Speaker 1:

yeah, yeah, hey now hey, yeah, welcome.

Speaker 2:

Welcome back to the patch keeps podcast. Always a pleasure to be with you. It's number 105. Number 105, that's right. It's a presidential Thursday, 27th day of June In the year of our lord, 2024. Peeking out my studio windows, out of my new French doors, into the beautiful foothills Of Northern California. It is a gorgeous day, doesn't seem too hot. There is a slight breeze, which is beautiful. Yes, it's beautiful. Thank you very much. Thank you. Studio audience. Well, thank you, thank you, it's a beautiful day out there. How are you? You're on Pat's Peeps 105.

Speaker 2:

I have a few things on my mind. I'm also the host of the Pat Walsh Show, as heard on KFPK in Sacramento and everywhere on your free iHeart app. And tonight, by the way, going to be somewhat preempted, because tonight is the night you've been waiting for, isn't it? Tonight is the presidential debate, donald Trump and Joe Biden finally going at it on CNN. I'm glad they found a network that is unbiased, like CNN. Very nice job. While they're talking, the other guy will have his mic muted, so we don't get to hear all the snarky, snide comments, the oh brother, or what an ass, or yeah, I got your right here. Whatever it might be, we're going to miss those. But you know, are you going to listen? Are you going to watch it on TV? I will be preempted for a bit on my show, like I said for the debate, which is understandable, then we're going to talk about it.

Speaker 2:

Gary Dietrich is my friend political analyst, who'll come on at the 9 o'clock hour after doing some TV stuff. He's excellent. He is neutral. We truly he, not me. He's unbiased and he brings it to you in a very neutral manner. So I like that, because you don't find that very often I'm very snide and a smart ass, quite frankly, and that's how I deal with things. So that's happening tonight.

Speaker 2:

My question is and I presented this on my Facebook page today Let me ask you is this debate here in June? We have an election coming up in November. Is this going to sway you one way or another? Like, are you going to go? Hmm, you know, joe has a good point there. You know, I think I'm changing my mind. The man makes sense. Yep, he's getting my vote. Or man, you know, I think I'm changing my mind.

Speaker 2:

The man makes sense. Yep, he's getting my vote. Or man, you know, donald Trump, I didn't give him enough credit. I think the guy's good. I didn't realize. Is that what you're going to do? I mean, are you on the fence? I don't know many people who are on the fence. No, I just don't. So I don't know if this is going to sway anyone, but I think it's going to be huge in terms of the viewership and the listenership, and I think people are tuned in because more they want to see perhaps a sideshow or fireworks, rather than being what it should be at the central point of it all, which is what's best for our country. Isn't that what we should be concentrating on, you know?

Speaker 2:

I mean it really is, but yet we have fun with it and it's, you know, it's been something that many of us have been getting into forever. Many people love the debates and going back many, many debates. You know, what I loved was Lloyd Benson. I'm not a liberal, but you know I'm not even a Democrat. You know I'm not going to tell you if I'm a Democrat or Republican. You make the call. I'll just say I'm not a Democrat and I'm not an independent. I'm sort of on my own thing, you know, but I lean more. Whatever Republican, whatever, no biggie. But credit where credit is due, lloyd Benson, even if I consider myself a Republican and I don't agree with everything the Republicans do. But I, you know, I got to go somewhere. You know I have beliefs which are more conservative in many ways, somewhat liberal in others, I guess.

Speaker 2:

But Dan Quayle was a buffoon, our vice president at the time, and under Bush he was a buffoon. And when Bannon called him about, you know, I knew Jack Kennedy and you, sir, I know Jack Kennedy the look on Quayle's face was absolutely priceless. I mean, it was just the look Hilarious. Where's the laughter button? Oh, there's the hey. You know, jack Kennedy, I never get to use these? Where's the laughter button? Oh, there we go. The look in, dan Quayle. I never get to use these buttons on my little board here. I know Jack Dan, I knew Jack Kennedy. You're no Jack Kennedy. Thank you so much. That was a good moment.

Speaker 2:

Thank you very much, it was very good. So that's on tonight and then, once it is over, then we will have, of course, we will have an opportunity to talk about it, which is why radio is so great. You're not going to I made this point on my show last night you're not going to call the TV station, like when the debate is over, you're not going to go. Hey, let me call Honey. I'm going to call the station, the TV station. That's good dear, you call. You call it. You get the newsroom.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, can I talk to someone about the debate? Like, who are you going to talk to? The editor, the news guy? You know the sports guy, the weatherman? There's no one you're going to talk to. That's just the way it is.

Speaker 2:

Are you going to go on social media and put up a comment, you know whatever? But you can't get a hold of the newspaper and tell them. I mean, maybe you're in the editorial section or what have you Two days from now or the next day? But radio is immediate, immediate gratification, an immediate avenue to get your thoughts out there right after the debate. That's why I love radio more than any other medium after the debate. That's why I love radio more than any other medium. Now, if you are looking perhaps for something to sway your vote, if you are getting splinters in your tukus sitting on the fence, maybe some music will help you make it. You know I'm a music guy, that's me. You know me. You know I'm going to go to music. Maybe you know, I guess both of these presidential candidates, even in their you know, 70s, 80s, whatever, they're still putting out good tunes. I mean Joe Biden, you can't deny his country song.

Speaker 4:

Maybe this will help sway you a little bit. Maybe just check Joe Biden. You can't deny his country song.

Speaker 2:

Maybe this will help sway you a little bit.

Speaker 4:

I mean Joe, joe, jericho, jericho Obama's we be. I'm the big guy, savior on the beat. Black people can't get voter ID. They don't have Wi-Fi, like you and me. I call all Hispanic people and text and you ain't black. If you don't vote for me, trump will put your back in chains.

Speaker 4:

I left a shower with my daughter to this every day. Oh geez, that's a heck of a country song. She is a genius. Throw guns in the trash and skindles on this. You can't go to a Dunkin' Donuts or even a 7-Eleven. In this you have just the slightest of an Indian accent. I do not want my children growing up in the racial jungle and sharing a bus. I'm so sad that they close choice to rush and I really miss Robert Byrne. He was my bud. I love Smith and Children. I love Hillary Clinton. I love spending billions. Is this a hit? Dollars drawing, striking buildings Is this a hit song? Open up the border and then, in defending all, if you change your gender, we'll promote you to general. Watch her work for Sanders. Tell his expose. All Hit song. Oh God, oh my God, wow, wow. That's the new one to 7-Eleven, unless you have just the slightest of it.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's the new one. And the new country tune Joe Biden. Everybody that's hitting the charts. Baby, what do you think you're on Pat's Peeps 105. Back-to-back political hits right here on Pat's Peeps 105. Got the new country rap tune, this one from Donald Trump. This one's called God Bless the USA, enjoy peeps 105. Got the new country rap tune, this one from donald trump.

Speaker 3:

This is called god bless the usa, enjoy this time in a country rap song, shout out high rest, god bless the usa. Stop sending billions to Ukraine. Put America first for a change. When they fail, I'm the one that they blame. I only ran for president cause I had one thing on my mind To make the country better than a severed pin. But you got Biden's lies, and if you love the country Then we're on the same side. I got love for America. I got American pride. They tried to kick me out the White House Next year. That's my house. Fafo around and find out Trump 2024, all the communists, they will cry. Now to kick me out the white house next year, that's my house. Faffo around and find out trump 2024. All the communists, they will cry. Now. No more fake news selling lies. Now cnn stands for the clinton news network. I'm the only president to leave with a lower net worth. Biden took office. Oh boy, did it get worse. I guess that means that I was better than my successor. I only Check out Hi-Rez.

Speaker 2:

TV it's Trump to Don. God bless the USA. A lot of this content gets demonetized. So yeah, Hi-Rez TV. I got that for America, I got.

Speaker 3:

American pride, so no one from Donald Trump.

Speaker 2:

I had Pat's Peeps 105. That's right, 134 here locally. How you doing. It's a presidential debate Thursday, thank you. Thank you very much. So there you go. Maybe that'll sway you one of those two songs, I don't know. What do I know? I'm just going by what I'm hearing so we'll see on the radio, when it comes to the debate, what else is going on.

Speaker 1:

Let's see.

Speaker 2:

Yesterday well, a couple days ago, I just did. I wanted to mention this. A couple of days ago was June Lockhart's 99th birthday and I posted a photo of June Lockhart and myself in the green room at the Disney Music Hall in Los Angeles. And I posted a photo of June Lockhart and myself. This beautiful woman turned 99. Now in this room. I was so blessed to be there, took my friend, tony Cox, we went down there and we saw the symphony orchestra and we went backstage and we went into the green room and we spent time. It wasn't a meet and greet, it wasn't, like you know, pay money and go back and get autographs of old stars. No, no, no, it was just we got to go back there in the green room and just visit with them. I may have told you know a couple of stories about this on an earlier podcast, so I don't really want to repeat myself. But to suffice it to say, suffice it to say you know they were back there in. You know, where would June Lockhart? Dick Van Dyke, pat Boone was in there Connie Stevens, wink Martindale, richard Sherman who, with his brother Robert Sherman, wrote some of the greatest Disney hits of all time Chitty, chitty, bang Bang. It's a Small World Spoonful of Sugar, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious the Jungle Book, all of that stuff. And here's June Lockhart and I'm talking to her. We're sitting there on this sofa and I knew she was going to be there, so I brought my lunchbox. It's my Lost in Space lunchbox. You remember, lost in Space from the 1960s. And I said to her I had such a pleasure to meet you and I said I brought this lunchbox because it's from elementary school. I've kept it all these years and I had to show it to you. Here you are, in the little I couldn't remember the name of the little space vehicle, but the little space vehicle with the Lost in Space family, but the little space vehicle with the Lost in Space family. They were in there with, you know, the robot and the boy and Dr Smith, the biggest coward in all of television. The boy it was the robot's fault and I'm showing her this and she was truly delighted to see this Lost in space. She was delighted to see that I still had this lunchbox from when I was a kid. My gosh, I can't believe you have this. Also, the mother in Lassie, right, you know, she looked beautiful. If you look at the picture of her, she looks stunning. June Lockhart, I used to watch this every week, I couldn't wait.

Speaker 2:

Mark Goddard, who else was in the show? Marta Kristen, also starring Billy Mummy. Of course you know about Billy Mummy, right, what he did later. Angela Cartwright as Penny, who was the. Jonathan Harris was a guest star this week. Who played Guy Williams? Who was Dr Smith? Zachariah, what was the guy's name? The biggest coward, zachariah Smith. Who was that guy? Maybe I mentioned him already. Even the theme song brings back great memories. Anyhow, dr Smith was in here. What's the guy's name? So, and when they talk about Billy Mummy, billy Mummy played the boy right in Lost in Space. Do you remember what he did? Now I'm going off on a tangent. Billy Mummy ended up doing a song that they used to play on Dr Demento all the time, barnes and Barnes, a song called Fish Heads. Anyone remember this?

Speaker 4:

Fish heads, fish heads, roly-poly fish heads, Fish heads, fish heads. Eat them up, yum.

Speaker 2:

So strange Fish heads, fish heads roly-poly fish heads, so strange.

Speaker 3:

This is what you really call. I digress going from June Lockhart to fish heads.

Speaker 2:

Maybe you've never heard this one. Huh, Hi the good, Dr Demento and Barnes and Barnes Fish Heads.

Speaker 3:

Ask a fish head anything you want to. They won't answer, they can't talk.

Speaker 2:

Oh my goodness, hurry, hurry. Fish heads, fish heads, fish heads. Anyone heard this?

Speaker 1:

I took a fish head out to see a movie, didn't?

Speaker 2:

have to pay to get him in. What is he? They don't wear sweaters. They don't play drums. Isn't that one of the lyrics? Billy Mummy, the boy in Lost in.

Speaker 4:

Space they can't play baseball.

Speaker 3:

They don't wear sweaters. They're not good dancers, they don't play drums.

Speaker 2:

Anyhow that's called. I Digress. There we go. Happy 99th birthday to June Lockhart, who led me to Billy Mummy, who led me to Fish Heads. It's the way things connect. It's the way my brain connects the dots. So thank you for putting up with me on that. What else do we have? You know, speaking of that, speaking of Dr Demento, and perhaps songs you haven't heard, I have a couple of more.

Speaker 2:

I wanted to bring you some songs that I've never heard and maybe you've never heard, right after I drop everything. Hold on, all right, where was I? So here's? Hold on, all right. What did I do with everything? I don't know, I just lost my place. So I have songs that you may have never heard. I literally lost my place. Okay, it doesn't really matter, I can do this. So here we go. Here is I picked.

Speaker 2:

You know, I always pick records from my record collection, my ultra rare record collection, at the end of each one of my podcasts, each one of my peeps, and I picked one today and I thought man, you know, I've never heard this, and so I thought we would take a listen, and this had to be one that they played on Dr Demento. This is on Rock and Roll Records. How cool is that? Starting to lose my voice on broadcasting so much Rock and Roll Records. Demonstration not for sale. White label Publisher. Holy moly music Publisher. Holy moly music Publisher. Holy moly music for Booker Music BMI 1988,. All right, I could look at this and say I don't think this one's ever been played, but I do believe that this one and I think it's the same, yeah, same song on both sides this had to have been played on Dr Demento. I can only imagine this one is from the album Even Worse, this is Weird. Al Yankovic in a song called Lasagna Lasagna.

Speaker 1:

Lasagna. I have no idea where this is going. Oh boy, all right, all right. I mean, the guy is clever.

Speaker 2:

I like some of his songs better than others. This one would get on my nerves quick. I get it already, oh God, yeah, that's that out of the shelf life of about 42 seconds for me Again. He has other ones that I like much better. For instance, what is the one Amish Paradise? I do enjoy that one. Here's one for you. This song had an alternative title at one point, called the Mutant Beast. This is from 1970.

Speaker 2:

It's from a 1976 independent monster movie directed by Robert L Burrell. Now here is the plot for this movie and then I'll tell you the name of it. Well, I'll just tell you the name of it now. It's called the Milpitas Monster. Anyone heard of this one? So when a landfill is over full, according to the plot, and pollution reaches its maximum, a monster is born, nancy Pelosi, who roams the earth in bands of no, never mind Made from garbage. So a monster's born made from garbage. I need to see this. And bearing a resemblance to Nancy Pelosi, oh no, a giant fly. The Milpitas monster has an uncontrollable desire to consume large quantities of garbage cans. See, some high school students find out about the monster and then they attempt to destroy it Without further ado. Let's put it on the turntable from 1976. The name of it the Milpitas Monster. Here we go, look up.

Speaker 1:

Look out of sight, watch what you do and watch where you go, cause it'll be out tonight. Right now there's something in the air, but don't be long, cause it won't do you harm If you get up here, the little piece On Statham Louisville, spreading terror through our town. It seems that drunken fools are singing, stalking in the shadows now, but We'll all see him. We all will see him. We'll all see him.

Speaker 2:

See him, see him, see him, we'll all see him. The Milpitas Monster, how about that? From the movie, apparently, the flip side of this, which I do not have, I wish I did. I'll have to search to see if I can find it, see if I actually do have it. The flip side of this, I think, is also from the movie and it's called Dining on the City Dump. So I'll see, I'll find out, if'll find out if I have a copy of that, and if I do, then, my gosh, we'll come back and play that one.

Speaker 2:

Now, speaking of songs that I've never heard, I'm a big fan of this band and so I'm really surprised that I don't know this song. Maybe when I play it I do, but I don't recognize the title. And these guys had a bunch of hits. So this one came out. Boy, there's two of these records in the sleeve as well, two of the records. They are in perfect mint condition. Mercury Records got a radio stamp Someone stamped. It says November 1975. Promotion copy, not for sale, excuse me. Mercury Records, stereo, on both sides, on both records and, again, like I say, in absolute mint condition.

Speaker 2:

And it was first recorded by this Canadian group which had a ton of hits, like I said, and first recorded by this group as a non-album single. Maybe that's why I don't know it. You know, just like how many of you know which non-album single was from Led Zeppelin? Anyone know? Anyone know what is a non-album single from Led Zeppelin? Great song by Zeppelin, but was never on an album. Anyone know? I wish I had. I keep saying anyone know, as if I'm going to get calls on this like my radio show, but I don't, I'm going to make. I'm going to make that happen, though, just in case you're wondering, this great song by Zeppelin was never released on an album.

Speaker 1:

This is not from my records by the way, can I do Led Zeppelin?

Speaker 2:

Never released on an album, Just as a single. So that's what I'm saying. It's like a little example of what I'm trying to say right there. So this was released. I said I missed the thought Wow, this is going to be a big hit. It's not even going to be on the album. We're going to just show them how cool this is, Not put it on an album. Going to be on the album. We're going to just show them how cool this is not put it on an album.

Speaker 2:

So the lead vocal is provided by Randy Bachman. Give it Away, BTO. It was the only non-album single by Bachman Turner Overdrive ever, though it was included on some other later releases. You know head-on album CD format. The song just missed the US Top 40. It peaked at number 43. So maybe I have heard it. I just forgot about it by the name. That was on the Billboard Hot 100 January 3076. Did much better in Canada. Their home country Peaked at number 13 on the Canadian RPM charts, baby. So this song is a 1975 song and, like I said right there, it says November. Well, this one says yeah, November of 75 on the record, Written by Randy Bachman and Kim Fowley, Mark Anthony Vincent Furnier, better known as Alice Cooper, and recorded by Bachman Turner Overdrive.

Speaker 2:

I've never heard the song Down to the Line, have you? Let's take a listen to Down to the Line by Bachman Turner Overdrive here. Put it on the old record player. Here we go. There's no need to come up with worries, Cause I'm a real straight shooter and I put you for me, I'll always try to Never heard this, Never. I don't live in no dream, I just don't feel alive. There's that BTO sound right there. I just down to the line. There's that BTO sound right there. You know, I made it all right Down to the line, Singin' up all night Down to the line. It's the way to live life. You can kind of see why this one wasn't. I mean, I don't think this is their best song. Ah, what do the Canadians know, right? Yeah, Thank you for joining me on Pat's Peeps 105. See, I hope to see you for number 106 as well. We'll see you on the radio, Thank you.
