Listen with an open King James Bible as Brother Scott Evans studies the Biblical term, but now, and discover how it relates to salvation. And as always, like the noble Bereans, search the scriptures to see if what I am teaching is true. Don't just take my word for it.  Grace and Peace to you and yours.

I hope you enjoyed this episode of Brother Scott's Look in the Book, and most of all, I pray you learned from it and that it helped you dive deeper into God's word, which he places above his very name.
(Psalm 138:2 KJV) (2) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God gives us instruction on how to study our Bibles:
(2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) (15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Please do not only go by what I say, but do the work and study for yourself.
"Anything I can talk you into, someone else can talk you out of."

Hi! This is brother Scott with another Truth Time, Look in the Book!
Today is part 9 in my series, “Bible Key Words and Meanings A to Z.”
We continue with the letter “B.”
The words today are:

But Now

Two glorious words!

According to the Bible, we’re in the “but now” time period.
Our apostle Paul was given instructions to pass along to us on how we are to be living today.
(Romans 3:19-22 KJV)
(19) Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
(20) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
(21) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
(22) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

“But now,” we’re in the midst of the dispensation of the unmerited grace of God.
(Romans 6:20-23 KJV)
(20) For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
(21) What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
(22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
(23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Israel was required to make sacrificial offerings for sin under the law:
(Luke 2:26-27, 39 KJV)
(26) And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
(27) And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
(39) And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

Look what our apostle Paul wrote about the law:
(Romans 7:5-6 KJV)
(5) For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
(6) But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

The Lord Jesus Christ gave himself to be our sacrifice.
(Romans 16:25-27 KJV)
(25) Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
(26) But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: (27) To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

We are many members of the one body of Christ:
(1 Corinthians 12:12-20 KJV)
(12) For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
(13) For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
(14) For the body is not one member, but many.
(15) If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
(16) And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
(17) If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
(18) But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. (19) And if they were all one member, where were the body?
(20) But now are they many members, yet but one body.

We are victorious in Christ because he is victorious from death:
(1 Corinthians 15:19-22 KJV)
(19) If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
(20) But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
(21) For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
(22) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

The law was strong for Israel:
(Joshua 1:7 KJV)
(7) Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
But the law is weak for the body of Christ:
(Galatians 4:8-9 KJV)
(8) Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
(9) But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
According to the Bible, at one time God designated a select group of people which were his people, Israel.
Gentiles were not included in the doctrine that was to be followed at that time.
(Ephesians 2:11-13 KJV)
(11) Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
(12) That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: (13) But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Those who believe in vain believed something that was false, a lie.
Which places the blame on the messenger rather than on the recipient because the messenger did not convey the correct message.
But having said that, it’s also the responsibility of the recipient to be like the noble Bereans and search the scriptures to see if what they heard is true.
(Ephesians 5:6-10 KJV)
(6) Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
(7) Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
(8) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (9) (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
(10) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Here is an instance where “yet now” was used instead of “but now”:
(Colossians 1:21-22 KJV)
(21) And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
(22) In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

After the many meetings between the apostle Paul and the Lord, the word of God was fulfilled.
If someone claims they heard a word from the Lord and they are to convey it to you, then they should be adding it to the Bible because apparently the Lord forgot that part.
(Colossians 1:24-26 KJV)
(24) Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
(25) Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
(26) Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

In time past, salvation was of the Jews, but now, things have changed, Hallelujah!

So before I go, please hear me out. Life on this earth is short.
(James 4:14 KJV)
(14) Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

How many times have you asked yourself, “Where did that last 10 years go? Or 20, or 30, or 40 years, etc?

And now you have THE two most important questions in life to ponder:
Forever be with the Lord, or tribulation, judgment, and wrath?
So how can I be saved, you ask?
Please listen carefully to the word of God:
(Eph 1:12-13 KJV)
(12) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

And what is the gospel of your salvation?
Notice the words, “the gospel,” in verse 1 that our apostle Paul declares unto us:
(1 Co 15:1-4 KJV)
(1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
(2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
(3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

(2 Co 6:2 KJV) (2) (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

We all need hope to get through this life, because it can be difficult at times for all of us.
So, look at the hope you will be able to look forward to, but only if you are saved:

(1Th 4:13-18 KJV)
(13) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
(14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
(15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
(17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
(18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Finally, God himself longs for each and every one of us to be saved:
(1Ti 2:4 KJV) (4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Please don’t delay. Today is the day of your salvation… if you so choose!
