June 30, 2023 Season 1 Episode 8

The murder of Matthew Shepherd in 1998 was a heinous crime that shook the world. The young gay man was brutally beaten, tied to a fence and left to die by two men who targeted him because of his sexual orientation.

Matthew’s death brought attention to the need for stronger hate crime laws and protections for marginalized communities. His legacy has inspired countless activists, artists, and allies to fight for equality and justice.

Although progress has been made in recent years, with same-sex marriage becoming legal in many countries, much work still needs to be done. Hate crimes continue to occur around the world, reminding us that we must remain vigilant in our efforts to create a more inclusive society where everyone can live without fear of violence or discrimination.

Matthew’s memory lives on as a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of hatred.
