Speaker 1:

Hey guys, I'm Tony and today I've got a question for you. Would you rather have poor health and be rich, or be poor and have good health? Have a good think about it and I want you to see if your answer remains the same by the end of this episode. Have you ever heard of the statement health is wealth? If you haven't, it simply means that anything can be achieved if you have good health. By the end of this episode, you are going to understand the connection between good health and wealth. You are going to understand how staying on top of 4 key areas of your life will have a tremendous positive effect on your health. I'm going to also give out tips on how to elevate those 4 areas of your life. I want you to know that everything that I will be talking about today is no rocket science. You don't need to be smart or talented to implement these strategies to boost your health, but rather you need to have the desire to improve yourself. You need to have the mindset of wanting to change yourself for the better. You might be thinking that when I said wealth, I refer to how much money you are making, and whilst this is partly true, I want you to understand that wealth also means so much more than the dollars in your bank account. Wealth can also mean a plentiful supply of a particular desirable thing. So whatever you desire, it will come in numbers if your health is at its best. So this can mean a plentiful supply of your quality of life, your relationships or, simply put it yourself, confidence.

Speaker 1:

Now I want to share with you my answer to the question of would I rather have poor health and be rich, or be poor and have good health? I would choose to be poor and have good health every single day of the week. This is why there's no doubt about it. What's the use of money when I am sick? I mean my ability to enjoy life will be decreased hugely. Imagine being bed bound sick, unable to move freely and my back aching all the time with every movement and my mind occupied with heavy, emotionally draining thoughts. This will affect how I live my life and my ability to enjoy the simplest things. But if I am healthy physically and mentally, I can still enjoy life. Even if I can't afford materialistic possessions, I still can walk without pain, my mind is free of stress and I can think clearly. My ability to be present in the moment will be increased. They say the best things in life are for free and honestly. This is so true. So next time you wake up to go to work, remind yourself that you are one of the lucky ones who has a job and is able to provide money to buy food for your loved ones, because there are a lot of other people who wishes to be in your position right now.

Speaker 1:

So let's have a quick talk about poor health. Poor health can lead to increased health care costs, like your medicines when you get sick, or doctor visits and surgeries. It's going to reduce your productivity, since you are not at your best and you're going to miss out on opportunities, whether that is at your work or in your love life. And chronic health conditions like diabetes, obesity and heart diseases can limit your ability to work or engage in activities that can generate you income. That sounds very bad already, right? So let's move on to the positive notes about good health. Good health contributes to high levels of productivity and performance. When you are physically and mentally well, you are better able to focus, make better decisions and work efficiently. This enhances your productivity, which can lead to high earning potential and advancements in your career. So all of this can lead to more chance of you creating financial wealth. Good health will allow you to be more productive, focus and resilient, and these are qualities that are essential for career growth and financial success. If that's what you are looking for, okay.

Speaker 1:

So let's move on to the goodies, the real reasons why you guys are watching this episode the four focus areas where you can make a huge improvement to your physical and mental health. The first one is my personal favorite, especially since I am a physiotherapist, and that is physical exercise. Not only does it benefit your physical health, guys, but research shows that, time and time again, regular physical activity can have a positive impact on your mental health as well. Exercise is associated with reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression, and it can prove your mood and overall well-being. Exercise releases endorphins Okay, guys, these are feel-good chemicals that lift up your mood and reduces stress, and as our minds become more clearer and calmer, we open ourselves up to greater Creativity and problem-solving abilities.

Speaker 1:

For example, investing in a gym membership might seem like an expensive Expense at the start, right? So what it's like? $10 or $20 per week? When you really use your membership, probably it can save you costly money from medical treatments relating to inactive lifestyle in the future. So, if you think about it, guys, not only is it going to the gym good for your physical and mental health, but you're also going to save a lot of money in the future. So you're probably asking me hey, tony, what type of exercises should I do, guys?

Speaker 1:

Firstly, do what you enjoy, because that's the secret for you to keep doing it for a long period of time. So if you enjoy running, then go and run. If you enjoy going to the gym, then go to the gym and lift weights. Or If you enjoy doing yoga, then go and do yoga. Or you enjoy skateboarding? Go to the skate park and skate. All right, whatever you enjoy, stick with that.

Speaker 1:

Secondly, have a reason as to why you exercise. The best motivation is intrinsic motivation, something that motivates you within yourself, rather than extrinsic factors, which are external factors, such as other people's opinions. So do you want motivation to start running? Sign up for a five kilometer race. Do you want to start going to the gym? Go to get stronger so you can be more durable at work or so you can look better, to be more attractive. When your motivation occurs because of intrinsic factors, you are more likely to keep going, even during the hard times, because you are doing it for yourself. So the most important thing to do is to get started with any sort of physical exercise. Build it up slowly and enjoy what you do. Your body is going to thank you for it in the future.

Speaker 1:

Now, guys, the second area of focus is a healthy diet. Look, guys, proper nutrition is important for good health. There's just no way around that. Even if you exercise seven days a week but you eat like garbage, just like cookie monster on Sesame Street, you are essentially doing a total reverse on your exercises. A balanced diet with a variety of nutrients, vitamins and minerals is Essential for your body function and preventing chronic diseases. You are what you eat. So if you are feeding your body vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, nuts, seeds and water, you're going to be healthy. But if you eat highly processed food like hot chips, sugary sweet candies, preservatives and chemicals that were artificially made, then your body is going to suffer. So that means what you don't eat is just as important as what you do eat.

Speaker 1:

Stay away from all the bad stuff I just mentioned as much as you can. The easiest way to cut out these bad foods is to leave it out of your sight. They say out of sight, out of mind. So if the chocolate is not in your house, then you won't have the chance to see it and eat it right. One of my favorite ways to get a quick supply of nutrients in my body is after exercise. I usually put frozen fruits like blueberries or strawberries, and some cut up vegetables like spinach, carrots, avocados, into my protein shake. I chuck it all in the blender and then I drink the bad boy up right. You might be thinking, wow, that sounds absolutely disgusting and horrible. But hey, man, you have to try it first and then you be the judge. My protein has natural sweetener in it already, which is going to dampen the veggie taste. So I feel so much better after drinking this because I've got all the good fats, antioxidants and vitamins and minerals that I need in one go. And, of course, experiment with the ingredients that you could try. You could try beetroot in there, and there's some research that shows that beetroot can actually enhance physical performance.

Speaker 1:

Guys, focus area number three is your mental health. I believe that a healthy mind is your most powerful asset. When you are mentally and emotionally balanced, you make better decisions, manage stress more effectively and maintain a more positive outlook, even during challenging times. This resilience can lead to taking opportunities that may not have been visible otherwise. Also, investing in your mental health reduces the risk of burnout and it promotes long term career growth, which is important to accumulating financial wealth.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to share with you a story during a period where I really struggled mentally. I remembered when I broke my wrist from skateboarding in 2021. Yeah, I had a lot of physical pain from breaking my wrist, but that didn't last as long as my mental pain from overthinking and knowing that my independence was lost. I struggled mentally, as I was always someone who did things for myself, so relying on other people and being somewhat abiding to them was against who I was. So the only thing of my hand will never return the same to what it was. It was really taxing on my mental health because, as a physical therapist, I need my hands to work. So I thought it was all over for me at that stage and I was stuck in my feel sorry for myself bubble. But luckily, I had a good support network around me who was supportive of me during this hard time, and I want to thank you guys so much, and I think this is very important for anyone who might be struggling mentally Reach out and speak to someone or anyone that you trust and can confide in.

Speaker 1:

When I started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, my perspective on life opened up again. My mind was more open and clear. It wasn't closed off like it was before, and I was able to be more present with my friends and families. I wanted to go out again. So I want all of you to prioritize your mental health. Invest time to yourself and start taking up mindfulness activities, so that could be journaling for five minutes about your day and About your deepest thoughts every night before you sleep, or meditating for ten minutes to allow you to regain control of your thoughts. I want you to know that, whatever you are going through, you are not alone. For me, knowing that I wasn't alone and it really helped me to get out of that tough period of my life.

Speaker 1:

And Now onto the lucky last focus area. Guys, I'm about to repeat something that you already know. You probably already heard off and you probably aren't still doing it. Remember the time that you slept real late and had to wake up really early. How did it feel? Think about it. Do you feel? Dopey, sleepy days, tired.

Speaker 1:

Getting in enough sleep and not only that, the sleep has to be high quality is super important. Quality sleep is vital for your physical and your mental health. When I say quality sleep, if you're waking up ten times every night, then that is not quality sleep, guys, since your sleep cycle is constantly being disrupted. Quality sleep is the amount of sleep that you get, and Falling asleep quickly is a part of that as well. I'm going to tell you why. Sleeping well is not a luxury, but a must for your mental and physical health. So the lack of sleep can negatively impact your immune function, your mental performance and really your overall well-being. During deep sleep stages, the body undergoes important cellular repair, like repairing your body from damage during the day and the removal of waste products in your body.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so the general guideline is that you should aim to sleep seven to nine hours every night. So to help you with that, I have a few rules that I want you to try to start implementing tonight. Firstly, make sure your bedroom is used for sleeping and sleeping only, not for studying, not for working, exercising or whatever other reasons that you have. When your body associates the bedroom with sleeping, it will be easier for the body to relax and sleep when it needs to. Secondly, sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time. Your body likes routine and Sleeping is no different, guys. When you sleep at a certain time, your body adapts to that time After the day and you will fall asleep a lot quicker. Thirdly, too many of you go into bed with a million thoughts. No wonder you can't sleep, because your mind is occupied with these things that are making you hard to sleep. So, before you sleep, try to clear your head as much as possible, journal your thoughts down, meditate and sort out your thoughts, or do something relaxing, like reading or deep breathing exercises. When you go into bed more relax and with a clear mind, you will fall asleep a lot quicker.

Speaker 1:

Okay, guys, so that's the four focus areas I want you to focus on. Just be a healthier version of yourself. It's true, a healthy mind is a healthy body. So when you start to prioritize self-care, you will be able to handle stress better, make better decisions and stay focused on your goals. Now, guys, preventative care is the key to avoiding expensive medical treatments down the road. So I want you to make those small lifestyle changes, like exercising regularly, having a healthy diet and sleeping well, and you can really boost your health instantly so that you can be in the best physical and mental shape of your life. So, guys, thank you so much for tuning in today's episode. Be sure to subscribe and share this to anyone that you think will benefit from this, because sharing is really caring. Until next time, take care.
