We all have our own definition of family, but sometimes, a story comes along that expands our understanding of what it truly means. We had a conversation with Cat, a remarkable woman whose journey to family is as beautiful as it is inspiring. Cat's story is one of adoption, a testament to the boundless capacity of love. Joining Cat in the studio are her incredible adopted parents, Jasey and Syd Schnaars.

Jasey, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, shared the story behind their song, "Love In This House." The song, a tribute to their welcoming Ohio home, captures the essence of their family: acceptance, peace, and unconditional love. Syd, a retired educator and community leader, shared their journey of adoption, and the importance of opening your heart to any child in need.

Cat's background in education and community service, coupled with her personal experience with adoption, has given her a unique perspective on family and connection. We delved into the decision-making process, the joys and challenges of adoption, and the misconceptions that often surround it.

This episode is more than just a story; it's an invitation to reflect on the meaning of family and the power of love. Their family’s performance of "Love In This House" is a moment you won't want to miss!

Creative Content: | Love In This House was inspired by the wonderfully warm and magically peaceful old home we live in here in Ohio. It has the most astonishing vibe of acceptance and welcome and peace. This song has been covered by various folks, all of whom have put their own spin on it without ever losing the fundamental message. I am grateful for our home and for this song.

Well the house that I grew up in – wasn’t much to look at
One of those pre-fab. beauties they stamped out after the war
But we always seemed to have a happy crowd around the table
And Mamma used to say to everyone who gathered there

We’ve got love in this house – that’s all that matters
We’ve got love in this house – more than enough
We’ve got love in this house, and no matter where you been
You’re welcome to come in ‘cause we’ve got love.

This old house we live in now, it won’t make –
 Better Homes and Gardens,
 It’s got Bargain-Basement furniture and
 Cracks in half the walls
And the floors are always cluttered up with
 Dogs and cats and children.
It’d drive some people crazy – but we don’t mind at all, ‘cause

 - Chorus -

And it’s all that I can do to keep it heated in the winter.
And if it weren’t for weeds, I know I’d have no lawn at all
But I always seem to find these friendly faces in the kitchen
And there’s kids out in the yard there, and they’re - havin a ball.

That’s our church on down the road there, It’s no cathedral
Got no pictures in the windows, and the carpet’s getting’ frayed
But you ought to see the way my neighbors pack that place on Sunday
You ask any of ‘em why they came, and this is what they’ll say:
 - Chorus -
