Follow along in and open King James Bible as Brother Scott Evans teaches on the Biblical word, forgiveness, and how it relates to salvation today.

I hope you enjoyed this episode of Brother Scott's Look in the Book, and most of all, I pray you learned from it and that it helped you dive deeper into God's word, which he places above his very name.
(Psalm 138:2 KJV) (2) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God gives us instruction on how to study our Bibles:
(2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) (15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Please do not only go by what I say, but do the work and study for yourself.
"Anything I can talk you into, someone else can talk you out of."

Hi! This is brother Scott with another Truth Time, Look in the Book!
Today is part 16 in my series, “Bible Key Words and Meanings A to Z.”
All Bible references are from the King James Bible.
We continue with the letter “F.”
The word today is:

Forgiveness

Tragically, many don’t know this glorious fact, that everyone on earth, yes, that includes you, has been granted forgiveness of their trespasses by almighty God.
One reason they do not believe that is because they conflate forgiveness with salvation.
They are not the same thing.
They have two different calendar dates.
Forgiveness happened around 2,000 years ago at the cross, and salvation happens when a person believes and trusts in the gospel that saves today.
Forgiveness is not conditional, but salvation is conditional.
To put it another way, the world was forgiven at the cross, but the world did not gain salvation at the cross.
In case it's still somewhat confusing, let's reference scripture, shall we?
(2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV)
(19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
So, what does that all mean? Well,
* God was in Christ reconciling (that's past tense on the cross. It's done. Finished.)
* the world (which includes you)
* unto himself (God cannot reconcile himself to sin so he took sin out of the way)
* not imputing (not counting, or holding, or remembering, not keeping, or charging, or applying,)
* their (including your) trespasses unto them (including you)
* and hath (past tense)
* committed unto us (again, including you)
* the word of reconciliation.

Now let's take a look at:
(2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV)
(21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Breakdown:
* For he (God)
* hath made him (Christ his Son) (past tense)
* to be sin for us (the world including you)
* that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (There is an order to righteousness which is, first, atonement which we received by the blood of Christ, then forgiveness, and then righteousness is acquired by faith in the gospel)

Next we'll reference:
(Romans 4:6-8 KJV)
(6) Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
(7) Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
(8) Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Breakdown:
*unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, (no works required)
*whose iniquities are forgiven (not will be, not can be, but ARE forgiven)
*whose sins are covered (again, not will be, not can be, but ARE covered)

The world, including you, was forgiven at the cross, so there is no sin for God to impute unto us.
Let's go to:
(Colossians 2:13-14 KJV)
(13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
(14) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Breakdown:
And you, being dead in your sins (Also, baptized into his death, Romans 6:3) and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened (Also, made alive, Romans 6:5) together with him, having forgiven you (past tense) all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it (past tense) to his cross;

Next verse:
(Colossians 3:13 KJV)
(13) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Note:
Past tense again. Not Christ will forgive, but Christ forgave.

And now we'll go to:
(Ephesians 1:7 KJV)
(7) In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Note:
We have redemption. Not will have or can have redemption.

Next is:
(Ephesians 4:32 KJV)
(32) And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Note:
Hath forgiven you is past tense.

We do not receive forgiveness by receiving and believing the good news of the gospel.
Forgiveness is already in place.
I have demonstrated by referencing scripture that all your sins were forgiven before you were even born.
God’s not storing your sins in a vault somewhere to then withdraw from the vault and bestow forgiveness of all your sins at the time of your belief.
Your sins are forgiven whether you believe it or not.
God placed the sins of the world onto his Son who then took them to the tomb with him and left them there when he resurrected.
That is what paved the way for your salvation and for being reconciled to God. Hallelujah! Amen!

So, as always, like the noble Bereans did with Paul’s messages, I urge you to search the scriptures to see if what I am teaching is true. (Acts 17:11)

So, before I go, please hear me out. Life on this earth is short.
(James 4:14 KJV)
(14) Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

How many times have you asked yourself, “Where did that last 10 years go? Or 20, or 30, or 40 years, etc?

And now you have THE two most important questions in life to ponder:
Forever be with the Lord, or tribulation, judgment, and wrath?
Which one sounds better to you?
So how can I be saved, you ask?
Please listen carefully to the word of God:
(Eph 1:12-13 KJV)
(12) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

And what is the gospel of your salvation?
Notice the words, “the gospel,” in verse 1 that our apostle Paul declares unto us:
(1 Co 15:1-4 KJV)
(1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
(2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
(3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

That is the gospel that saves today right there!

(2 Co 6:2 KJV) (2) (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

We all need hope to get through this life, because it can be difficult at times for all of us.
So, look at the hope you will be able to look forward to, but only if you are saved:

(1Th 4:16-18 KJV)
(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
(17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
(18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Finally, God himself longs for each and every one of us to be saved:
(1Ti 2:4 KJV) (4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Please don’t delay. Today is the day of your salvation… if you so choose!
Grace and Peace!
