as fuck. Dude Like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 2:You're leaving, like but his core values, like you, you know his core values.
Speaker 1:Fucking family like 100%, it's family, yeah, he was like well, I'm not family here, they don't need me. I'm gonna get my knee fixed.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I'm a family and then you know I'm gonna try to fucking get a job next year. Yeah, so I'm watching that and the tennis thing that, adam, but they should have had a fourth quarterback. No, yeah, I yeah.
Speaker 2:I'm watching that, the tennis thing, and then I'm, you know, thinking back about all the cross-documentaries I watched. And then now I'm watching this, the tour de France, like documentary on Netflix, and all of it fucking aligns to me like all their core values are the fucking same different sports, completely different sports, but they're all, in my eyes, have the same core values because they're professional fucking athletes. It doesn't matter like it doesn't matter what the sacrifices. They're gonna sacrifice whatever it takes to be successful. And, like I've talked to my wife about today, I was like you think and I won't say his name because I want to ruin it but like I was like you think he had the same, like you think he, him and the people he was around in the special operating group, like they had to have the same kind of core values. I don't care about what. I don't care about what I'm gonna sacrifice. I'm gonna sacrifice whatever I need to sacrifice for my team, the guys on my team and the sex success of the mission.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I can't wait to break it. I can't wait to talk.
Speaker 1:No, I'd also be interested to understand, like how many of those guys had those same core values. Let's say, sit and there are still operators, and then, after they had kids, yeah, yeah you know, like cuz I know he's got a son now and I wonder like, and obviously he's a different mindset than he was, but I mean he's still. I mean I would consider him Is every bit of a top-level athlete, like he's not an athlete but he's a, you know he's a weightlifter. He's a. You know, that's an act, that's a sport.
Speaker 1:Yeah he does it, jesus. I mean, if you guys are curious, apex animal house, we won't give you his name yet we go look him up. I know all there, you already know who it is. But yeah, you might I don't know. But apex animal house man, you go train like train like a bucket matters with him. Because that dude, that's one thing you could just tell that dude operates on another level for sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah, just like randomly like on Instagram. This dude's like toting around fucking sandbags and like shooting guns at the same time. Five in the morning, yeah, like for what? You know I'm asking like for what, and he's like to be tougher to kill. Okay, yeah, okay, got it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I didn't mean to get off and a change it there, but, like you know, I can't wait to ask him those questions about the core values and like the correlation between special operators and like like hot, hot, you know, professional athletes, I think it's. I think so there's something to be said about those two mentalities.
Speaker 1:But yeah, normally we've been going a little longer. I don't want to cut it super short, but I do want to kind of roll into our next, yeah, little bit, and then it kind of before my mom and goes to sleep and shit. But I know we had, we don't even have to go into the full, you know. Yeah, but I just want to know, like how that came up the other night.
Speaker 1:So yeah the other night KZ was Presented with a situation, I guess you could say, of how could he help a veteran? How could we at veteran chat project help a veteran, more specifically him? Because it was asked to him and we both kind of didn't have an answer.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and that was like a. That was a kind of a reality check of like you know, like what? You know, what am I doing on this podcast? Like what is not what the purpose is. I know what the purpose is right, but like what? Like do I need to do more?
Speaker 2:And and that kind of like the question answered itself because, you know, walking to the bedroom and my wife's like hey, like one of my friends has, you know, has a, has this veteran that like Having a tough time with mental health and family and all this stuff, and was wondering if the podcast could help. And I was just like, oh fuck, like Does you want to talk? Like here's my, I can give him my number and you know my wife being who she is. She was like you already gave him our numbers, I Give your number. Like you know, I was like I give my number and I gave him your number.
Speaker 2:I was like okay, cool, but then I just like Like I think we should. You know we need to do more, and that's a conversation you and I had through texts Like yeah, there's probably more we should do as far as like pointing veterans in the right direction, because I don't want to set that. I'd hate to set that false sense of hope of like. Let me call VCP and see what they can do for me. You know I'm saying right, yeah.
Speaker 2:You know, like, well, you can come on and you know, and, and I did, my wife did. It's like my wife was like you know, here's here's the link to their Facebook page Like they would love. You know if, most of the time, and I believe this whole, whole, whole heartedly, like, talking is great therapy, like if he wants to, you know whoever this person is. If you want to come on and like have a chat and talk, talk it out, like talk about your life, you don't even have to share your story about what you did. But if you would just come on and chat like dude, where that's what we're here and Go ahead.
Speaker 1:I just had a good idea. I mean, even in a situation like that, if somebody really just wanted to chat but didn't want to be on a podcast necessarily, we could set a link up and get you in this, this Room here not on live and we can chat. Yeah, no, no record, we're here to listen. That could be one thing, and then, if you want to talk later, go on the podcast. We do that shit too. I just felt so fucking helpless because it was like what couldn't we do?
Speaker 1:Yeah we do is talk. You know like, we don't have money, can't give you money, you know, because we're not making no money out there, but this podcast costs us money. But you know, so I can't do nothing. I mean, I would love to, I would love to be able to get fundraisers going in ships. Like, I can't even sell patches, you know so, I can't even get KZ to buy his shirts two months ago. But I mean, yeah, that's. But I mean, just like, I don't want to just give them, be off, be a, and that's gonna look like.
Speaker 1:I'm responding to Alder's comment just because he said organizations, but I don't want to be the one to just here's an organization. You know like, like, almost like Marcus Brewer said, you know like, I don't want to just be the one For this back. Here's your shit. You know, go, good luck. You know like, I want to make sure that you get to where you're going. I want to make sure that you, yeah, got what you need from where you're going and all that shit. You know like, so, like, that's, that's you. Yeah, you did buy patches. It's just dope. I got some blank hats here, put some pets on everybody's interested. $25 shipped anyway, and that.
Speaker 2:So, like you know, I gave him the two. I, you know, I gave him two resources. You know one he probably already knows, already it's probably beat the fucking death because Every, every veteran knows what it is. It's. You know the, you know. But I do want to remind everybody and I feel like I would be a good mental health Advocate if I didn't remind everyone. But, like you know, if you're a veteran, like contemplating suicide, like the suicide and crisis is lifeline, actually, like you know, someone will pick up. You know, you know I gotta do is top dog 988 and fucking boom, you know you'll, you'll get in touch with somebody. That's that's, that's one, that's one resource.
Speaker 2:Like, like I said, I don't want to push links out to anybody because I don't mean I have to like, I have to use myself as my own motivation. Like, would I fucking like go to that link that you're sending me? Fuck, no, I wouldn't go that link. So I'm not. Why would I tell other veterans to go that link? Because that's just. You know, if I think it's bullshit, I guarantee you he's gonna think it's bullshit. So, like, yeah, so like. So that was one that I, you know, because that was one that I gave out, because I give that to every veteran I come across with at work.
Speaker 2:And then the other one, the other, the other organization I push. I pushed out to him was something I wholeheartedly believe in, just because, like, well, you know, I've done work with their organization before with, like fitness challenges and stuff like that Stop veterans suicideorg, third-grade organization. Like you reach out to them and you either, it's you know anything that's going, anything that's going on. Like you reach out to them and the they'll, they'll link you up with at least 3,000 fucking resources. So, like, those are the two things I put up, but that's you know. And I wanted to talk about it out loud because, again, I want to keep myself accountable to like we can do better, and I think Kyle agrees. Like we, we can do better as far as like what can we do for you? Because here's this platform, the veteran chat project. You can come on, share your story and then like and and find out that, yeah, you're not alone, but then it's, it's gotta be what else?
Speaker 1:It's gotta be more than that yeah we don't want just want you to come on and they're like all right, they were on by like yeah, which it? It doesn't? It kind of feels like there right now, just because there's not like that community built afterwards yet. Yeah, like I do have the page. People are in it. We just haven't really started building that community. That could be one. You can always send them to the Veteran chat project group network. Yeah, guest network, it's a private group on Facebook, I mean.
Speaker 2:I'll send them that.
Speaker 1:If anybody sends a request to that, I'm pretty much accepting it, as long as it's not some Somebody trying to sell me bugging, I don't know. They're like oh you know, we got the, we got the special on dryer. Only Get out of my fucking Facebook group.
Speaker 2:This is what I mean. This is exactly where I'm talking about like for help, like, yeah, like we want to help others, but sometimes we don't know what or where to start, and like and I want to be like you know you and I are, you and I are Are real as fuck. If I could say that with full confidence, like we, bra, bra, I'm not gonna you know if he's listening, I'm not gonna fucking push it out to you that I'll fucking believe it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I'm gonna hold your hand. Yeah, you need to fucking. If you need to kick in the ass and I might give it to you.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but I'm also.
Speaker 1:To you with love man.
Speaker 2:So that's a good I mean about you.
Speaker 1:That's a good idea that you brought up like on that ass, oh yeah.
Speaker 2:That's a good idea that you brought up. That's something that we could start doing it, you know or offering out there to veterans. And you know, I'm glad we're saying it on air or live right now, just because it keeps us accountable, like if you want to come on and have a chat with us off the air, offline, we'll start fucking doing that because Because I, like I said I've said it time and time again, you said it time and time again, I think it's in our fucking intro like talking, talking fucking helps.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and it doesn't have to be recorded.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 1:Yeah, the shirt slogan that's gonna be it, that's gonna be one. I really I the next shirt that comes out is gonna be that for sure. On the back of it's gonna say if you're reading this, if you're reading this, the world is a much better place with you. In it, thank you for surviving. Mine is the mission veteran chat project and and that that one you know, hopefully that you know could be the one shirt that we start and sell a lot of and bug and make some money to do some fundraisers.
Speaker 1:And I Mean ideally, like I'd love to be able to go out to a park and set up a barbecue and just have people come up and start talking and it just have Stream yard up live on Facebook all day and you know people sit down talking with me and you know me just sitting at the camera Bullshit all day. I'd love that. You know that costs money. Yeah, and here's.
Speaker 2:Here's something else I'm gonna start doing and, like I you know I didn't, I didn't bring this up to you Just because, like I said, I want to. I want to do it live so I can keep myself accountable. Like you know, right now I'm trying to, I'm trying to get a new phone, or like an additional phone, and I think I'm gonna make that phone like accessible to fucking everybody and put that phone number out there on our Facebook page. So, like, if you don't want to call these fucking resources out there and like, listen to someone, go through ABC script of like okay, how do you feel? Okay, and then they're clicking a button and then they're reading prompts to you.
Speaker 2:If you want to fuck, you don't want to go through that shit, give me two weeks, at least two weeks, and I'll, I'll put my, I'll put my new phone number out there. That way, if you're, if you're a veteran out there that needs someone to talk to off the air, offline, and you don't want to fucking, come in the studio, I'll be there. I'll be that lifeline for you, because that matters a lot to me. Just to show you guys how?
Speaker 1:How me and KZ truly believe the same things. I actually do have a business phone that I am going to put out there 701 964 1718. Did you make a banner for that? So again, 701 964 1718, 964 1718. So what you can do with that number right there. You shoot me text. You shoot me text, give me a call. I'm gonna go make sure I plug it at bad boy in as soon as I get off the phone. It hasn't been plugged in in a while, but it is a business phone and it is active right now. So yeah case you'll have one soon and then yeah.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, dude.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like that idea too. Just says again you know it's an iPhone To, so I mean, if you got a FaceTime again, iphone FaceTime me chat. I think I think that's a great start. Honestly, I'm super.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's a great start and I'm, before we sign off the air like I want to. That's a let's throw that. I'm gonna throw that challenge out there to all our veteran brothers and sisters out there like Reach out within your community. I have no idea who this guy is and I hope I get to meet him one day, but I Reach out to your local community because I guarantee you there's at least one veteran out there Contemplating suicide within your zip code.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2:So, like, reach out me, make yourself available. Yeah, make yourself available, that's yeah, cuz if there's one thing I know about bets that we like to fucking talk, that's why we have our own fucking podcast.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, so yeah, dude, so that's, that's that you know like we really want to be, we would like, we'd like to. We're gonna add more ways, to be More helpful.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:So that's to Two of them right there. We can, we can always video. We could, we could set up a time to talk. It would be the most preferable set up a time we could chat in here whenever. Absolute emergency, dude, you know, feel like anyone's listening. Man, call that number 701 974, sorry, 701 964 1718. And yeah, dude, I promise you, if I see that phone ringing in the middle of the night, I will, I'll answer that bad boy because I'll understand, I'll put, I'll put like the bat phone or something on that bad boy.
Speaker 2:Fuck. Yeah, and with that being said, like you know, remember everybody, like you're not alone. If you, you know, if you do want to come on a serious story, we'd love to have you. You know we're. You can reach us on veteran chat project, that gmailcom, through our email. You can message us on Facebook. Your message is on Instagram. You can even message us on tick tock, which we're a part of also. We just, you know, we, we like, we love to highlight the, the guests that we have. So if you want to, you know, get a little taste of what, what kind of guests we've had on there. It's on tick tock, but all our stuff is, you know, all the recorded episodes with all our guests is on Spotify or any platform out there. If, if you listen to something specific and it's not, you don't see veteran jet project, let us know. We'll make sure it's pushed out there. Yeah, I think. Yeah, stay tuned for for next week. We got some awesome fucking guests. Hopefully Mac can Get over his fucking post army stomach.
Speaker 1:But tell me tell me bug. And.
Speaker 2:Yeah, hopefully can get over it. And then we'd love to have a mom, because he has a great perspective, because he's going through this no, not the shit, he's going through it right now. He's going through the transition period right now and I think he's you know His keys to success will probably help out a lot of other people too.
Speaker 1:So and I know he's got something to add to the Topic we cover tonight as far as, yeah, core values, because he taught me, taught me a lot when it came to that. Yeah, so that guy's definitely one of one of my favorite leaders I had in the military, for sure.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:Can't wait to have him on Chad from H-backs animal house. Can't wait, dude, that's gonna be so sick. I've been trying to get him on since we started this fucking thing. I think he finally found time for us. Hopefully, if you guys are watching the video, hopefully he's at the gym. He could give you a fucking tour of his, of his facility there, colorado Springs area. You need to go check that shit out. Guarantee you won't be treated better by anybody at any gym than there. So, with that being said, thank you guys so much for listening, continuing to support the project. I think this thing is going to get big. The bigger we get it, the more people we can actually fucking help. So I mean, like now, I have a goal to make this thing bigger now and I'm KZ, knows me pretty well, so I set a goal now and I put it in the book.
Speaker 2:Hell yeah.
Speaker 1:All right, my boy fucking John Burnt, all you know. He's been too busy with being the punisher and whatnot, so he has been doing too many podcasts, so we're catching up Hell yeah, fucker. Real ones. Yeah man, I'm gonna get off here and hopefully my mom's not passed out, and if she is, I'm gonna go. Way, you're up place a video game, but I go. I love you guys. See you on Monday. Have a good weekend. God bless Peace.
