Episodes will not only bring you the specifics of addiction including the neurobiology of addiction and how that translates into the 'real world' but they will also bring you interviews from individuals in early or long-term recovery, therapists, family members, friends, clergy, treatment providers and so much more! 67. AA and the 12 Steps
"The Parable of an Alcoholic Who Was Stuck in a Hole and Could Not Find His Way Out" is the inspiration for this episode. We will first discuss the 'whys' of Alcoholics Anonymous in relationship to this parable and then we will give an overview of each of the 12 steps. These steps, and this program, have stood the test of time and have helped countless people with substance use disorders find and maintain recovery. We will also argue that these steps are not just for those with the disease of addiction.
