Speaker 1:

on a friday. I welcome you back to the pats peeps podcast. I think I think we went five for five this week, if I'm not mistaken. Five days, five, five podcasts, that's right. Thank you for tuning in on the 19th day of July 2024. Hoping you're well. My name is Pat Walsh, also host of the Pat Walsh Show, heard nationally, internationally on the iHeartRadio app and locally on KFPK in Sacramento. And yep, as I look out my studio windows in the beautiful foothills of Northern California, it's a man it was hot yesterday, I thought.

Speaker 1:

Yesterday I thought it was like 91 or two. Then I went outside, my God, it was like 10, I don't know like 106. I don't know what it was really hot Today, another hot day, slight breeze, but that's where we are Wherever you're listening. Do appreciate that very much. Last night, of course, and this week, a little heavy on the political stuff. We're not really a political show, either the podcast or my radio show per se, but let me tell you I do talk politics because I think it's very important to talk politics. Of course we have fun. We do a lot of other things on my show to distract us from the chaos of politics and sometimes, quite frankly, the embarrassment of politics, the frustration and so on and so forth. But when we really need to get to the meat of the matter, we do that and we discuss it and I think we're pretty good at it. Quite frankly, a lot of good feedback this week as I've been really hosting the RNC on radio, all the coverage for KFPK and certainly the Sacramento area, taking phone calls once it's over.

Speaker 1:

Last night, of course, was the final night of the Republican National Convention and the former president spoke Hulk Hogan was there. Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham and the great Billy Graham. It was just Tucker Carlson, a good lineup of people, kid Rock and Evangelical Christian, as I was trying to say there, but yeah, I mean a good lineup, touched on a lot of different areas. It was a very family atmosphere, I thought, wholesome atmosphere. I am just judging it on what I saw, what I felt, and I'm not going to BS anyone. It felt really, really good.

Speaker 1:

I'm sitting there looking at this and going how can you not think that this is a pretty good thing right here? I mean, can we throw the political differences aside just for a moment? I don't think we can to answer my own question, but I wish we could. Because I don't think we can to answer my own question, but I wish we could because, I don't know, maybe some people were swayed last night or persuaded, or even have been since the, the attempted assassination attempt, which is the same as I spoke about before. That that's what it takes, but I looked at it. Okay, you know. Let me just say this I thought it was a very good speech. It was long.

Speaker 1:

You know, one of the things I do as I'm hosting the radio show if this speech goes on, we take it live. So, essentially, while whoever is speaking it was JD Vance one night last night, trump or whomever it is you let him speak. And then when you get some big applause when they get a big applause you kind of break in and you say you know something to the effect of you're listening to donald trump at the podium at the republican national convention, you listen to kfpk radio, just to give them a little reminder, you know, and as I'm sitting there, that's kind of my and then to take the calls afterward and see what you guys think afterwards. But I did notice. I thought, wow, I expected maybe an hour. It was an hour and 31 minutes, hour and 33 minutes, whatever. Now, my feelings on that are that the people enjoyed it, they didn't care. They could have gone for two hours.

Speaker 1:

So when you get these bonehead liberal a-holes on these other networks saying the most obnoxious lies, stating the most obnoxious lies, these are buffoons. I don't know where these people come from. Was it a little bit long-winded? Okay, okay, fine, here's the deal. Though, in case you didn't notice, the man was shot at and almost lost his life. So you're going to spend several minutes, of course, explaining to people how you're feeling, going through what happened, and, as he said last night, the former president, I'm only going to do this one time, but if you listen to CNN, msnbc, any of these whiny liberal networks, it is so freaking embarrassing. I don't understand. They can't look themselves in the mirror. Are you that short? Do you have that short of attention span? And then the BS that they say about it afterwards. It is. You know. I wish I cursed sometimes on my podcast, because it's effing unreal man to listen to these boneheads. It's sickening real man to listen to these boneheads. It's sickening. I mean, anyone with a pulse could tell that there was good energy in that building last night, and they make it all about well. It's got to be more about, though, than Hulk Hogan ripping his shirt open. Oh, oh, yes, you're so clever. What's the guy's name? Van Jones? I feel like that Van Jones.

Speaker 1:

I wish he'd come on my show and debate me, because this dude's in straight up knucklehead. Come on my show and debate me, sir. You say crap. That makes no sense. See, I'm getting all keyed up about this. That's why I don't get into politics all the time, but listen, I got to respond.

Speaker 1:

If you listen, I'll just give you some examples. It's okay if we have a different opinion on something. I'm not saying that we all have a different opinion. But let me ask you do you think anyone on CNN would come on, someone who actually works as an employee for the Communist News Network and say, oh, I think that was a wonderful speech. Certainly you know adding more to the party and certainly I think people felt good about this and perhaps he's picked up votes, people who are wondering what you know. No, just like the flip side, Fox isn't going to go. Well, bob, that's one of the worst speeches I've ever seen. But to tell us it was a rambling, incoherent, racist speech is complete and utter nonsense. And again, the fact that he spent a little bit of time on being an assassination attempt. Just be quiet about it, quit whining.

Speaker 1:

And here's another thing they do they play up the Band-Aid. I heard someone say, oh, he's playing that Band-Aid, playing that up. This is what these liberal media people oh, yeah, he's going to leave it on there until it starts to stink. Oh golly, shucks. And a lot of the CNN coverage, by the way they put a little box up there with these fools in there and then they put the convention in the background. They weren't at the convention. I mean they may have had part of their coverage, I don't know. I can't stomach it for very long, but these fools were not at the convention, at least much of the coverage I saw. Now, to be fair, and I'm talking yeah, there is some studio coverage. Right, there is some coverage on the floor. I did see that boneheaded MSNBC there. But if I play this for you, you'll notice a remarkable difference in the coverage. It's just absolutely amazing to me. So let's do that. Here is I'm going to play CNN and their embarrassing wrap-up of the RNC.

Speaker 3:

President Trump spoke for one hour and 32 minutes, which I'm told is the longest speech for a nomination acceptance by a major party figure in modern American political history.

Speaker 2:

You know, there's something, a phenomenon in this campaign, called Trump amnesia, and that's the idea that a lot of people have forgotten what they either liked or loathed about Trump during his four years as president, and over the course of this hour and a half, you were reminded of what you liked or loathed about Donald Trump.

Speaker 4:

I got a lot of messages from people saying this is a great reminder of why a lot of people were exhausted by the end of the first Trump presidency and will be having second thoughts about whether they want to go through that again.

Speaker 1:

Yes, this is a good reminder of why people were exhausted by the first Trump presidency and a reminder of they may not want to go through it again. Really, where'd you catch on with that? Where did you feel that? What made you feel that way? Was it the people yelling and supporting him and applauding? Was that what made you feel like that? Is it the poll numbers that are so high against Biden at this point that you're trying to literally find a different candidate just four months out from the election to replace the guy that you've been supporting and shoving down our throats for four years? Are you kidding me with that bs? He had the whole world in his hands.

Speaker 5:

He, if he had just stayed with that unity message, he might have caused some problems. He just could not uh-huh help himself. If, by yeah, uh-huh, he had given a speech that incoherent, that rambling, that undisciplined democrats would have hit biden with a track like dart and drug him off.

Speaker 1:

So rambling and incoherent. That rambling and incoherent, you see what I'm saying. I'm'm sorry, Was he incoherent? Because I got a feeling that I'm a pretty smart guy not to brag, but I sure as hell knew what he was saying. I know that every person that I know that has a brain who is intelligent knew what he was saying. I don't seem in any way was he incoherent. And here's what I love, what they say too.

Speaker 1:

Well, he went off teleprompter a few times and when he went off teleprompter you could yeah, the same old Trump, Just because your guy can't go off teleprompter and can barely read the teleprompter. So now you got a last shout to a guy who can really own a room by his impromptu comments. Sometimes his comments, I admit, are a little off color, but they weren't last night. So if you want to wander off of the teleprompter, as a guy who was in media, you're trying to be real. You're trying to infuse some things, some humor, some things about families or what have you are going to kiss the fireman's suit and helmet and not just stick to the prompter. So this is the garbage that they feed you. And I'm being honest as a media guy. Let's hear the rest of this crap.

Speaker 5:

We're now back into a normal campaign dynamic where Trump took what was the most energetic convention, and he was boring. He was the most energetic convention and he was boring. He took the most disciplined uh convention. He was undisciplined. He basically was the worst part of his own convention he was boring, he was the worst part.

Speaker 1:

Of his own convention says who you well?

Speaker 6:

I'll tell you what. Who doesn't think that?

Speaker 1:

I'll tell you what Says who. You Well, I'll tell you what. Who doesn't think that? I'll tell you what here's? Who doesn't think that All the people that were there yelling and cheering, they didn't think that, they didn't think that the people who are going to vote for him this year aren't going to think, they don't think that you have people coming to take Biden away? They got to go, joe got to go. And yet I'm on my computer at work yesterday and a commercial comes on before I get to a YouTube video and it's Barack Obama, asking each one of us for $5 to help Biden and Kamala's campaign. Yet at the very same time, you have Chuck Schumer, this loser who was attached at the hip to Nancy Pelosi, now urging the president to step aside, now urging the president to step aside. So this is no. All this is is an attempt to somehow bring Trump into the same muck and the same quicksand that the Democratic Party is mired in right now.

Speaker 7:

I have to tell you Chris Wallace said this this is the first good thing that's happened to Democrats in the last three weeks.

Speaker 6:

I mean.

Speaker 1:

I've got to tell you this is the first good thing that's happened to Democrats in the last three weeks. Really, Really. You believe that. You actually believe that let's let this guy finish this.

Speaker 7:

Really reminded everyone why Donald Trump is fundamentally unpopular outside this room.

Speaker 3:

Daniel, you've listened to.

Speaker 1:

He's fundamentally unpopular outside the room, daniel, you've listened to. He's fundamentally unpopular outside the room, oh yeah, outside the room, and in every single, practically every state where he is leading in the polls. But other than that, mr Jackass, other than that, hey, that's absolutely right, I haven't even got to Van.

Speaker 3:

Jones, this idiot. Quite a few Trump speeches and I know that the challenge of being a fact checker in this modern era, especially if President Trump is, oh shut up, all right, so I just can't take it.

Speaker 1:

So let's listen to Fox and their coverage. All right, let's see what Fox News, how they were speaking after the convention.

Speaker 8:

See including this gem from Joy Reid Watch.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's back this up a little bit. Let's back this up.

Speaker 9:

All the other people that spoke All right, hold on.

Speaker 10:

Let's go to this Like the tribute to Corey. The media is still criticizing the length of the former president's speech. Watch this came in over an hour and a half long. This was a Fidel Castro kind of experience.

Speaker 1:

She literally just said this is a Fidel Castro kind of experience. That's MSNBC, this is a Fidel Castro kind of experience. Over an hour and a half long, this was a Fidel Castro kind of experience. Isn't that amazing? So this is what you do you attach Trump's name to a tyrant, a dictator like Fidel Castro. That way you can attempt to grab him on your way into the muck again, into that quicksand yes, it's a and attach him to this. To attach him to this to the cuban dictator. That's exactly right. That's a very good analogy. My goodness, there's energy down here now. Listen to these guys here. But during that speech there definitely were some folks dozing off, a few lawmakers snuck out early, a few folks dozing off, a few lawmakers snuck out early, a few people dozing off and some lawmakers snuck out early. These guys are like literally clowns. It's a bizarre feeling. And this guy is the worst, this MSNBC douchebag here, the worst, one of the worst. I guess they're all.

Speaker 2:

And I'm not sure I'm able to fully articulate right now. You're not. They're painting it as a party?

Speaker 1:

yes, because it is, but it is a deeply divisive message uh-huh, deeply divisive, as he reached out and in unity and said he wants everyone and that a victory for half of the country is not a victory. But you're such an ass that you want to say crap like that.

Speaker 10:

that's not true, okay it was over 90 minutes long, breaking the record for longest nomination acceptance speech in the convention's history. Fox News contributor Joe Concha joins us now. Joe, does the media characterization of that speech that you just heard reflect reality in any way?

Speaker 9:

speech that you just heard reflect reality in any way. Well, being here in Milwaukee, being in that hall last night at the Pfizer forum, I can tell you that the energy was incredible. The optimism was off the charts as far as the entire week. Quite frankly, from all the attendees and all of the speakers, the message of unity certainly did resonate, and this was a happy warrior in Donald Trump and all the attendees and all of the speakers. The message of unity certainly did resonate, and this was a happy warrior in Donald Trump and all the other people that spoke during this convention. So you hear the reaction to this and it just does not reflect the sentiment that was on the ground, where you have now a former president who is the odds on favor to become the next president. I mean this could this could have been Ronald Reagan at the Berlin Wall or Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address. It wouldn't have mattered, it would have been criticized in some way, shape or form.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, and I was reading before. Cbs News has a headline Trump accepts GOP nomination with meandering RNC speech. Meandering is an opinion word and this is in a news article, not an opinion piece. A lot of opinion, though, was shared last night about the RNC, including this gem from Joy Reid Watch You've seen this kind of election before.

Speaker 4:

You see the same thing in Hungary. Like the Orbanism of the party is, it's rooted in returning white Christian men.

Speaker 1:

but also here we go with the race crap and you want to know why there's racism in this country? It's because of people like this.

Speaker 4:

Right away, white men, Right here, white Christian men right Christian men, but also white men, white adjacent men, you know black men, white adjacent men, brown men, white men and white adjacent men. You know black men, white adjacent, brown men, who are like white adjacent in, who are like white adjacent terms of trying to also be in that dominant position in society, in society. And then you have women who are willing to go along with that right. There are a certain number of women.

Speaker 4:

This woman is an absolute moron who are also willing, the trad wife sort of.

Speaker 1:

It says here critics say GOP weaponizes masculinity at RNC. You talk about pussies.

Speaker 8:

And I had to Google it. But trad wife means traditional wife, so thank you for the assist on that. A Google search engine. What did you think about this? The key word is white adjacent here.

Speaker 1:

Yes, of course, white adjacent. I'll be talking about this, the key word is white adjacent here.

Speaker 9:

Yes, of course White adjacent. I'll be talking about this on my show tonight. Another two words. I guess we have to Google Carly. Look, this is the same person, Joy Reid, Think about it.

Speaker 1:

Think about what they are saying. White adjacent White adjacent Joy Reid. Trump coalition is made up of white men, white adjacent black men. And what is it? Trade wife, women what is this? And Christian white Christians men, white Christian men. And you want to know who the racists are in this society?

Speaker 9:

If this doesn't demonstrate that perfectly, then I don't know what does, who has been screaming all week on that network and on social media that actually maybe Donald Trump wasn't shot. She even insinuated that this whole thing was staged as if you could hire a 20 year old kid to become come within a millimeter of the president's brain in order to get a photo op for 10 seconds. When he said fight, fight, fight when the Secret Service was carrying him off I mean, this is also the same network who accused Trump of wearing a bandage on a gaping wound lost part of his ear as a prop, to quote mind sympathy for political purposes?

Speaker 9:

Absolutely right.

Speaker 1:

Isn't that just despicable? It's despicable and I would debate anyone anytime, any day on my show who feels any differently? Absolutely Anyone.

Speaker 9:

Same network that pushes false conspiracy theory that maybe it was shattered glass from a teleprompter that hit Trump and not a bullet, even though multiple fact checks what Are you serious?

Speaker 1:

I hadn't heard that one Shattered glass from a teleprompter blew up the president's ears have come to the conclusion that that is absolutely false, because I wonder if the shattered glass from the teleprompter killed the patriot who was in the stands and injured those other people. I wonder if that's what happened. So did they blow a guy's head off on the roof a 20-year-old guy's head off because the glass in the teleprompter broke? Hmm, that's genius. The teleprompter broke that's, that's genius.

Speaker 9:

The teleprompters were perfectly intact, so we're in oh yeah there's that too, a completely alternative universe right now, as far as what we're hearing, particularly out of that network, over an assassination that happened in front of the world on national television, where you saw blood on the president's face, and you still have people like Joy Reid saying, yeah, I don't know. This whole thing seems like it was choreographed. There are no words. This person keeps failing upwards. They keep promoting her to higher positions for lying to her viewers, and management is either too petrified to do anything or they simply do not care.

Speaker 10:

It truly was a banner week of nonsense out of the mouth of Joy Reid. And let me just leave with this point. If you get shot on a Saturday, you can take all the time you want for your speech on the following Thank, you, thank you.

Speaker 1:

Let me tell you, I don't even watch Fox or CNN. If I was going to watch one of them, I would never watch CNN. I'll say this. I'm going to say this. I meant to say this on my show last night. It wasn't the time or the place, though, but here is. I watched more CNN, since the debate and since this assassination attempt, that I've ever watched CNN, except for back when CNN originally began, where it was supposed to be just a 24-hour news network, and that was it. Then I was out. Why do I watch CNN more? Well, I'll tell you why I also watch Fox Because I want to see the litany of comments, of reasons.

Speaker 1:

I want to see them grovel after what I feel was an orchestrated 34 felonies and so many other things, and I don't want to hear about January 6th anymore. You want to say well, was that orchestrated too? Listen, that's your entitled to your opinion. I'm speaking about my opinion. I'm sick and tired of the rhetoric from these liberal agencies, these liberal news medias. It's horse manure, and it is why Donald Trump is leading in the polls. It's not just that. Joe Biden right now seems like he's struggling, and I'm never going to make fun of a person due to his age. I don't have much of a problem making fun of Joe Biden sometimes, because Joe Biden can still be a smartass. We saw that in the first debate when he was calling Trump a loser. You know, orchestrating a lot of stuff with Pelosi and Schumer against Trump. So I don't feel bad, but I don't make fun of anyone's age. Age. You cannot help. I'll let these guys finish.

Speaker 1:

I agree that is the new rule You've earned it.

Speaker 10:

Thank you, I haven't Donald.

Speaker 1:

Trump did.

Speaker 10:

I have not been shot Did you take that as a compliment.

Speaker 1:

I guess they're done. I guess they're done. I'll be honest with you. I hate spewing politics, but right now we're in the midst of this. We are in the midst of it and I'm not going to allow people who speak like this. I can do my part. That's all I can do to speak against this trash. The other night on my show it was so fun I think I mentioned this even yesterday that we were doing that Lee Greenwood came out and sang God Bless the USA, and then I asked people on my radio show you know what should be the theme song for the DNC, for the Democratic National Convention coming up? Since then I've got a good request. Here's one from Vincent. I thought this was pretty good.

Speaker 7:

Good choice, Vincent.

Speaker 1:

Talking to.

Speaker 10:

Pelosi Perfect choice, here we go.

Speaker 7:

It's always t's, t's, t's flash you're happy when I'm on my knees. One day is fine and next it's black. So if you want me off your back, well, come on and let me know.

Speaker 10:

I got hairy legs. Should I stay or should I go?

Speaker 1:

Good one, vincent. Maybe this one this is a lost oldie. It probably maybe not modern enough to get into there. You know, get the crowd moving. Maybe this one might be good for the DNC, the current DNC with Pelosi and Schumer and everyone. Get everyone really into the mood.

Speaker 6:

And I'll tell you the reason why it has caused me so much suffering and my dearest friends to die. Well, I know you all are wondering, ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States what it has done to me. Joe by there. I am going to tell you that my husband has to be brought, no, brought on by hard work and low wages and never enough to eat Corn. Bob's a bad dude. Come on, man, cold and hungry, no joke with no shoes. Thank you very much.

Speaker 1:

Barbara Dane, I hate the capitalist system. Sing along if you know the words. Here we go.

Speaker 6:

My husband was a coal miner who worked hard.

Speaker 1:

Thank you, barbara. Hey, on the show tonight, ken and bad roommate stories. Please join me on the pat wall show. We'd certainly appreciate that. Why don't we get to this song of the day? We've got a 45 here on pat's peeps, number 117, 2017. I culled this from my rare 45 collection, as I always tell you, and this song right here, this is an oldie. Let's see. This is during.

Speaker 1:

This guy had a 33-year career, made an impact on popular music worldwide Songwriter, singer, performer, record producer and during the years, these years that he was doing this, in addition to his rock and roll anthem, which is this song, he was responsible for hit records, including maybe you know these Teenage Heaven Cinnamon, used under a pseudonym, derek. That's a whole other story that we need to talk about sometime. Mary in the morning, rock me, baby, I'm drinking Canada dry Anyhow. 1963, this song right here. With this song, this artist was recognized as a teen star. The main part of the song was sung, uncredited, by Ronnie Bright, who sang with the Cadillacs, the Valentines and, for 40 years, the Phase Two of the Coasters. By the way, in 1973, who bassist John Entwistle covered the song on his third solo album. Rigor Mortis Sets In.

Speaker 1:

This guy also wrote and produced records for a number of artists, including Gene Pitney. Terry Gibbs had a couple of big crossover hits, on and on and on. This one reached number 13 in Austria, number let's see here. Number 31 in Canada, 24 in the UK, Number 16 in the US. I'm looking at the record. It is it's on Cap Records, which is a black label. Pull it out of the record cover here. In really nice condition too. It's got a sticker on it. It says 1963, and let's see what else is on here. It was recorded, well, I guess, 63. All right, so yeah, the stick run is 1963. It doesn't really get much more than that. So anyhow, without further ado, let's play this, shall we? This is a song by Johnny Symbol, a song called Mr Bassman.

Speaker 8:

Mr Bassman, you've got that certain something, mr.

Speaker 2:

Bassman you've got that certain something.

Speaker 7:

Mr Bassman, you set that music thumping To you. It's easy. When you go one, two, three, you mean, yeah, mr Bassman, you're on all the songs With a. Hey, mr Bassman, you're the hidden king of rock and roll. Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, no, no.

Speaker 10:

Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.

Speaker 7:

Oh, it don't mean a thing when the lead is singing or when he goes hi-yi-yi, hi-yi-yi.

Speaker 1:

Hey, mr I don't own the rights to this. I'm educating the audience on the music, yeah.

Speaker 7:

I love that deep bass voice. Ah, yeah. One two, three, four.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's flip it over. Flipping it over. The other song is called let's see here what is this called? Sacred Lover's Vow. I don't know the song. Let's put it on and let's see what we get. Johnny Symbol. Sacred Lover's Vow B-Side Mr Bassman.

Speaker 7:

If you mean every word that you're saying now, then repeat after me this sacred lover's vow darling, I'll be faithful till.

Speaker 1:

My dad was freaky in my head songs when she said that I didn't expect her voice to come into my left side of my headphones.

Speaker 7:

I didn't expect her voice to come into my left side of my headphones.

Speaker 1:

I'll always love you like I do today. Is that coming through your speakers like that?

Speaker 7:
