Mar 13, 2024 Season 1 Episode 35
Tatiana Da Silva

In this episode I walk you through a powerful energetic exercise to reclaim your power and restore your inner peace when you are struggling with any situations of conflict or tension that are causing you a lot of distress and emotional reactivity.

This exercise draws on the wisdom and power of the Hawaiian forgiveness ritual Ho'oponopono that I spoke about in Episode 15 (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2193457/13537701) and can have an almost immediate effect in helping you to feel less impacted by aggravating situations, even if the circumstances have not changed.

Hello and welcome to another episode of the integrated wisdom podcast. Thank you so much for joining me for yet another week. This week, I have a very short and sweet episode for you. With just an energetic technique that I wanted to share. That's linked to the forgiveness ritual. Ho'oponopono that, I spoke of a few episodes. Back sometime last year. It's being one of my most popular downloaded. Episodes and I thought. Considering this so much interest in, in that particular topic. That I would share with you. A specific technique. That's extremely powerful. For situations of conflict of tension, where we're getting really aggravated agitated by another person, the actions of another person or a situation, and it's robbing us of our peace and joy. And just for those of you who haven't had a chance to listen to that episode, or just refresh your memory. The Ho'oponopono. As it's called traditionally is a forgiveness ritual. or it's an ancient Hawaiian. Tradition. That is deeply embedded in their culture. And has been studied widely in a variety of different contexts. from how to use it in conflict resolution situations and family law disputes. To study the impact on our body's ability to self heal. Uh, I think in the previous episode I spoke of a specific study where. They looked at the impact of practicing this ritual for lowering blood pressure in individuals who had. dangerous levels of blood pressure that required medication. They were preliminary studies, but they did show that there were some positive indicators that this practice or this self healing practice had the potential to really harness our body's innate wisdom in healing. And lowered, um, people's blood pressure. There's definitely a lot more studies that need to be done to understand the, the way that this methodology works. But the, the early indicator. Of the studies that have been done so far. Have been demonstrating that there is a statistical significance to the positive effects observed where this methodology has been studied. But to give it the broader context. So again, Ho'oponopono, if you were to translate it to English, Roughly translates as making things right. Or bringing things back into balance. And it underpins this concept or represents this concept or perspective. Of reconciliation first and foremost. It's about making things right. It's about. Recognizing. Or fostering in individuals. Recognition. That. We're all interconnected and that what is done to me or what affects me also affects those around me and vice versa. Because we're all intrinsically linked. And. this methodology or this ritual is also under pinned by the understanding that we have a mutual responsibility for each other's wellbeing. So it's all ultimately a practice of self-love. Right. It's about recognizing that when I heal myself. When I love and I nurture myself, I then can become this beacon or this embodiment of love and light for those around me. And so it's about taking responsibility for loving and nurturing ourselves, but also taking responsibility for the part we play. In our challenging interactions with other people. Right. Even though on the surface. We can't see. That there's a part we're playing. It looks like it's something that's being done to us. It's the recognition. That we have. the ability. To influence. Our experience. Right to it's where we find out power, how, how I respond to a situation. How I allow something to. To impact me. That's where my power lies. And this methodology is really about that. It's about that recognition. That I have this power. It's about putting me Back in my own power. But also it's about having. The, the recognition that we can choose. To distance or disconnect ourselves from sources of conflict. In situations that are robbing us of our inner peace. Right by cutting those energetic cords the tie us to people that we find problematic in our lives. Sometimes we can't. We can't avoid those people. Like you might be a work colleague that. That you're interacting with every day and every time you're around them, they, they just agitate you. They irritate you. Or they, they just really like. They cause us to going to that obsessive rumination, where we're always replaying things that have been said or done. We're giving these people way too much. Too much power over our inner landscape. And so what this methodology does, it's, it's helping you to recognize. That you have the power and sovereignty to decide. To not allow. The, the situations, these other people's behaviors to impact you. So that's, what's at the premise of this forgiveness ritual. The recognition, then you have the power. To reflect back to whoever it is, whichever situation it is. Um, only love and acceptance. Rather than allow yourself to get caught in the conflict and feed into that toxic, energetic cord. There are many different exercises that can be done with the structure of these forgiveness ritual, the ho'oponopono. And this one in particular, like I said, it's often useful in situations where there is a conflict or there is that agitation where we can't escape somebody that's aggravating. That's disconcerting for us. But that we want to be able to claim back our power. We want to be able to protect our energy field. And we want to be able to disconnect. From the impact of their behavior is not letting it affect us. Okay. And what often tends to happen when you do this practice? Is, you can still be subjected to the same people, to the same situations that were aggravating you, that were robbing you of your peace, that were causing you a lot of internal distress. And no longer have that internal reaction. It no longer phases. You, you can feel disconnected. In a very peaceful way from the impact of all of that. And so what you would do in this exercise that you use, you would visualize the person you would visualize the situation. And. And you would say these words ideally out loud. Um, but. If you can, if you can't, you can say it in your mind, but ideally it would say it out loud because when we speak, our words have power where there's an energetic resonance to the words that we express. And you would say this person's name, just their first name. So I'm going to use the example of Jane. And you would say. Jane. You are a perfect child of God. Waiting for the opportunity given by me. To serve in the divine plan for my life. And then you would say the words of the ho'oponopono ritual. I am sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. Thank you. So again, I'll give you the structure. Jane. Or John or Rob or Kate? Um, You are. A perfect child of God. Waiting for the opportunity given by me. To serve in the divine plan for my life. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. Thank you. And you would say these words. At least seven times. I always do these things in seven. But you can do it until you start to feel that peace. And it's really about, if you listen to the words. It's about that recognition, right? That. There is a divine plan for the things that I experienced, that there is a divine purpose. There are lessons here for me that are from my own good, that are for my own development. And that sometimes the people that come into our lives that are the causes pain. that cause us, Distress. Sometimes those people are giving us an opportunity. To find. Things within ourselves that we need. To grow. Or to remember. To rediscover our power. And so these words are an acknowledgement of that. That this challenging situation this challenging person, is playing a role, a part in the unfolding of my divine life plan. In the unfolding of me discovering my purpose in some cases, or awakening me to my mission. It can seem very counterintuitive when we're in the thick of the pain. Right. Most of us, if you, if you were asked a question, would you have chosen in this painful situation even it was for you for your aren't good. Most of us would say no, because none of us like to suffer. Right. None of us like to feel pain. But when we can take this step back and recognize that there is. Something for us to be gained, even in the most challenging of situations. It takes us out of the. The feeling of powerlessness of victim hood. And puts us back into that position of empowerment of. Being in the driver's seat of our lives. Right. And so that is the essence of this exercise. I would encourage you to play around with that, to see how you find it. I would love to hear your thoughts on this and it's okay. If, if it feels too jarring, if it feels too confronting. You know, if you have any questions about any of that or. Any alternate perspectives on, on what I've said. I welcome your thoughts.
