What the heck is in the food I'm eating???
One of my favorite offerings at Authentic Wellness is Food and Environmental Sensitivity / Intolerance testing. Most often people request this test because they are experiencing painful and uncomfortable digestive issues, belching, bloating, constipation, headaches, breathing issues, rashes and skin irritations….they want answers. They want to know if it’s something they are putting in their body that is causing these uncomfortable symptoms. If they know what it is-they can take it out and feel better.
The follow-up meetings are always incredibly interesting. Often, people are surprised with the items listed that are not as straightforward as Eggs, Almonds, Black Pepper or Strawberries. The things that catch folks off guard are the items on their list that are genetically modified in some way, or the preservatives and additives in the food and drinks they consume, the coloring dyes, the chemicals that have these crazy long names, the “substitute foods - all those sugar substitutes or alternatives - or the chemicals that are part of their skin care, home cleaning products or make up…. All of the things that are added to products to make them more appealing - changing the consistency, or color, or taste or smell…..those are the things that are the things that surprise people. Usually the response is- I don't even know how to say that word let alone know what it is???? How do I know it’s in my food or in the products I am using….
Timely, because my friend Heather asked me the other day:
“Missy? What are GMOs and should I be eating them? What's the deal with the coloring and dyes? What the heck is in the food I’m eating???”
