Today is part 13 in my series, “Bible Key Words and Meanings A to Z.”
We move on to the letter “E.”
The word today is:
Enemy – How it relates to salvation today.
I have peace that I am not God’s enemy.
You have access to that same peace if you so choose.
(Romans 5:10 KJV)
(10) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
(Colossians 1:21 KJV)
(21) And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
The enemies of God were reconciled at the cross. By taking sin out of the way, God opened the path to salvation for his former enemies.
(2Co 5:19 KJV) (19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
You may feel your life is unredeemable. You may even believe because of things you have done in your past that God looks at you as his enemy. Reference Romans 5:10 again. “…when we WERE enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his son…” There are no enemies of God on this earth today, nor have there been since Christ’s finished cross work almost 2,000 years ago. Rest assured that you are NOT an enemy of God, but God has reconciled himself to you by taking your sin out of the way and making it possible for you to make the choice of reconciling yourself to God.
(2Co 5:20 KJV) (20) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Yes, you have an invitation to reconcile yourself to your Creator God, the Creator of the universe! I will cover how you can reconcile yourself to God in just a minute.
As always, I urge you to be like the noble Bereans and search the scriptures rightly divided to see if what I am teaching is true.
So before I go, please hear me out. Life on this earth is short.
(James 4:14 KJV)
(14) Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
How many times have you asked yourself, “Where did that last 10 years go? Or 20, or 30, or 40 years, etc?
And now you have THE two most important questions in life to ponder:
Forever be with the Lord, or tribulation, judgment, and wrath?
So how can I be saved, you ask?
Please listen carefully to the word of God:
(Eph 1:12-13 KJV)
(12) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
And referencing Jesus Christ:
(Rom 4:25 KJV) (25) Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
As promised, this is how to reconcile yourself to God. It is by believing and trusting in the gospel of your salvation.
Notice the words, “the gospel,” in verse 1 that our apostle Paul declares unto us:
(1 Co 15:1-4 KJV)
(1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
(2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
(3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
That is the gospel that saves today right there.
(2 Co 6:2 KJV) (2) (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
We all need hope to get through this life, because it can be difficult at times for all of us.
So, look at the hope you will be able to look forward to, but only if you are saved:
(1Th 4:13-18 KJV)
(13) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
(14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
(15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
(17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
(18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Finally, God himself longs for each and every one of us to be saved:
(1Ti 2:4 KJV) (4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Please don’t delay. Today is the day of your salvation… if you so choose!
