On this episode of The Nurse Gideon Angle, the host discusses the issue of nurse-to-patient ratio from a federal regulation and recommendation standpoint as well as from the viewpoints of supporters and opposers.  Gideon then offers the nurse who constantly deals with suboptimal nurse-to-patient ratios to manage the guilt and frustration appropriately and have an exit plan. Nurses, please do not fall for the ego boosting antics utilized by some hospitals to keep you in place while subjecting you to harsh conditions. I became a nurse in 2007 and have had stints in the emergency department, medical intensive care unit, neuro intensive care unit, coronary care unit, post anesthesia care unit, electrophysiology lab, flight nursing in the U.S. Air Force, and clinical nursing instructorship. I served as an FDA drug investigator for four years. I am U.S. Air Force combat veteran and am currently on active duty as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Public Health Service.
