Speaker 1:

Welcome to Blood Drops. Today we're going to talk about the ass-slapping, crotch-grabbing movie Deadpool and Wolverine. This movie was fantastic. I enjoyed it immensely. Deadpool and Wolverine was by far one of the summer's greatest kind of roller coaster movies. It is what you want it to be. With that being said, let's talk about the spoiler warning. There may be spoilers, so you should click off if you don't want to be spoiled, because this movie is a fun ride that you should not be spoiled going into. So let's get into it.

Speaker 1:

Deadpool is in a dilemma of a midlife crisis. Deadpool lost his love and, to make things worse, his timeline has fallen apart, disappearing. And guess who is the anchor of Deadpool's timeline Wolverine. And then you have an upstart Mr Paradox, who works for an organization that manages timelines they're called the Time Variance Authority. He's going to show the upper management how to deal with timelines that are falling apart and to get rid of Deadpool, who goes on a search to find a new anchor to other timelines. To find other Wolverines, he brings one back and to get Wolverine and Deadpool out of the way, he sends them to the void, where things go to be deleted and thrown away forever. Bunch of misfits live there and a bunch of other Deadpools, which was kind of a cool little addition to the movie, by the way. You got to see a lot of different Deadpools. Little addition to the movie, by the way. You got to see a lot of different deadpools. So there they find kersenanova, which is professor x's evil sister, twin sister. She's bald she, so kersenanova is bald like professor x. I don't quite understand why. Uh, I don't read a lot of Marvel and I'm not. I don't read a lot of X-Men. I'm more of a Godzilla and Ninja Turtles and comic book guy. With that being said, there are a lot of cameos in this movie. We get good character and story development, yes, and the cameos were tastefully done to comic book fans and movie fans. It's also a heartwarming sort of search for self right. Deadpool is in a dilemma of a midlife crisis who has basically lost everything, and then, on top of that, gets told his timeline is disappearing. So he's in a midlife crisis. Wolverine, on the other hand, is angry and shameful and kind of lost in alcohol and throughout the movie he gets pulled out of that and he finds camaraderie and he gets connected to a group of friends.

Speaker 1:

The cinematography in this movie was good. The CGI hit where it counted and needed to. There was a nice blend of CGI and physical effects. I had three issues technically with this movie. So one CGI blood. God I hategi blood. So much. Cgi liquids for some reason just don't work. We have not left that uncanny valley when it comes to liquids. It was kind of like, uh, what is that movie? Uh, chucky, I can't remember which one, but in one of the Chucky movies they had CGI blood and it was so bad. But again, that was mid-2000s.

Speaker 1:

One thing I had a complaint with was Deadpool's swords pulls swords. So I could tell they missed edit cuts or they didn't do the edit cuts quite right, because they CGI'd his swords being put back into their holders on his back. Well, physically, swords on your back like that don't really work. So it looked like they just kind of disappeared into the sword holder and they kind of tried to play it off as he's really fast, really proficient with his swords, but it looked kind of janky. The second problem that I had is well, the third problem that I had was with the script.

Speaker 1:

There are scenes and they're far and few between that are written for suspense purposes. So you'll come across a scene where character A is doing something and you're thinking in the back of your head why doesn't character a just do this instead of doing what they're doing, right? Well, what's going on there? It's not enough to pull you out of the immersion of the movie and if you're not looking for it, you won't see it or care about it. It's kind of like with the cgi blood and deadpool's swords, like they mitigated that stuff very well. And if you're not looking for it, who cares? It's still a good movie and you're still going to have fun. But for those people who've edited or for those people who have seen a lot of movies, like critics, they'll notice that it's very small, it's very quick. It's kind of like um, laid to rest. If you're not watching laid to rest, you'll notice. Or if you're not paying attention, you'll notice. There's an interesting uh edit cut when the chrome scholars looking in the mirror. They did it. They did it. Interestingly enough, they did a reverse edit there and it's kind of a kind of a bad reverse edit. You notice, you visibly notice it. It's stuff like that that you'll notice if you're looking for it. If you don't see it, then that's fine, you're still gonna have fun. It's still a funny movie.

Speaker 1:

They seed everything in the movie that you need to know. So if you ask the question, why isn't Deadpool's swords breaking when they clash with Wolverine's claws? Well, they seed it. They seed it in the movie. They tell you what his shorts are made of. There are other things, like the cameos that you'll you'll instantly get and laugh. There's one cameo that I didn't quite understand, but I understand where it came from and what it's connected to, but I didn't understand why it was in Deadpool. But again, it didn't break the immersion. It doesn't matter. It was still fun and cool to watch the movie.

Speaker 1:

What did you guys think about this? Let me know, and don't let anybody spoil this movie for you, because it's fun going in cold turkey not knowing anything. So have fun, go and check it out at the theater and if you can find a 3D like you, should go watch it in 3D. This needed a 3D treatment. I don't know why there wasn't one. There are so many scenes, scenes, fight scenes, everywhere that would have been awesome in 3d. I wish they had a 3d treatment. I would have bought tickets for that. I would have paid the extra two, three dollars for 3d to see this in 3d any else. Let me know what you guys.
