Episode 8, Eliminate Preventable Child Deaths

Doug

Global under-five deaths fell from 13 million in 1990 to 5 million in 2021. This major progress in such short time inspire optimim for fixing the world. But we must finish the job. It's neither a difficult nor expensive feat. But it does require popular will, and that's what's lacking. The World Health Organization lists immediate causes of child deaths, birth complications, birth asphyxia or trauma, pneumonia, diarrhea, and malaria. And it lists the treatments, and they are cheap. But the ultimate cause is administrator choices on how to spend money. And there is an abundance of money. But instead of spending it on women and children, administrators spend it on roads, the economy, national security, aerospace research, etc. Why do they do that? Because they are uneducated. They may had degrees, but they don't know what's more important and what is less so, or how to live in accord with true priority. End preventable child deaths now by ending hunger, empowering women, and ensuring real primary education.
