Episode 06: Low Fat, No Fat, High Fat... How Much Dietary Fat Do I need?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Low Fat and No Fat foods are no longer popular (thank goodness). For a long time, FAT took the blame for cardiovascular disease. Well, as it turns out, encouraging people to consume low-fat foods inadvertently increased the public's consumption of sugar and ultra-processed foods. Instead of improving the health of the general public, cardiovascular disease continued to increase along with the average waistline of most Americans.
Not too fast though, doctors were beating the low-fat drum too. Now what?
Well, first, anytime an essential nutrient is being blamed for all health woes you should immediately question said advice. Second, listen to this episode to find out why fat is actually an important part of your diet, which fats you should consume, and how much.
