Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Charleston Marketing Podcast, powered by the Charleston American Marketing Association and broadcasting from our home base at Charleston Radio Group. Thanks to CRG, we're able to talk to the movers and shakers of Charleston, from economy to art, from hospitality to tech and everything in between. These leaders have made a home here in the Lowcountry. They live here, they work here, they make change here. Why? Let's talk about it?

Speaker 2:

Hi, my name is Mike Compton, president of Broombell Advertising and your incoming president for Charleston AMA.

Speaker 3:

Hey guys, what's up. I'm Stephanie Barrow, your past AMA president, and I am pumped for season two Pumped charleston marketing podcast we've had an incredible journey so far.

Speaker 2:

Written by stephanie. You're welcome. It sounded all right. I mean, I, maybe I would say it is a journey.

Speaker 3:

It's quite a ride my friend.

Speaker 2:

We couldn't have done it without our listeners and we just wanted to, you know, put a little thank you out there to y'all. Stephanie, did you know that we had over 1,000 downloads On Buzzsprout? Yeah, I know that's quite a few Within our 24 episodes.

Speaker 3:

Okay, but I would like to remind you and listeners because you're sometimes like the dad that's so focused on Buzzsprout. I will tell you that most people like me are listening on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. We have a lot more listeners on that than we do of the $1,000.

Speaker 2:

Well, 32% of y'all are listening on Apple Podcasts.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, shout out to me and my husband who are listening every week. What's up, matthew? What's up?

Speaker 2:

And then 70% of y'all are on mobile. This is the wackadoodle data that you know kind of piqued my interest and I wanted to talk to y'all about is locations.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Drop some knowledge on us. Did you know that 26% of our downloads that's the most of all the downloads so far is from Mount Pleasant? Is that because of you and Matthew? Yeah, brian, are you downloading these? Well, the Charleston Radio Group is right here in the Mount.

Speaker 3:

Pleasant area as well. So you know, shout out to Charleston Radio Group for probably supporting us as well, but yes, I have downloaded all the episodes and I enjoy listening to them, and so does my family, so I'm not surprised that Virginia hasn't popped up on this list, I them, and so does my family, so I'm not surprised that virginia hasn't popped up on this list.

Speaker 2:

I think they have hold on a second I'll get out of the second.

Speaker 3:

Charlotte is in second at 14, so charlotte is over charleston right now. Our own namesake. Well, I will say that the ama chapter in charlotte has been big supporters of the our chapter here.

Speaker 2:

So maybe the triangle ladies shout out to the triangle are probably listening. So thank you for that. So you know, as as we're looking at the data, we are listening to y'all and we have some charlotte hitters coming to town I love it just to talk to us yeah, isn't that nice, that's great so be, uh, be on a lookout, we're gonna listen out yes we have some cool stuff, as my, friend here would say we have some sneaky cool people sneaky cool sneaky cool coming up in season two and we're really, really excited.

Speaker 2:

It has been a fantastic ride which one was your favorite of all the speakers.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, don't do that to me uh-huh so they're all different. Uh, I learned a lot. I really enjoyed all of the AI speakers, for sure, so we had multiple AI speakers, but we also had some very inspirational speakers.

Speaker 2:

Yep More AI speakers to come as well. More.

Speaker 3:

AI speakers to come that we've already. So I liked the history of the city, like Ernest gave a little bit of the history of the city.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

I liked the nonprofits, of course, because some of them are my dear friends. I loved Rhonda Taylor from the Dream Girls Conference and. Margaret Jefferson from Dress for Success. I love my girl, charlotte Berger, who is a PR powerhouse.

Speaker 2:

Fellow Michigander.

Speaker 3:

Yep Miguel Holy City Handcraft. I seriously went home and started making some new recipes. You're just naming things on a list right now, stephanie, I'm just thinking of all my people uh, people that were awesome and uh, yeah, who was your favorite?

Speaker 2:

Jenna Shelnut. Jenna Shelnut was awesome.

Speaker 3:

Who was your favorite?

Speaker 2:

Uh, yeah, I'm gonna tell. I told you that jenna, jenna and steve we had a good time with steve fletcher I wasn't here for that one.

Speaker 3:

That one was good. That was a good lesson, though I enjoyed it with the buffalo group.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she's just a badass um, very cool, very cool, and if you follow her on instagram you can see how cool she really is, really really cool you know, I really liked uh dr tanya, of course, oh of course she was, I've had the chance to meet her and she's just divine. She's like a walking, I don't know divine type of human where I just feel like I trust her. I just want to be her friend. What do you need right now, dr Matthews?

Speaker 3:

That museum is sensational. Who the museum? The?

Speaker 2:

museum is amazing.

Speaker 3:

It's amazing. I loved it. So yeah, Gasser.

Speaker 2:

Gasser was a good one, my old squeeze, our sponsor. He's interesting, he's an interesting guy, very interesting.

Speaker 3:

I didn't know everything about him until that I knew he ran Squeeze and was one of the founders and that kind of thing, but the fact that he has his own YouTube channel you're towards gaming and he's being like a dad-father figure really resonated with me. I was like this guy is awesome being like a dad father figure like really resonated with me. I was like this guy is awesome, like that is. You didn't see that coming, did you? No, I didn't see it coming at all that's why we love these episodes yeah, you get to know all these sneaky cool people

Speaker 2:

of charleston, people you're ruining that, by the way, that's sneaky cool. I think it's cool.

Speaker 3:

I think we should coin it like we're the charleston american marketing podcast and we know the sneaky cool people of charleston. I like I like it.

Speaker 2:

T-shirts will be made. Branded merch will be happening on our website. You guys can vote on that.

Speaker 3:

Koozies, I'm down, let's do it.

Speaker 2:

Do you know who had the most downloads?

Speaker 3:

by far Easily our girl Olivia Flowers.

Speaker 2:

Insane 183 downloads for her. The next best one, I think, was what? 69 downloads?

Speaker 3:

She crushed it. She's amazing. I want to talk to more of that type like. She's doing some really neat she's actually starting her own YouTube channel.

Speaker 2:

Okay, well, let's follow up.

Speaker 3:

She's right now with our boy, jake, who's on the Charleston AMA board in LA. They're filming segments now all over the city.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's neat.

Speaker 3:

I just saw them filming yesterday behind the Hollywood sign. They're doing a lot of cool stuff. She's amazing. She's not going to be on the season upcoming, probably because she's too normal and she was too. She could not.

Speaker 2:

Shots fired to the others then huh. Well, you got to be kind of to be interesting, right?

Speaker 3:

Well, I'm very Team Olivia, because I feel like there's a girl code.

Speaker 2:

We're not going to get into the girl code, but I even still. Outside of our show. You were Team Olivia, I was Team Olivia because there's a girl code.

Speaker 3:

But she's doing some cool stuff. We'd love to have her back and we would love to have some of the other.

Speaker 2:

You know, southern charm cast influencers of some sort, people that uh do really neat things around uh around charleston and live here. Really, it's kind of again. We just wanted to say thanks to our listeners and let y'all know that uh, we're going to do season two. It's coming up yes, season two it's coming up and we'll be dropping episodes at the same time. Uh, on the first thursday we're just gonna rinse and repeat what we did our first year with some great people I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it and so far it's been a blast right, right, a great time um and then.

Speaker 2:

So let's just do a quick thank you also to our sponsors, obviously the Charleston Radio Group Jerry feels good with the beats and the American Marketing Association, charleston chapter.

Speaker 3:

Can't do it without these guys. No, kelly behind the camera.

Speaker 2:

Fantastic. Yeah, yeah, thank you very much. Thank you much, brian on the board.

Speaker 3:

Brian's the best. He's absolutely the best.

Speaker 2:

And then shout out to Paul O'Malley, who we will be talking to as well.

Speaker 3:

Yep, his episode is getting taped in September, so it's going to be dropping this fall. So that's really exciting.

Speaker 2:

Thanks for letting us hang out. Oh, it's been awesome.

Speaker 3:

Some other cool stuff going on with the Charleston AMA chapter is that Squeeze Awards are coming.

Speaker 2:

The Squeeze Awards or the Spark Awards. Are we rebranding now? How much did they pay for this?

Speaker 3:

Did you see what I just did there? It was like one of those Freudian slips, Like we're having the Spark. Awards this fall brought to you by Squeeze Marketing. So there you go, but yes, the Spark Awards are coming up in November, so that's exciting.

Speaker 2:

Spark Awards are very exciting. We are in the midst of working that all out and looking for some cool stuff. If you have a question, came in about Spark real quick. Can anybody enter us into the Spark Awards?

Speaker 3:

Yes, anyone with marketing can enter.

Speaker 2:

Any kind of collateral right, Any kind of collateral.

Speaker 3:

We actually have new categories this year, one of them being Best Podcast.

Speaker 2:

Ooh hey, so that's of collateral we actually have new categories this year, one of them being best podcast. Oh, hey.

Speaker 3:

So that's wonder if we're gonna win that one. Well, we're not gonna vote for ourselves so that's not gonna probably happen, but there are some. There's some new, some new categories this year, which is exciting, but we've had people enter the for the spark awards that were not marketing agencies. We've had a lot of non book covers, that kind of thing. So, yeah, no, we've had.

Speaker 2:

I think Mex won multiple times which is a local restaurant With the really cool experience that they do, oh yeah.

Speaker 3:

The snowboard.

Speaker 2:

Oh man, I haven't been to that, you haven't been. It's kids friendly.

Speaker 3:

Bring your kids, it's a great time.

Speaker 2:

I bet it's a good time, what else? So yeah, let's wrap it up. Lots going on in the Charleston AMA marketing front and the AMA. We're going to dive into SEO strategies. Yeah, ai speakers, we talked about that. So, again, this is just the beginning. Season two is going to bring you some great content, some great interviews and we would love to hear from you guys.

Speaker 3:

So if you have suggestions on speakers, please DM us.

Speaker 2:

Can you give us a review?

Speaker 3:

That kind of thing. There's a Bumba's gift card really out there in the universe for whoever leaves our first comment? What?

Speaker 2:

is it again? What is it?

Speaker 3:

Bumba.

Speaker 2:

What is Bumba's?

Speaker 3:

It's a great restaurant that's downtown, that's Charlotte Burger.

Speaker 2:

That's the PR for yeah, yeah, yeah. But what was the deal?

Speaker 3:

Whoever leaves a comment on one of our videos.

Speaker 2:

No, it's just any video. It was the Charlotte video. Well, it was.

Speaker 3:

Charlotte's video. But now we're kind of opening it up to the masses. We're trying to get some engagement here.

Speaker 2:

We're trying to get some engagement here.

Speaker 3:

What's wrong with that? No, nothing wrong with that. It's, we're here for the endless plugs and shameless promotions.

Speaker 2:

So that's just what we do, right? I don't know. I like to build community. I do too. We are looking for volunteers for the Spark Awards to be on our committees, board members, anybody?

Speaker 3:

And we're looking for sponsors for our podcast. So if you have a business that you would like to be plugged here during one of our, that'd be great.
