Aug 29, 2023 Season 1 Episode 12
GYM PLUS COFFEE

On this week's episode co-founder Diarmuid McSweeney sits down with Mark O’Malley.

Mark is owner and founder of Wilder Wellbeing, a fitness group based in Salthill, Galway which won Best Drop-In Fitness Class at our Make Life Richer Awards. His passion is to help people create healthier and happier lives filled with movement and energy – with a little bit of Wildness sprinkled into the mix!

Mark talks about his fitness journey, from struggling with depression and weight gain in his late teens and how he used go for a run with a packet of cigarettes in his pocket and a litre of Lucozade in hand and how he used to keep his hood up so nobody would see him, to  how he stuck with the process, educated himself in all things health and fitness, which helped to turn his life around.

Mark offers some great insights into the fitness world and shares that it’s not all about pushing clients to breaking point but sometimes a bit of empathy is needed to get the most of people.

Having been through a tough situation himself, Mark feels he is qualified to offer such support to clients and it’s this fine balance between pushing and empathy that makes Wilder Wellbeing so unique.

If you’re ever in Galway you should definitely swing by for a class.

Hope you enjoy!
