Dialysis Patient Citizens

IG Live – October 4th: This month, join DPC Education Center’s healthcare consultant, Dr. Velma Scantlebury, as she answers a wide range of patient questions. Learn about why you shouldn’t skip or shorten your dialysis time, what a parathyroid is, and how CKD patients are made aware of their treatment options.

October is breast cancer awareness month and Dr. Scantlebury explains the importance of keeping up with all of your cancer screenings, particularly if you are on the transplant list. Speaking of the transplant list, it can be particularly confusing to understand how it works. Listen for an explanation of how different information such as genetic markers, antibodies, recipient location and current health situation all factor into who receives a kidney and when. Additionally, Dr. Scantlebury explains sepsis and why it is so dangerous. Give us a listen, and if you have your own questions you’d like to have the doctor answer, tune in for our Live events on both Instagram and Facebook:

  • IG Live @patientcitizens the first Wednesday of each month, 12:30pm EST
  • Facebook Live www.facebook.com/patientcitizens the third Wednesday of each month, 12:30pm EST
