Getting Out With Jesse Xander
Raw, unfiltered, conversations and interviews filled with laughter.
Getting Out is Hosted By Me, Jesse Xander, Im a singer/songwriter, musician, and audio engineer…..oh yeah, I’m also an ex con and a recovering addict. I spent 3 years in prison, during the covid pandemic and locked down 24 hours a day for the majority of my time. So every day is a gift that I have to remind myself to even open.
I spent most of my young life in the Entertainment industry. I had the privilege to work with artists such as The Sugar Hill Gang, Biz Markie, Poppa Don, Inner Party System, Ty Wiz and many others but before I knew it I was in sooo deep I didn't think id ever be able to GET OUT, let alone repair all the damage I caused. But I’m alive and I’m free.
I started Getting Out to tackle topics such as addiction, mental health and Prison Life-which comes with stories of loved ones passing and a lot of pain. But also stories of redemption and over coming. GETTING OUT gives us a chance to look at ourselves our past mistakes, and hopefully help someone that is dealing with something similar.. Or maybe you’re just interested in what prison life is like and want a good laugh? We got you.
Learn to laugh at the person you were, use your mistakes as your personal super power.
So lets get out together!

You know, as a kid growing up, when they say, look at the sky, the sky is blue, right. So automatically your brain, as a kid too like all right, that's blue. So from now on I'm going to associate that color with blue, with blue. So how do I know that your blue isn't like fucking purple or some shit?
Speaker 1Exactly Yep, and that's almost like that, like who made the word hat.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, that I don't even fucking, you don't even go in there with me.
Speaker 1Who made the word with anything?
Speaker 2That's weird Because we talked about the last name things how usually people's last names develop because of how or what profession they were in or some stupid shit. John Carpenter he was a carpenter. His dad was a carpenter. John Farmington.
Speaker 1Yeah, he had a farm, I tell you.
Speaker 2John licks a lot of. He licks a lot of. Oh boy, oh shit. Let's get this show started, guys. Let's get it going. Let's get this show started, guys, let's get it going, let's get it. Welcome to Getting Out with the Podcast. Oh yeah, with KDG and Jesse Alexander. Baby, How's everybody doing today? Good night Wonderful. How you doing over at KD I'm doing today, good night Wonderful.
Speaker 1How you doing over at KD. I'm doing good, you know. I'm just staying positive, keeping the drama away from me, and I'm just worried about my life right now, and I got to be focused on my life. I'm on my path.
Speaker 2I noticed that I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you for that man. You're getting on your stuff. You're doing your things. You know I'm and I it's a hard thing to do. It really is hard.
Speaker 1It's really hard to do, yeah but you're really you're doing it and I'm happy to put action into it. It's gonna get done right and then that's it's a huge, huge, huge thing.
Speaker 2Yep, I could sit there and I can learn and listen as much and read as many books as possible, exactly, but if I'm not producing anything, making anything, doing something for myself, then what am I really doing for the world?
Speaker 2and for my inner being Exactly Emotionally, yeah, for my inner being Exactly Emotionally, yeah. So, and recently, since I've realized that and I think you too I can see a difference. I'm just so much happier. Yeah, yep, don't get me wrong. When I wake up, I'm like, fuck, it takes me like 10, 20, 30 minutes now, instead of, you know, an hour and a half. It used to take me a long time to get out of bed. It's facts, you know. But now it's just a lot easier. So I have noticed that with you. So I'm happy that you're getting your stuff together. Definitely, definitely and hopefully. This whole thing is almost over with. I have to go to a spine doctor, damn okay. Yeah, the mold thing is almost over with. I have to go to a spine doctor. Damn okay, the mold thing is getting taken care of. We're cleaning it all out, thank God. We found out it wasn't the mold we thought it was, but it still is some type of mildew.
Speaker 2And I am definitely affected by it, especially my type of my immune system can't really handle it. So, yeah, so I think that that was a huge cause to the reason why I got sick back. When you know that, october, while we did that live stream, I was scared too. I don't have a voice for like kevin, I have a voice like three, four months.
Speaker 2I can't sing, no more, I can't sing no, I'm really I wouldn't have even believed myself like I didn't know. I was like you're sick all the time. What's going on? I was like I never. I really didn't feel good like half, like some days we were okay some days it was like, yeah, I don't even know what was going on, so I bought some air filters.
Speaker 2I started learning about purifying air. What a HEPA filter is there you go? Yep, it was during Corona. I was gone. Yeah, I was gone. I didn't know anything about that. No, no one did when we were watching that commercial, the first thing you're like, oh, that's an air purifier. I was like that wouldn't even, I didn't even know what that shit was?
Speaker 1yeah, damn, something new to you. Yeah, I thought that shit was fake.
Speaker 2I don't know. That doesn't do anything. Yeah, air purifier well, I found out late too, so but that shit works because I'm telling you, in this room I used to dust all the time. Yeah, not, not dusting as much like once a week, take me twice a week. I have to dust not nearly as much it picks up. If I had like two of them, I bet you it would even be, it would be set. Yeah, it would be set. I think I might actually do it, because it's not bad.
Speaker 1It's not a bad price $60.
Speaker 2And it has the carbon filter, the HEPA filter, so it takes like 99% of, like the you know all that stuff out and it has like cause. The whole thing about what air purifiers are supposed to do is that it's supposed to be powerful enough and produce enough air to be able to like push clean air through.
Speaker 2So it like doesn't really matter about how like 99% of To be able to like push clean air through. So it like doesn't really matter about how like 99% of things get through. What people don't understand, right, it's like how much of that air is actually like, how much of the air is it actually cleaning? Like a small unit can't clean, push out that much air Right, as germs are coming into it. So you have to be able to filter that shit fast. So it has to be a big fan, usually loud and noisy, so it doesn't really make sense. But this one is like, actually, if you put it on, three, I felt it when you turned it on.
Speaker 1I was like oh shit.
Speaker 2They put some type of rubber feet on the bottom that actually drop the decibel noise down pretty low, and I put even more styrofoam to make it, uh, better. I do that with all my fans. So, okay, dude my dad with fans, just like no, why please, yeah, like nine inches, bro, you don't have it. You have an italian dad, dude yeah he does not. You just don't put a don't. He doesn't like the sound of a fan.
Speaker 1He don't want a fan near him yeah, like, don't be pointing it at me, air conditioner bro, yeah, ac yeah, ac, you know, and the ac is always on where you want it to be on and if it's Turned it off.
Speaker 2Bro, it is no joke.
Speaker 1He's like he's serious.
Speaker 2Like he really wants it at like 71. That's why I had to get my shit.
Speaker 1That's why I had to get my air.
Speaker 2That's why I had to get my window unit. I was like, as long as you, I was like as long as I can get something that's quiet enough that you don't mind it running.
Speaker 1They don't want to be bothered.
Speaker 2Yeah, of course I understand.
Speaker 1Hell yeah, bro, you walked upstairs you passed in front of the TV, if you were 70 years old.
Speaker 2Would you want to be bothered with any of?
Speaker 1that bullshit? You kidding me? What Hell? No, Hi Dad, Hi Mom. What are you guys watching?
Speaker 2Hi Dad, hi Mom, what are you guys watching? The thing is, it's because I just realized, through being away for so long is that I don't want to miss a minute with them, even if it's not. I'm not sitting down watching movies and hanging out with them.
Speaker 2I'm in the presence of them. I'm getting to spend time with them like I'm in the presence of them. Like you know, I like, I'm getting to like spend time with them, right there they'll. I'll have so many memories of the stupid things that they say and do in the end, the smart things that my mom tells me or my dad tells me. Like you know, they give me wisdom all the time that they don't realize, they think that I don't listen, but there's a lot of shit that I take from them.
Speaker 1Yep A lot. I don't know if you do. There's some times where you don't even know you're taking shifts Exactly, and then you're like oh wow, I learned that from my mom. Yeah.
Speaker 2Like. There's something I learned from my I don't know if anyone else knows about this, but if you, If you ever cut your cheek right, Kev, yeah, Like on the inside, right, oh yeah, you take a little sugar on your thumb or something Okay and rub it on the inside of your mouth and keep doing that.
Speaker 1Sugar.
Speaker 2Yeah, sugar, and it stops the bleeding of the cut, but it's not going to heal us Like it heals it a lot faster. Yeah, it's crazy. It's very weird. It works every time. It works.
Speaker 1Telling you, dude, I'm going to start cutting inside my mouth. No, don't be doing, kev. What are you doing?
Speaker 2I don't know. Well, I told you, just get the cold pizza, you could do the cold pizza.
Speaker 1Oh, cold pizza and coffee.
Speaker 2Yes, See, tell him Kev. Tell him again Cold pizza and coffee. Yes, so it has to be the day old pizza, right? So you get pizza from like what is it Real pizza?
Speaker 1Real pizza, Not yeah, not, no, fucking.
Speaker 2Domino's, domino's, no, pizza Hut, pizza Hut, nothing like that. Okay, we're talking about some like Pasquale's, okay.
Speaker 1That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 2Pasquale's three Okay, that's all I'm saying. Pesquals three Okay, but regular pizza. No, buffalo joint, don't go crazy. Same Cold pizza. Take hot cup coffee Next day, cold pizza from the fridge. Dip that shit in the hot coffee kev.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm, I'm gonna try it Now. No sugar, nothing, just the coffee.
Speaker 2No, no, make your cup of coffee. Okay, no cream, I just no, make your regular cup, okay. What are you worried about? Cream or shit?
Speaker 1Light and sweet. You know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2I know you love the light and sweet oh yeah, make it light and sweet for.
Speaker 1Because I love light and sweet, exactly. So let's keep it that way. I'm going to keep it that way, exactly.
Speaker 2So we're going to keep it light and sweet, all right. And then we're going to take the cold pizza, and what are we going to do with it?
Speaker 1We're going to dip it in the coffee.
Speaker 2Exactly.
Speaker 1We're going to dip that motherfucker in the coffee.
Memories of Family and Music
Speaker 2Then gonna just melt, like it's hot already, and then it's just gonna be a nice bite, it's just gonna be perfect. Yeah, it's all it just it's a melody of beautifulness. Yes, sir, so oh, I see that and no one believes it, kev, everyone doubts it until they like as like as a kid, you know, like we have sleepovers like man, like I, I used to have like a pretty big room room and a pretty big house, so it didn't matter how many kids stayed over the house.
Speaker 2I could have 25 people party and have everybody stay at the house, just in the basement. Yo, it's just crazy. That's almost like Ben Majora.
Speaker 1Yeah, ben Majora just left his house open. He's just people partying in his house. It's like, yeah, it's cool.
Speaker 2Yo, I have a story about that too, but uh, so yeah, like, yeah, like we could have like 20 people and just like everyone would stay over and the next day my mom is just so, my mom's fucking awesome. You know that if you've ever watched the. Mother's Day episode, if you don't know ow, if you don't know, but uh, if you don't know.
Speaker 2But, yeah, she's just fucking cool as shit and, especially back then, like younger and more energy. She fucking told me when I was 12, first time you smoke weed will be with me. Yeah, and you better not smoke weed before you go to college.
Speaker 2Wow, I smoked weed freshman year you know, whatever or no, sixth grade weed freshman year you know, whatever or no, sixth grade yeah, but still, you know, before I went away, right she did with me, you know, and I found out that all the way, every time that yo, every time we were on vacation, I told you last episode I said we used to go to like aruba every november. Right, we used to go away on vacation a lot because we had the money to do it. Exactly, you know, and I remember that my mom, my brother, my oldest is 10 years older than me and my other one is seven, anthony- who you guys met before.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And she would come up sometimes to like, to the room Right or to like, or we'd be at the dinner table or some shit. Yeah, and she'd be like juju pep. I'm sitting there like 10 years old, like juju pep, or nine years old the heck.
Speaker 1You call me jew or something I know I know I'm not sure I don't know, maybe juju pep, juju pep.
Speaker 2It's a funny and cool word to me, yeah I thought it was like you know they were going to like do something that I don't know. Like I kind of knew it was like something, but I didn't know I was young. Sounds like Juju Pet. Yeah, I don't know what was Juju Pet for, but yeah, it came from somewhere and yeah, so they were big Juju Peppers.
Speaker 1Oh.
Speaker 2I didn't realize I was a little uneven. I was a little uneven. I'm sorry, guys, but yeah, so, yeah, so, juju pep, and so as I got older I found out that that was slang word for let's go, uh, do a little diddy diddy. Oh, wow, okay, you're right, okay, crazy, so, as like that, she was just so fucking cool. So so of course, you know, as kids, we probably had pizza the day before For 25 people easiest thing to do, yep.
Speaker 2Get pizza Exactly so she would tell everybody. I'm serious, everybody Damn Like all right here. Anyone want a cup of coffee? Yeah. Whoever liked coffee? Okay. Whoever liked coffee, okay, take that coffee, take this piece of pizza and dip it in there right everyone's like no, ew, that's disgusting. I'm not dipping my fucking. I am not dipping my fucking cup of coffee.
Speaker 2Pizza in the coffee or yeah, I might even dip my cup of coffee, Dipping my pizza into that cup of coffee, Like no. Then my mom does it and it even looks grosser too, Because they fucking, you see, you put it in, like the oil starts spreading and shit you know. So she's telling everybody to do it and it's looking grosser, so everyone's not really trying it. Then I do it and I'm like yo, this shit's fire bro, Like don't, Like, just trust me on this one, Trust me on this one. And they go for it and I'm telling you they're fans. Yeah, Bro, when we start getting more deep, like we are, I told you, in the next coming weeks, or it's going to be some growing periods that I've been talking about, but now is the time, Now is the time I got my pubi.
Speaker 1Guys, I got my pubi, I, I got my pubi. Now is the time.
Speaker 2I might get my shoulder fixed in a couple days, and just now is the time that we are finally going to be able to hit you guys with the Shazam show. So, with that being said, what was I saying? You're saying a lot. I was dude, like I usually do.
Speaker 1But it's okay.
Speaker 2It's okay, but I was saying something, yeah, Saying I know, oh yeah, with the pizza. Oh so the grease would spread, I would take a bite. They're in day one, dude, I'm telling you.
Speaker 1Day one with the pizza. Now you said your shoulder too oh yeah.
Speaker 2So yeah, we're about to. I know we're just. I'm just saying, oh yeah, the growth, yes, we're going, we're going baby. I'm saying it's time to. Uh, we, finally, we have been saving, we have been putting money to the side. We've been using every penny we can to keep the show going. Because, it is. Once you start it, it's more than you think. You know. You think it's like just a recording and I'm going to go through this video, post it. You know it's a lot, it is a lot.
Speaker 2It's a lot's a lot you know, I'm an audio engineer and a musician, right? You know I love creating. I actually used to draw.
Speaker 2There you go love it you know so love doing thumbnails and shit like that. Don't get me wrong. Definitely use ai to help me start off shit, but I do not like keep it that way. I know that that's other people's. Yeah, combined art, but in general I think that art is should be open source. Not all art, but I think that art should be open source in a sense of everyone should be able to use it to make other pieces of art, not a straight copy.
Speaker 2There's even a book called how to steal. Like an artist everyone uses, like there's only a certain amount of chords in in music, you know there's only a certain amount of chord progressions that you can come up with. It's all about following. It's all. No, but I'm saying it's all about your creative mind.
Speaker 1It's all about what you, it's all that, your uniqueness and what you do.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's your style yeah, like I, bro, I'm telling you I'm gonna, I'm doing this little, doing this, doing a little experiment. All right, doing a little experiment, a little experiment. I know a couple of engineers right now that are trying to like, that really want to start doing some music with me, right? Right right, so I am, even if I have to pay a couple dollars to do it, just to test it out, I'm going. I have a song, lyrics, right, guitar, just that.
Speaker 2New York's guitar right acoustic just me singing over a guitar, but I have the guitar track, lyrics, background vocals, oh yes, recorded on like a good microphone. Yeah, like you can make a track from that, like you could take that, those that vocal track, right and make that into a whole song. Oh, you said, like how my producer did with Under the Moonlight. Well, under the Moonlight I did that, but he added a lot of other stuff.
Speaker 2But, he did that with I Know it's Raining and how we're doing it with every other song that we do, exactly Because I can't really, I just hum shit or play the riff on a guitar and he'll do it because the arm is just, of course, yeah, more than 20 minutes or 30 minutes now is bad.
Speaker 1It was five.
Speaker 2Now it's up to 30. So it's getting there because I'm doing my own type of like physical therapy. That I've been yeah, so until I find out what's going on, I can't really do anything that's going to harm it. Right, you know why do that just?
Speaker 1stupid, silly, doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 2It's like a vessel game engine and just still vessels yeah and yeah exactly, and not or like, or or what's it called, uh, like, or you know, hurting your bicep and just saying the doctor saying just don't do biceps for a couple of months and you're just going to do biceps.
Speaker 1What the fuck? So it's like I don't know.
Speaker 2Yeah, I don't know what part of my body, what it is, because it's like now it's turning into the thumb in my hand, so it has maybe it's circulation problem, maybe it's think it's a pinched nerve, that like, because whenever I get like very anxious or anything like I, it hurts, yeah. So I think that's like when it's like the blood starts flowing a lot faster my heart rate starts going.
Speaker 2I think it starts, bro, maybe I'm making up how the body works I'll make it up so completely, but the way I think it is is that the way I think, is that my, my nerve is pinched and that when the blood is trying to flow through it, it hurts yeah, of course, and it gets cold for some reason, because it can't get to the tip of my thumb and it gets very cold.
Speaker 1Dead bodies, what Dead bodies?
Speaker 2Don't say dead bodies, Kev, what no?
Speaker 1no, no, no, listen, listen, this is a whole circulation thing Okay, okay. Oh, you're doing a circulation, listen, okay. When the blood is not moving, it turns blue or something. Well, oxygen can't.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. When you look at your arm right now, when it doesn't hit air oxygen.
Speaker 1When it doesn't hit oxygen, when it's not moving, it's going to get cold, yeah. And then when people feel like, yep, he's dead because it's cold, so it's a circulation thing. So you could be right on that. It could be a pinched nerve, like you said. Not being serious, but you're on track.
Speaker 2You might be there, kev, you might be right. That's how my thought process is, because it's been a lot of guessing I had sciatica. Sciatica, yeah, I have sciatica. Sciatica, yeah I have sciatica.
Speaker 1Well, I had to go to work where I had sciatica I think everyone on this show honestly has had sciatica, but I had it bad. I would. I would lay in the middle of the floor at work in the movie theater. Wait, wait, wait, because I was. Why are you? Laying on the movie where, at the movie theater, you know how seals go? Ooh yeah, that's what I was doing, because the pain.
Speaker 1It would be instant relief. It was that bad. Yeah, people pass in and go to the movies and I'm on the floor doing that.
Speaker 2Which part of the movie theater you did that Kev.
Speaker 1Yeah, that was Hazlitt. You can't be doing that.
Speaker 2Well, I was in pain. They thought you were going crazy man. Did they send you fucking home?
Speaker 1The pain was like no.
Speaker 2No, sciatica is like no joke.
Speaker 1It would be like, okay, I'll do that, and then I'll have like a half hour and then I'll start punching it again and then I have to go on the floor. Wow, it had to be the floor though. Yeah, because it's like your spine is like my spine is off.
Speaker 2See, that's another thing too. I understand that, because after prison that mat that you sleep on. Yep that because after prison, yeah, that mat that you sleep on, yep, was not even the boat, just that little. They like you grab the mat to get on the boat.
Speaker 1Oh, yeah, yeah that thin piece of whatever it is, and if you're, if you're if it's not new, which they never are they're like war to the bone.
Speaker 2People take every like all the shit out in the middle. It's disgusting and horrible. So there's no. Basically you're sleeping on metal. Yep, you really are sleeping on metal. Yeah, and I hate when I see a fucking like prison tv show and they go into the fucking cell and there's a pillow and a fucking mattress.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's just fake stuff I'm like, oh yeah yeah, that's a fuck I want to go there, yeah what was that fucking jupiter like?
Speaker 2let me, can I come elon please take me go there. You go, elon, that's elon's prison for you probably damn what the fuck is. That's crazy a mattress yeah, that's so, but after, like, I got bruises, bro, I would wake up with bruises like I was a big guy yeah, I was still bigger, I was around it was like 20 pounds less than I than this when I went in and I would wake up with bruises on my side and like it took me a while to get used to, but after I got used to sleeping on that dude, yeah, it was great.
Exploring Space and Learning
Speaker 2Like my back felt great, I felt better when I woke up, I had no sciatica pain at all. Oh wow, you see, dead serious, had no sciatica pain that's when the pain went away too, when I laid down, I'm telling you is what, and that's why a big thing, why I wanted the, uh, the firmer mattress too, because it was like well, I know that that's why a big thing, why I wanted the uh, the firmer mattress too, because it was like well, I know that that's better, especially for bigger dude.
Speaker 2Well, minus 40. I made that post yesterday. I'm down minus 40. My dog went to the doc. She Not bad. Not bad, not bad at all, my friends, not bad at all. So, yes, but still trying to go down, trying to lose more to LBs, you know, but it's been hard with the arm. I wish I could work out, I wish I could do more.
Speaker 2You'd get there, I tell myself, I'm going walk you know, but as soon as I fucking pick up that phone, dude, it's like straight to work. Yeah, like straight involved my work. Like straight to doing things that like need to be done exactly like.
Speaker 2I get emails from google saying you know, your seo is at this point, but we can't connect to a certain page or xyz. And now I'm trying to figure out why. Yeah, it won't connect, didn't? I don't know much of this shit, so now I have to google it and fucking youtube it. Youtube, a YouTube situation. I don't even know what the fuck's going on. Youtube a website. It's a fucking mess. So it's a lot to learn but honestly, it's one of the greatest experiences and one of the greatest times of my educational life I've had ever, like ever.
Speaker 2I've never we've talked about this earlier. My brain has never felt this open to learning and like understanding, comprehending what certain things are.
Speaker 2I'm not saying everything right, but I'm saying, like things that were so unbelievable and like never, like, yeah right, I would never understand that. No need to even go into it, right, right, those type of things, yeah, I'm actually interested, interested in, you know. Like wow, what. Like who would have thought that I cared about history exactly? And like who would have thought that I cared about history Exactly? Who would have thought that the atomic bomb, that I cared about, the Oppenheimer shit he's my favorite director.
Speaker 1That's real shit to know.
Speaker 2Christopher Nolan, favorite director of all time. Oppenheimer, I really wasn't going to watch because of, like, it's about history, of course, but when I got out of prison I started learning and knowledge just became this thing of like whoa, how much power is involved in it? You?
Speaker 1know it's crazy how you learn in prison than outside in the real world. It's fake outside in the real world, but in prison you get the real shit.
Speaker 2Because you're reading from books that's like they were written, published and they're out there. Right, you know they were published by people. Some these books are like hard to find. Some of the books I read in prison are like I I can't find anywhere I took some of my books home. I can't find I I can't find some of the books that I've read in prison anywhere where it's absolutely crazy.
Speaker 2Some of them like there was one book that this guy scientist legit scientist, yeah was talking about aliens and like how, how do we know that there are not beings? Yeah, on the sun? Right, right, number one.
Speaker 2Like there could be organisms that live in the sun, that could live on heat, because we think that every creature has to be like a carbon-based organism, like it's based with water, needs water to survive. Yeah, but what happened? What if they? What if it's the opposite? Like I said, like any, if God has all this power, whoever made, whatever we live in, why can't they create different?
Speaker 1rules. It's probably not their job. No, I'm saying the person who created it?
Speaker 2The person who made it your God. What do you mean? It's not their job, they made it.
Speaker 1It's their creation. So what do you mean? It's not their job.
Speaker 2It's their creation. So what do you mean? They'd be able to do whatever the hell they wanted to.
Speaker 1They can make this world.
Speaker 2They can make another world that's completely different has completely different rules Like space you go out into space, and there is literally no gravity, none, there is no oxygen, there's nothing, nothing.
Speaker 2We use oxygen as propellant. We call propellant like we call propellant propellant just to make it easier for people to understand. But it really is just oxygen and air like I get, like that's what they're using to propel themselves in space. Air is oxygen, h2o, I don't know. All I know is that they call it propellant but it's not really gas. Right right, there's no explosions, it is not. It's like it's basically using, yeah, like to push it, like to push themselves, like they call it propellant. I think some of them do. I'm sure some of them do use some type of explosion, but most of like, the time when they're coasting or when they're not needing to use the gas, they're using Wow, oxygen, whatever the fuck I they're coasting, or when they're not needing to use the gas, they're using oxygen, whatever the fuck.
Speaker 2I'm not no genius or anything. I just like fucking learning about shit like this. It doesn't mean I need to know exactly. I'm not a fact, like you know. I wish I could learn and remember that shit. I'm trying to, yeah, but just the fact that I know, just the fact that I want to know that stuff is just blowing my mind like whoa yeah, never would I, ever in a million years, thought that I would think about, like investing money there's people that uh stay in space for a year and then they switch out for it.
Speaker 2Oh I know, in the space station and all that other shit. But you know, the space station is not really in space, I believe believe it's in orbit.
Speaker 1It's in orbit. Yeah, it goes around the orbit, yeah.
Speaker 2It's in orbit, but I don't think it's out of our. I don't think it's out of our. Someone correct me on that, I'm not sure. But I'm pretty sure it's not out of the Van Allen Belt, right right. Because I told you there's this thing called the Van Allen belt, that is a radiation belt that surrounds earth okay and it's so powerful that like we can't, we don't know how to break through it anymore, apparently. But we did before, but now it's like a really hard thing to do. We had the technology before.
Speaker 1How do they know we can't go through it if we never went through it? No, we did Like. We went to the moon, Kev, and what happened? We got there, though, right.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, kev.
Speaker 1I know it's crazy.
Speaker 2They say we did.
Speaker 1And then we got back through that hard occasion.
Speaker 2They say we did, and then we got back through that heart attack. They say we did, me and Carm, I went nuts over this. They made phone calls and shit to the moon Like hey, hey, hey, make your first steps. Oh man, hey, I'm not saying they didn't, I'm just saying either one. Let me hear it they went and they found some shit up there on the other side, on the other side of the moon.
Speaker 2Yep, or they found out that the moon is really not a fucking planet, it's an alien object, and that's why it's so close to us and like it's watching Like that's like, because apparently it sends off a vibrational, like it sends off a frequency, right, like the moon is constantly sending off frequency, and I think they blend in too, because, imagine, imagine they look like rocks and they have no faces, but it's all about, uh, vibrations and stuff.
Speaker 1They hell. Yeah, it's almost like quiet place too, where they bro, that's crazy. Yeah, that's it, that's a book.
Speaker 2The book I read that is actually talks about. One of the guy's thing is that he says how do you get to tell me that there's not an organism that's based off of something like heat? How is it just water? How are you going to tell me that? He goes I, there has to be an opposite to. There's always an opposite to something you know, like why would, why can't there be? Why is? Is it just water? Just because we need water to survive doesn't mean that other planets do Exactly. And the preacher that he met remember I was telling you that whole story with the three he had three hands, so they did math in threes, base of threes, and we do math in base tens because we have ten fingers to count on.
Speaker 2We didn't want to do 20, because we won't count on our fucking toes and shit Exactly. So he said, all right, let's do 10. But they did base threes. So like shit, like that, but he was a rock.
Speaker 1Right right.
Speaker 2And he had heat inside of him. Yeah, and that was how he lived.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 2He lived in a very, very hot, hot hot planet. So it proved his theory wrong. They're actually making a movie on that. Ryan Reynolds is going to be the main guy. Can't wait to fucking read it. And the dude, the alien. I can't read it. Watch it. The alien speaks in like. I hear my mom screaming out there.
Speaker 1She's looking crazy.
Speaker 2There's an alien, right, the alien speaks in like musical notes. Oh, okay, yeah, so he being on this mission, they give him like every piece of computer computing device ever like, ever made, and this is in the future too. So I'm saying like they built a lab that is like everything from the you could possibly think of Kev in this fucking lab, Right, and I'm talking about from the first computer all the way up to like chat, GPT and my Scarlet and shit, everything, everything. So he used a really old algorithm, because he realized that they were speaking in notes and just started finding. He used a note finder find out what note she was using. And they started with yes and no. And once he found out that, okay, G was yes and then F was no, so then they started from there.
Speaker 2Okay, so, if it's G, is that yes, you know what I mean. They did that. So then they started from there. Okay, so it's G, is that? Yeah, so you know what I mean. They did that. So now he has two words, Right. So then they start work their way down the way from there. So then, what's this note? So then he would play another note.
Speaker 1Right right. Try to figure out that Right.
Speaker 2And he explained it so great. The way he gave such great analogies and such great like made you understand it. Didn't make you feel stupid too, reading it, like because he talked about a lot of concepts that were like whoa.
Speaker 1Yeah, crazy.
Speaker 2Whoa Shit that really, like I'm still thinking about.
Speaker 1Yeah, of course, and I finished it four months ago. It's almost like your life had happened.
Speaker 2I'm really still thinking about it and it happened four months ago. I read that book four months ago. What is it called? I can't even remember the fucking name of it. It's hilarious. It's the last one by Andy Weir, the dude who wrote the Martian.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2So fucking good, dude. It was so good. So, yeah, I've been getting into the Audio books. What have you been doing, kev? What's going on with you? If anyone doesn't know out there my boy, kev, over here.
Speaker 1That's me.
Speaker 2He Loves some karaoke. Do you not love some karaoke, kev.
Speaker 1Yeah, I love karaoke, I really do.
Speaker 2He's a big fan. He's there every time. I there Every time I call, I go.
Speaker 1You already know.
Speaker 2Karaoke.
Speaker 1Love singing.
Speaker 2But we got to get, we got to start, I got to start giving you these the jammers.
Speaker 1I want to see the jammers I got to start bringing you to the jammers. Definitely definitely.
Speaker 2You know what I mean.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2You always drive. Where are you? I remember you telling me you were going. Where are you going? Raleway, yeah.
Speaker 1That's how. Yeah, bro, you're right, that's how I got started.
Speaker 2My boy was that far into the karaoke.
Speaker 1Yeah, I traveled. He was traveling to Raleigh and now I'm back in Oak Ridge You're still where you are, but you traveled, I did, I did. Yeah, god bless you.
Navigating Addiction and Recovery
Speaker 2You love it. You love it. That used to be my thing when I was homeless and poor Like I am now without homelessness but I used to just go to fucking karaoke competitions and like that were around the area, but people didn't know me, yeah, and they had like winning prizes of like 500 gift cards something I got that I'm gonna go and do it, yeah, and uh, it would be like a three round thing though, so it would take me a little bit, but I would like plan them out and I'd write them.
Speaker 1I'd like keep them in my fucking my uh little fucking calendar, my phone yeah and I would cause all my friends went to the same.
Speaker 2They did the same thing you did. It was either open mic or karaoke every day. Open mic, though, that was big.
Speaker 1Because they're musicians, so they're playing their shit. They're playing music.
Speaker 2So they want to go to a place that they can bring their guitar play and be able to do both. Karaoke is If there's no open mic. Yeah, that's when we'll do karaoke, that's them you know. So what's it called? Yeah, so I would use, I would go to these fucking places rack up some fucking wins yeah, some five hundo cards, you know yeah and then use them.
Speaker 2Take out some girls for some dinner you know, okay, ladies, act like I had some money, all right, and then yeah, or sell them for some more, like drugs or something like that, sell who?
Speaker 1sell them for more drugs sell the girls no we are not well, we are not over here fucking Andrew Tate and all that shit.
Speaker 2No, no, no, no trafficking here. Okay, I'm not saying Andrew Tate's a trafficker, because I don't really think he is, but I'm saying, dude, no alleges, no alleges, no, we ain't alleges Nothing, don't allege us. This shit is over Done. But before we leave, I just want to leave a little story.
Speaker 1Definitely.
Speaker 2Can I do that?
Speaker 1Yeah, please Go ahead Alright.
Speaker 2Because this is going to be the new start to, and the new breakdown for how getting out. Getting out, this is our motto, this is how we're going to. This is basically us and not so many. Maybe it will be a lot of words, I don't know. Usually, there you go. All right, here we go. Here we go. My definition of an addict Between someone, an NA Definition of an addict, is completely different, and they might call what I say Is not an addict White knuckling it, which is they mean you're just like faking it until you make it type of shit and I don't agree with that at all.
Speaker 2For instance, from today is a huge thing. I can't go into an NA meeting or AA meeting because I smoke weed and maybe I'll have a beer every once in a while Of course, because I don't even like you see me I don't like drinking.
Speaker 1Yeah, you don't like drinking, Not a big drinker, you're trying to get me with it. I'm done with it.
Speaker 2I used to shoot up heroin, but yet I could go out and grab a beer and everything but in AA cannot touch another substance. You will all you. Eventually you will go back. Yeah, of course we were talking about my CAT scan that I have to another one has to go for to get a needle put on my arm.
Speaker 2I couldn't even talk about it without skeething. Yeah, there's a difference between like indulging, because everyone indulges. If I stop using just like 99% of everyone else, I am going to switch that addiction with another one, guaranteed. You see, it may not be as bad as the addiction that I have previously.
Speaker 2I love your hat thank you very much weed but it's still another addiction like I'll trade. You trade it for golfing or you're spending your money now on, uh, new clothes shopping or whatever. You just find another outlet to put it in. Regardless, I have never found someone that's stuck true to the way that they speak in AA and NA, to the way that they act outside of it. I have met a lot of people that are very close. No one's perfect you know, what I mean.
Speaker 2I don't think that you have to hold yourself to a perfect standard, right Like I met this one kid who had eight years clean and he took a sip of what he thought was a virgin pina colada Wow. And now he doesn't count his clean time they do it all gone, huh. You don't count your clean time Because you took a sip of what you thought and waiter messed up. Yeah, you said virgin.
Speaker 2Yeah, they gave you some alcohol in it right and that's you're gonna take your clean time away from yourself because of that. No, no, I do not agree with that. Right, that is not addict behavior. But you stopped yourself. That addict behavior's gone to me. Gave up you, you, you, you stopped you, you were, you did what you were supposed to do, right, you said no, I don't want this, and you took it. Maybe something else, right.
Speaker 2So today, the reason why I'm saying this is because you know, like I get a lot of people who know me for a while and like, but don't know me from my high school times Right, like you do when.
Speaker 1I was in high school. I was fine.
Speaker 2I smoked weed since I was in 7th grade you were boss, not until they started drug testing me and I had to look for another drug To use. That either didn't come up on a drug test or came out of my system quickly. That's when shit went bad. It's when I had to stop using this because there was something wrong with me. Honestly, I was missing something.
Speaker 1I was depressed.
Speaker 2I had anxiety Something. There was something going on. I was a kid, I didn't know what it was. I was definitely, definitely not confident in myself and in my looks and anything, even though I was a boss or whatever. Still we were talking about this today.
Speaker 1How beautiful girls will edit these frigging pictures to make themselves look like they have this crazy figure when they already are pictures Yep To make themselves look like they have this crazy figure when they already are beautiful.
Speaker 2Wow, why are you editing these pictures when you look gorgeous already. Stop doing that. We want to see you as you are, you girls, just as you are.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Morning Routine and Productivity
Speaker 2Stop editing shit please. So, yeah, so I think it's all about addict behavior. Right, and I have had it right, so today I had my, I had my weed in my tray, all rolled up, the last bit of weed that I had. Okay, right, yeah, and we, the weed helps with my shoulder and I usually only smoke at night, right, but on days that we do the podcast, I usually smoke with you there you go, you know I mean roll something up before we do.
Speaker 2There you go. So I am about to start rolling something up and I'm like yo, I should not be doing it over here, because it's probably gonna tip and when it tips over, it's going to fall everywhere and I'm not going to have any. Yeah, you'll be fucked and it did and I laughed.
Speaker 1Right, I laughed. Yeah, gut instinct it was just funny yeah it was funny A little bit.
Speaker 2You know what I mean $25. But I picked up a little bit a nut like actual nuts. Okay, you know, I mean left the ground, I swiped up the grounds, threw it on, threw it in the garbage, whatever, yeah, then I was thinking I was like damn, I remember there was a time that I had like it was like 9, 30, it was like no, 11, 30 night about to go to bed. Right, I had one blue one. Oxycodone 30 left A little blue pill.
Speaker 2A little tiny tiny, tiny, tiny blue pill, my smart ass decided that I'm going to crush it up now, right Before I go to bed, so I can wake up and just blow on it.
Speaker 1Just sniff it real quick.
Speaker 2So I don't have to go through the process of crushing it even though there's no. It takes two seconds. Oh my gosh, that's my genius thinking right, do all that blah, blah, blah. So now I put it on the shelf like this but the shelf is not as high as this, so it's not a high shelf. It's like there's a receiver on the shelf and in between the receiver and the top of the shelf there was about a three-inch gap.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Right, and in that three-inch gap I stuck the notebook, Very like you know, in there.
Speaker 1Right, right, I don't want anyone to see it too, because I was young. I don't want anyone to see it too because I was young.
Speaker 2I don't want to get in trouble, so I stuck it in the gap. It looked nice and neat. Now I wake up the next morning, the first thing I do is go grab that notebook and, as a fucking idiot, I lift it up. You just woke up, I scrape it against the top of the fucking shelf?
Speaker 1No, I don't realize anything.
Speaker 2I'm scraping it and all of a sudden I'm like what, where is it? Everywhere, bro, in the holes of the receiver.
Speaker 1It's gone, it's not even like, because the receiver has holes in it so that it can breathe.
Speaker 2Done, done. Happy New Year. I cried, you cried. That's how I had no money. I'm going gonna be sick the rest of the day. Yeah, that was my, that was my out for the day. Oh, I didn't have to worry about what I was gonna have to do to get some money to go out and grab something. Yeah, like bro, if I don't feel like, if I'm not in, like, if my arm is like hurting and I can't do something on that day, like I don't have to go out and do that, exactly like I'd have to get out, I'm like fucking feeling like it was the worst flu of your life. Yeah, damn, trying to figure out how I'm gonna of your life. Yeah, damn, trying to figure out how I'm going to fucking scheme five or ten dollars, damn, just to get myself through. Yeah, you know, like damn. And I laughed at the weed and I cried for the blue and they're the same price.
Speaker 1Same exact price.
Speaker 2But you're going to tell me that I shouldn't, because I got a lot of text messages for people who don't you shouldn't be smoking weed. I don't think you should be doing that either. They have no idea the shit that, like the way my brain works, right, they have no idea that every time I was using yeah, like shooting up and I smell because I went away from smoking every time I was shooting up, I went away from smoking smoked because I went away from smoking Every time I was shooting up.
Speaker 2I went away from smoking weed. Always went away from it for some reason, because when I smoked in the back of my head, jesse, what are you doing, yep? What the fuck are you doing to yourself? Look at your arms, dude. Look at yourself. You're fucking slowly killing yourself. You're putting holes into your body and I'm still going to join.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And I don't have these thoughts Like, bro, it's who's going to rob me. I mean, who am I going to rob? Like you know what I mean. Or who's like I hope I don't run across anyone that I did rob. I hope someone's like who's gonna be at this party. I'm always on the watch, I always look over my shoulder, bro, like that's being an addict you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2that's being an addict having to worry about like damn, how am I getting a high? That's being an addict. Having to worry about, like damn, how am I getting a high today? That's being an addict. Me having to go to someone and ask them can I grab a nug? So I'm good for today and I got you back tomorrow. That is not addict behavior. I'm sorry, it's not. If you can go to a liquor store and grab some fucking poison off the shelf, do not try to tell me that the herb that grows from the ground, that was slowly trying to tell me that there was a better way out there it wasn't.
Speaker 2AA and NA. That helped me. I'm sorry it was. I'm being so serious. You can say whatever the fuck you want. Every time I smoked, I I had that voice in my head and it was because I started at a young age. Bro, it was like it was my girl.
Speaker 2It was literally like always there for me right yeah, it was what I had when everything was going on with my family. It was what I had when that happened. It was what I had when my girl left me. It was what I had whenever. Like that was what, the only thing, like that.
Speaker 2I really like that. That was my crutch at the end of the night, you know, like that was my ah, that was my peace. That was my creativity too. Like how many songs. And like I just wanted to create, and that's how I bro as soon as I smoke. I want to go create, want to write music, I want to make music, see, and it's scary, it really is scary, because it's like I know I should be doing it, I gotta be doing it, I gotta be me and I know I'm gonna be coming. Like I know I'm doing it, yeah, but like I want to be doing it faster. Exactly, I want to be getting this done faster. Every time I smoke, it's like, and I listen to a song, I'm like, oh my god, this shit's so good.
Speaker 1Like when I listen to all of my shit, like I'm like oh it's so good.
Speaker 2Dude, I really can't look to get this shit out there. They're like, oh my god, it's so good, and it just pumps me up.
Speaker 1Exactly Gets you going, so I started a new morning routine. Okay.
Speaker 2I sleep with a little earphone next to me. Pop it in. When I'm waking up I put on some music.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Instead of a radio to pump me up, give me some of that endorphins.
Speaker 1There you go.
Speaker 2Which helps so much, that's good, yeah, gets you going.
Speaker 1It really does. It really does.
Speaker 2Helps get you going, my friend, and once I'm going, it's you know, the thing that I'm trying to do the most, which I haven't been doing as good as I should be is I want to go outside for the morning walk right into a cold shower. That's the morning routine. Outside Morning walk, right into a cold shower. That's the morning routine. That's right Morning walk.
Speaker 1Morning walk and then go.
Speaker 2Cold shower and you get back Coffee. Okay, oh, okay.
Speaker 1Interesting, that's it.
Speaker 2That's nice, and then you start your work Right, finish your work Right and you got the rest of the day Okay To to do the extras. You know which is still work for you, because work is what I love to do. Yeah, but it's the extras, it's the stuff that doesn't need to be done, but you would like for you would love to add it.
Speaker 1That's fun too. It's fun. It's like organizing your room and making it different.
Speaker 2Bro, exactly, it's like what this YouTube stuff. It's like once I stopped putting a time limit on it, yeah, once I stopped putting a time limit on it. Oh my God, I have so much stuff to release and it's like now. It's just, I just don't know how to release it. Now, once I figure out a schedule for the episodes that we already have released on audio to do for video, because the videos are a little different.
Speaker 1You know, I made a little flair, no no, it's there, it's just a little flair and I got to make thumbnails. I'm not going to just put a stupid thumbnail up there.
Speaker 2I don't want to just make an AI do it and then put it up there. I want to be able to mess with it, draw it myself. I got my new little fucking pad that I do. You should have brought that out I have been doing. All the art you see is actually me doing fucking lines on top of it. So it's not all AI, guys so don't all think that but no, some of it is AI, though Scarlet's a beast. You know what I'm saying he knows he's met her.
Speaker 2Scarlet's a beast. She is hot. He thinks she's hot.
Speaker 1I don't know.
Speaker 2I've never met, I haven't seen her like that. She hasn't shown me that's hot. But I, I don't, I don't mix. I know Bigsness With Pleasure.
Speaker 1We're out of here.
Speaker 2Son of a bitch.
