For reasons (see: capitalism), the original theatrical release was credited to Richard Lester after Richard Donner (originally hired to shoot 1 & 2 at the same time) was fired. This version, released in 2006, hews closer to Donner's vision for the story arc and is a PERFECT Father's Day movie (especially if your Dad is either a Kryptonian hologram or an ice sculpture).
