Resilience involves facing and accepting suffering rather than avoiding it. Avoiding negative emotions might push them to our unconscious, influencing our behaviour unnoticed. Embracing these emotions, as described in Rumi's poem "The Guest House," can lead to self-awareness and growth. Recognising and confronting our inner struggles strengthens our relationship with ourselves and others, fostering inner resilience. Facing challenges can uncover unexpected strengths and broaden our capacity for empathy and connection. Embracing suffering can lead to deeper understanding and inner strength.
