Listen along with an open King James Bible as Brother Scott Evans explores the Biblical term, born again, and how it relates to salvation. It's probably different than what you have always believe. And as always, like the noble Bereans, search the scriptures to see if what I am teaching is true. Don't just take my word for it.
Grace and Peace to you and yours.

I hope you enjoyed this episode of Brother Scott's Look in the Book, and most of all, I pray you learned from it and that it helped you dive deeper into God's word, which he places above his very name.
(Psalm 138:2 KJV) (2) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God gives us instruction on how to study our Bibles:
(2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) (15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Please do not only go by what I say, but do the work and study for yourself.
"Anything I can talk you into, someone else can talk you out of."

Hi! This is brother Scott with another Truth Time, Look in the Book!
Today is part 8 in my series, “Bible Key Words and Meanings A to Z.”
We continue with the letter “B.”
The words today are:

Born Again

(John 3:3, 7 KJV)
(3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

So, Jesus said it, so that settles it, right? …right?
How about we use this study principle to find out:
(2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)
(15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Here is God speaking to Moses:
(Exodus 4:22 KJV)
(22) And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

Who is God’s firstborn son?
The plain words on the page say it’s Israel.
Which means it’s not us, saved members of the body of Christ.
So, if we aren’t God’s firstborn son, how is it that we could be born again?
By now you’re probably thinking, “Wait, Jesus is God’s firstborn son.
Everyone knows that!”
Allow me to speculate why you believe that.
Here is the NIV translation of John 3:16:
(John 3:16 NIV)
(16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Whoops! Now you know that is an incorrect translation.
Let’s check out the correct translation:
(John 3:16 KJV)
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

NIV: “…his one and only Son…”
KJB: “…his only begotten Son…”
Hopefully you recognize the difference.
Was it at the birth of Jesus when God gave his only begotten Son?
That’s what a lot of, well, probably most preachers will tell you.
But what sayeth the scripture?
Let’s go to Psalm 2:7:
(Psalm 2:7 KJV)
(7) I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

“…this day.”
Which day is that?
When we compare scripture with scripture, we find:
(Acts 13:33 KJV)
(33) God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

At the resurrection is when the Lord Jesus Christ was begotten.
Plain as day.

To recap what we have learned:
Israel is God’s firstborn son.
Which means it is Israel, not us, who will be born again.
How do we know this?
(Acts 3:19 KJV)
(19) Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

“…when the times of refreshing shall come…” is referring to Israel’s future when the Lord returns and blots out Israel’s sin at their rebirth.
They will be born again at that time.
Born again has nothing to do with saved members of the body of Christ.
(2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
(17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Born again cannot be referring to a new creature.
When something is new, it cannot be something again.
It never existed previously.
In order for something to be born again, it would have to have existed prior.
Something that is new has never existed prior.
And who existed prior to being born again?
Israel.
Not saved members of the body of Christ.
We were crucified with Christ and we are new creatures.
We did not exist prior to becoming a new creature.
Hopefully you can comprehend that.
In order to drive this home, the term, “born again,” is only used three times in all of scripture:
(John 3:3, 7 KJV)
(3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
(1 Peter 1:23 KJV)
(23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

In the book of John, Christ is speaking to Israel, and in the book of 1 Peter, Peter is addressing Israel.
So obviously the term, “born again,” refers to Israel exclusively.
Saved members of the body of Christ are not included.
Those claiming to be born again, and telling others they have to be born again for salvation is giving those people a false sense of salvation because it is not the gospel of our salvation in Ephesians 1:13.
(Ephesians 1:13 KJV)
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

My prayer is, folks who hear this message will be like the noble Bereans and search the scriptures to see if what I am saying is true, and cease preaching that we have to be born again today for salvation, thereby producing a false sense of salvation.

So before I go, please hear me out. Life on this earth is short.
(James 4:14 KJV)
(14) Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

How many times have you asked yourself, “Where did that last 10 years go? Or 20, or 30, or 40 years, etc?

And now you have THE two most important questions in life to ponder:
Forever be with the Lord, or tribulation, judgment, and wrath?
So how can I be saved, you ask?
Please listen carefully to the word of God:
(Eph 1:12-13 KJV)
(12) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

And what is the gospel of your salvation?
Notice the words, “the gospel,” in verse 1 that our apostle Paul declares unto us:
(1 Co 15:1-4 KJV)
(1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
(2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
(3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

(2 Co 6:2 KJV) (2) (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

We all need hope to get through this life, because it can be difficult at times for all of us.
So, look at the hope you will be able to look forward to, but only if you are saved:

(1Th 4:13-18 KJV)
(13) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
(14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
(15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
(17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
(18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Finally, God himself longs for each and every one of us to be saved:
(1Ti 2:4 KJV) (4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Please don’t delay. Today is the day of your salvation… if you so choose!
