In this episode, we delve into the inspiring journey of our guest, Dr. Farah Laurent, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, NPD-BC, CPXP, CEN, who immigrated to Canada at the age of 9. Despite facing language barriers and bullying, she persevered and became the first in her family to earn a bachelor's, master's, and soon-to-be Doctorate in Nursing Practice. She is a true testament to resilience and determination, holding a Master's degree in nursing education and 6 Board certifications.
Her extensive nursing career spans both Canada and the US, including roles as an ED Staff Nurse, Travel Nurse, Charge Nurse, Educator, Clinical Instructor, and Director of Education. She has a passion for working with nursing students and New Graduate Nurses, using humor, empathy, and empowerment to support them. She understands the self-doubt new nurses face and is here to remind them they are enough and capable of greatness.
Dr. Laurent encourages nurses who feel bored, tired, or frustrated to seek meaningful and impactful careers. She believes in falling and getting up, pushing harder towards dreams, and viewing rejection as redirection. With her certifications in Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification (NEA-BC), Nursing Professional Development Board Certification (NPD-BC), Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP), Trauma Certified RN (TCRN), Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN), and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), she is dedicated to transforming the nursing game.
