Speaker 1:

Hey guys, welcome back to Life Unmastered. If you guys are new here, just a little recap on who we are and what our show is all about. I want to hear this. Yeah, you need a recap too. I need a recap, yeah.

Speaker 3:

I'm not sure.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, I am one of your hosts, shauna, and my lovely husband, mike, is joining me, as always, and on this podcast, we just discuss marriage and parenting and just everyday life and the chaos that it brings with it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think the goal was we really don't know what we're doing and there's no official manual for life, and so we figured we might as well embarrass ourselves and put all of our learn by doing stories out there and share it with you all.

Speaker 1:

Exactly so last week we had Halloween. Yep. And we got our first. Well, the first like full house sickness kind of went through the house, the stomach bug.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that season We've been doing our best to make it not happen and I feel like, no matter what we do, it's going to happen.

Speaker 1:

I know, I know I was. You know, I think I've talked about my vitamin regimen already. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3:

Like we've been trying to soup ourselves up and become superhuman. It's just not happening.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So we got the stomach bug started with Carter and she got sick. Fortunately she had no school for three days a week and was able to just be home. And then, sure enough, Jase got it, and then poor Carter got it again a second time.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I don't know what was going on there.

Speaker 1:

So she did tell it. So it was going around at the school. For sure there were multiple kids throwing up at the school.

Speaker 3:

It's always fun to hear.

Speaker 1:

And she touched it. Remember what do you mean? She like she. Yeah, she saw it on the floor. I thought I told you this.

Speaker 3:

I don't think you did yeah.

Speaker 1:

She actually touched it and Mrs Hessling was like Carter, no. And Mrs Hessling told me she's like. I think I freaked Carter out because I like panicked.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

But they instantly washed her hand. So I don't know if that's what it's from, why would she touch it? The same reason that Jase was lying down on the bathroom floor. Kids are just gross.

Speaker 3:

They're so gross. You know what's funny? It's not like we're dropping them off at school, Like oh yeah, it's like first week of school, life is good. Like have a good day, honey. Make sure and listen to the teacher Lay on the bathroom floor. Like you don't, you don't mention that one.

Speaker 1:

You don't think that you have to, yep. So kids are gross and so I, I mean I keep telling the kids like stop doing this gross stuff, because it's not fun being sick, right, and they just it's like they can't help themselves, it's like they're just drawn to the, to the grossness.

Speaker 3:

I will be a little honest here.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

Carter being sick kind of helped me out, because I got to avoid a trunk or treat because of it.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that it seriously.

Speaker 3:

it broke my heart, it was terrible for her, but I got to stay home.

Speaker 1:

You did, and we know how much you love to get out of those things, but so they were. You know she was finally feeling better and I thought she was going to be able to go and then, like at the last second, she started getting sick again and I was so distracted by her tears and she was just so devastated to not be able to go that I like ran out of the house with Jace and this teeny tiny little jacket for him, and it was like it got to like what 23 degrees and I had a long sleeve shirt on. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

I kept trying to warn you that it was going to get cold.

Speaker 1:

I didn't not believe you that it was cold. I was just distracted and did not even think to bring myself a jacket. It went from like 70 degrees to 23 degrees in like a day.

Speaker 3:

It's like typical Colorado, though, because, like, leading up to that, I feel like the high was like 60, 60, 60. Then we had like three days of like the highest 20, which, by the way, went into Halloween, and then, like immediately the day after Halloween, it was like now it's 65.

Speaker 1:

Yeah yeah, the weather here is always so weird. We've talked about that, it's just.

Speaker 3:

I can't stand it. It's like if there's a holiday or something coming up and you want to be outside, guess what, it's going to be freezing or hail storm or thunderstorm, it's just it always falls on those days.

Speaker 1:

Yep, and so we got our very first snow day already in the end of October before. Halloween.

Speaker 3:

But that was even that because, like I remember you pointing out like hey, it's snowing, and I look out the window and saw like the little flakes and stuff and I was like, yeah right, None of that's going to stick. We wake up the next morning completely covered inches of snow, everything. I was just like whoa.

Speaker 1:

To the point where that the kids were out there for a really long time. Yeah. And they were playing, playing, playing. And King, I mean he, he would have stayed out there if we didn't make him come in.

Speaker 3:

I've never seen that dog sleep so much. He was so tired, he tuckered himself out. He just throws his ball in the snow and then, like, uses his nose to push it through the snow throughout the entire yard.

Speaker 1:

He loves the snow just as much as the kids do. So, as much as I'm sad that the snow is here, because I could really do without it the kids and the dog Well, yeah. King.

Speaker 3:

I mean it's cheap entertainment. There you go and like we're comfortable just opening the slider and being like have at it kids. Like I check on them like every like 20 minutes because it was what the high that day, like we said, was like 23 or something. I'm like. I don't know if they should be out there that long in this.

Speaker 1:

But I every year we put this will be like our fifth, sixth winter here, something like that, and I still feel like every year we're still unprepared for winter.

Speaker 3:

I don't think unprepared. I mean it's unpredictable. You know, by the time Halloween rolls around it's gonna be cold.

Speaker 1:

What I mean is that the kids are out growing jackets. They're out growing snow pants and snow boots. We need gloves, we need beanies. Well like that's what I'm saying, like it comes and it's like oh yeah, we need this stuff.

Speaker 3:

I mean it's unprepared Like we prepared, Like we just we accepted the fact that we didn't have those things and I wasn't gonna spend the money on it. Like that was the preparation. It was like we're gonna be really upset in a couple months.

Speaker 1:

What I mean is that we are like trunker treating and Jason gets in the car and goes mom, I need gloves.

Speaker 3:

Well, yeah, I mean that's you ran out. We have jackets. You ran out the house without them. That's not my fault.

Speaker 1:

All I'm saying is I just I don't feel like I'm ever prepared for winter.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it does kind of sneak up on you. It is quick. Like I can remember being excited that the grass was growing. It seems like just a couple of weeks ago and now it's like that grass is dead.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's gone. So, moving on from depressing winter talk to more depressing yeah, there's been a lot of stuff going on.

Speaker 1:

There has been. I mean, the news to me is always depressing and I only pay attention to what I absolutely need to, and usually that's through. You Like it. Just like give me the cliff notes, because I'll just get like way too caught up in it and spiral, yeah. But you know, we all know what's going on, the big things, things that we don't want to get into. But in addition to that, there are some other sad things that happen, like Matthew Perry died.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I was really surprised by that.

Speaker 1:

So like we're in the middle of watching a King's game and you like, looked over and you're like oh, Matthew Perry died.

Speaker 3:

Well, I'm not a news guy or like a celebrity guy that like follows up on anything like that, but like I just saw it on a YouTube feed and like so instantly whenever I see that I have to like go actually check it out to see if it's real, because I assume it's fake and I was like oh no, he, yeah, he really died.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so that's sad, that is very sad. It's, it's weird to feel the loss of a celebrity because we have no connection to them, yet we feel connected to them.

Speaker 3:

I think for me I would for Matthew Perry. The reason it's like it feels weird to me would be like I remember watching Friends when I was younger and then watching like a lot of the reruns when I was younger. But like TV isn't like a normal part of our life anymore.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 3:

So it's weird because when I remember him, I remember him from like those episodes. I don't remember what he looked like for the last 20 years.

Speaker 1:

Right, which is interesting because I have watched a few like the life of Matthew Perry videos. And to see what he looks like now. That's just like when I like that's not who I remember.

Speaker 3:

That's not who I remember.

Speaker 1:

When I think of him, I think of Chandler Bain.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you think of. You think of those episodes and like I forgot that. Oh yeah, he's aged for what? 20 years, whatever it's been like alongside me. And then I think about like oh, what do I look like compared to?

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

So I just, I mean, I don't think that we're quite there yet, but I mean, the only person you see from those shows anymore is like Jennifer Aniston, who doesn't look a day older and like, and she's so true. Maybe that's why she's standing next to Adam Sandler. It makes her look so much better. Maybe she keeps doing those movies? Yeah, because you have to wonder like, why is she doing those movies?

Speaker 1:

I mean, adam Sandler has some very. I mean he's got some really weird movies, but he's got some successful movies too. You just go with it.

Speaker 3:

Correct. But again, that's an old movie Like I think you'd be shocked to look up and see when that movie was made. Probably yeah.

Speaker 1:

But anyways, one of our favorites. We watch it all the time. That's a good background noise movie it is so. Another thing is I just learned of the name Adam Johnson this week. Yeah. He is a former NHL hockey player that is now what was now playing in a league in England and he died on the ice on live TV in the middle of an arena full of fans. Yeah, from what they're calling a freak accident, which he took a skate to the throat and bled out, yeah, real, real tragic thing.

Speaker 3:

I read the story or knew that it happened. That isn't one of the stories that I would instantly think to tell you about, because stuff like that, especially in like a league that I don't know, but yeah, it's terrible.

Speaker 1:

I was FaceTiming with my mom and she's the one who told me and sent me a link, and I just cannot get it out of my head.

Speaker 3:

Which, by the way, I'm a little shocked that you didn't get a little warning about what you were going to be watching with that link.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean, yeah, it was very. She actually didn't see the graphic-ness of it.

Speaker 3:

Oh, okay, didn't realize it. Yeah, it was more, just sending you the new story, didn't realize it was there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, until I watched it and I was like, oh my gosh, mom, can you see what's happening? So she didn't even realize how graphic it was. And, yeah, it's really stuck with me and I just think about it all day and I think I'm just like so sad for him because he was doing something that he loved and he was passionate about, and I'm just so sad for the stadium full of fans that had to watch that and for his girlfriend that was there and his family. It's just like so tragic, and I know that people die all the time.

Speaker 3:

Well, you don't wanna dismiss it, but no.

Speaker 1:

I'm just like, for some reason, something about this is just like. Like I said, I never even heard of him Until after he was already gone. But it's just like, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

it's like sticking with me, it's really interesting to me because you have this emotional connection with this person who you didn't even know existed I mean, like you personally.

Speaker 3:

it says Because obviously we live in a world with a lot of tragedy. We hear about shootings all the time and everything else that's going on in the world, but at least like two or three times over the last week since you found out this happened you've asked me about, like Adam Johnson, have you heard anything? Or what's the NHL doing, or has anybody talked about that? And it's really thrown me off and I don't know if that says more about like us as a society or what. That like bad news happens all the time and we just shake it off. That I'm actually like surprised you're bringing this up again. Like what? And it's not a bad thing. I think it's like good that we actually acknowledge that like hey, this is a tragedy. Somebody, a real person this affected multiple people lives obviously his So-.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think. I mean I honestly don't know why. I think obviously we have a connection to hockey and I would say, especially this year, the kids are really into it. You know, carter was sick in the nurses office last week and I go to pick her up and she's like the nurse was telling me. She's like, yeah, she was telling me all about the LA Kings and Kevin Fiala.

Speaker 3:

Of course she was.

Speaker 1:

And so like they're really starting to love it as much as you and I do and it's been a big part of our relationship and so I don't know, maybe if that's it because it's like this thing that connects us, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

It is a weird freak accident type thing and whether don't want to get into the legality of everything that happened, but it's not something that I think about happening, like when I thought about like Jace playing football or something that was like concussions or like all sorts of injuries I know I'm well informed of like what can happen there Even though I know those are very sharp skates and this is happening and like players go down when everybody's like scrambling for the puck. Never have I thought of that.

Speaker 1:

Well, I mean, I did read that this has never happened before, and they say the chances of it ever happening again are slim to none.

Speaker 3:

And I also read that the English league that he played in has already passed a rule that some type of neck guard will have to be worn by the players going forward for 2024. And the NHL is already looking into it too.

Speaker 1:

Well, the women's hockey league has already. They have to wear them starting January one, and I did read that the NHL is looking into it too, but they're not sure. And then, yeah again, it really it truly was a freak accident. They're investigating it on you know, whether the player, the other player, did it on purpose, which my personal opinion is that he did kick his leg up on purpose but I don't think his intent was to kill a you know another player. Regardless of the situation surrounding it, it's just tragic.

Speaker 3:

It is.

Speaker 1:

It's just.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, my heart breaks for that family, for his girlfriend, his mom and dad, everybody, just yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So anyway, I'm just I'm keeping up on that and kind of seeing where it goes, just cause I feel like, yeah, just one of those things that stick with me. But in other, I don't know if we're gonna call this. It's not sad news, it's just news. It's a little lighter.

Speaker 3:

It's a suspense, I mean. I think it's good news.

Speaker 1:

Okay so.

Speaker 3:

Cause I just found out about it.

Speaker 1:

Yes, when I told you about it. Yeah, so the chiefs were on a six game winning streak, but then the NFL heard about my theory. Oh, probably that has to be. Yeah, I mean, you're like a big deal.

Speaker 3:

I got my finger on the pulse.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you do.

Speaker 3:

Of pop culture.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, they were on a six game win streak. It is now over, because they lost to the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 3:

Which is hilarious.

Speaker 1:

Because the Denver Broncos are not good.

Speaker 3:

They are not good.

Speaker 1:

But I thought this was worth mentioning. We're not big football fans, but we did talk about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey a few weeks ago and they lost to our home team.

Speaker 3:

I mean, I live in Colorado, but I will not call the Denver Broncos my home team.

Speaker 1:

I mean, they are the team of our home state.

Speaker 3:

That doesn't matter.

Speaker 1:

Okay, anyways, but why I feel like I needed to mention this to you is because I feel like you'll appreciate the savageness of the Denver Broncos. Oh. So after they won, they played Taylor Swift shake it off. In the stands In the stadium as the chiefs around the field like giving their post game interviews and like sulking after like ending their shake. I'm like that is both hilarious and savage.

Speaker 3:

That is okay, I can appreciate that.

Speaker 1:

You appreciate a good dig.

Speaker 3:

What's funny is I didn't know why this was popping up, but again, like I'll be honest, let's be real, the majority of my news comes from YouTube at this point, and so apparently there's a meme going around where the quarterback of the Broncos, Russell Wilson, they like list his stats and stuff, and then the quarterback of the chiefs, Patrick Mahomes they list his stats.

Speaker 3:

And even though the Broncos are terrible and I don't know if any of these stats are real, I'm just telling you what the meme is. But even though the Broncos are terrible and everybody is bagging on Russell Wilson and everybody hates him and says he's washed up, fat over the hill, shouldn't be on a team oh my gosh, you gotta get rid of them In every category, except for team defense, meaning the defense that you know the side of the ball he doesn't play on he's blowing Mahomes out of the water. Now, if you ask about Mahomes any sports ride or anybody MVP, best quarterback in the league he's the man. But all of his stats are worse than Russell Wilson's according to this meme. Somebody can look it up and find out if it's true or not. I'm just saying maybe if he was on a better team, people would still like.

Speaker 1:

Maybe that's all very fascinating.

Speaker 3:

Somebody out there cares, okay. I'm tired of people in the media just deciding what's good and what's not and then building a story around it to back up their own theory.

Speaker 1:

All right, calm down crazy only certain people are allowed to do that but also we're getting real worked up over something we don't know if it's actually true or not. I mean, it's on a meme. Yeah, yeah, must be true. It has to be if it's on the internet.

Speaker 3:

No, not anything on the internet is true, but if it's in meme form, it's gotta be true.

Speaker 1:

You're such a weirdo anyway. So that's kind of like our news update Segment. That's all I got, unless you have anything else you want to add?

Speaker 3:

no, I think our stories were tragic enough. We don't need to go into everything else that's going on. Yeah, okay, I'm good.

Speaker 1:

So I thought it would be fun to do a little bit of a Q&A. So I put a question box on my Instagram To see if anybody had any questions for us. So I thought that we could go through a few of those tonight. What do you think?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, let's do it Okay. So first thing's first always down to tell people more about me. Nobody loves Mike more than Mike and I am good at talking about myself.

Speaker 1:

Alright, so the first person wants to know why you have no hair genetics.

Speaker 3:

Although they're fine. Since you already put me on blast there, I remember, like the one family reunion I went to, I stood next to like my uncle, my dad, and then like their uncles, and the only person in the picture with hair mind you, I had to have been like oh, 18 at the time was my dad. I'm like what? Why didn't I he?

Speaker 1:

still has hair, yeah, and has to yeah, but the entire rest of my family all bald q-balls.

Speaker 3:

Nothing I'm like. What are you doing?

Speaker 1:

What vitamins are you taking? Yeah, that is too funny. Jase isn't like in a serious need of a haircut.

Speaker 3:

Oh, that boy has sick flow.

Speaker 1:

He's hot and I feel like you're always like, don't cut it, just let him enjoy it while he has it.

Speaker 3:

Well, he came home yesterday from school and he'd like the front of his hair, because you do that little wave thing in front, but it was like twice as high as normal and all the way pushed back. I'm like jase, what happened? He was like I was running fast at recess.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he, he looked like he had this little like afro.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that was kind of funny, that was awesome.

Speaker 1:

Okay, now the real question. The first question is do you guys want to have more kids?

Speaker 3:

Okay, so that I think I felt like, okay, let's, we got break this question down. First of all, we kind of already answered this yeah, we have talked about this before. There's a difference between one of I'm gonna be quiet now.

Speaker 1:

This is getting you really flustered. Why is this getting?

Speaker 3:

so flustered. The way the question is worded I don't like. I feel like it's entrapment Do oh. Because it says do you want more?

Speaker 1:

I do well. Do you want more kids?

Speaker 3:

I do not.

Speaker 1:

I do so. So I think that, if it's interesting, because my mom adopted my youngest brother but I never thought that I had it in me to adopt, I just didn't think that, like that's how I was, I get that, you know, um, and I I I don't know if that is still something that I could do or not, but I feel like I could do another kid. If I didn't Do another kid, I could have another child. If I didn't have to go through the pregnancy, the labor, delivery, all the hormones and recovery and all that, if I could just, you know, have the baby. Also, if the baby would just stay a newborn, I'd be sold if you got a forever baby, we have another one.

Speaker 1:

It's like the best stage ever and I just want to keep them there and it goes by the fastest. So anyways, all of that to say I would. I would happily have another baby, even with all the other stuff. Michael has been done since the minute Carter came came into this world as soon as he was conceived. That's not true.

Speaker 3:

It is. You told me we had her and I was like that's it.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, oh, here we go.

Speaker 3:

We're gonna talk about this later.

Speaker 1:

No, we're done. I told I he's just at this point, you're just waiting me out because I told you I don't want to have kids.

Speaker 3:

Timers on my side, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Um, but I feel like I've always said this With everything major in our life, God has put us on the same page, Everything. There have been things that you and I have been on opposite ends of the spectrum and we always end up in the same place, and I know that that's God working in both of us to make sure that where we're supposed to be. This has been the one and only thing that I feel like we haven't gotten fully to that place where we're on the same page, and it's something that I've always. You know that I continue to pray about like either change his heart or change mine, but I know he's gonna do it and I feel like it's just been one of those things that has been required. Like has required time, because the longer we go, the more I see the side that you're coming from, Like me having a lot coming from a large family, divided but large, so many brothers.

Speaker 1:

It really does limit family vacations, Christmases, rooms, stuff like that, and so I remember that being something that you had talked about is like right now, the kids that each get their own rooms. We can go on the family vacations, we can do the big Christmases. You know it's not gonna keep us from doing certain things, because we've gotta pay for five kids instead of two.

Speaker 3:

Well, I don't think the decision is only money-based either. For me it's a lot more like being able to pay attention to kids and like how involved each kid is, and, like I find it, we already know we make the mistake of splitting off between like Jason Carter and like for bedtimes and stuff like that. Like I just I can't see us throwing a third one in the mix. Like I can't.

Speaker 1:

I'm not saying it was all financial, I'm just saying I think that's because of no, but all the examples you gave. Well, correct, that's just kind of like where I was starting, and I think part of that, too is because of you know the steps that we're taking currently in our life. But I think I wonder, if we did have a third one, if it would force us to stop doing what we're doing with the. You take one, I take one, but I there's only two of us.

Speaker 3:

It's not like there's a third parent that's gonna come along.

Speaker 1:

I know, but I think that too. I think my biggest thing is I would just love, now that the kids are both older, to see them as an older brother and older sister.

Speaker 3:

See, I don't know. I know like I have this problem of underselling our children or like thinking less of how okay, less of them, but like Just keep digging. Yeah, but I'm serious, like I see how they act when they get a new toy, or how they acted when they got a new puppy, or like all these things. Like kids are kids, like they can only help so much, they're only gonna do so much. I honestly-.

Speaker 1:

I'm not looking for them to raise the kid.

Speaker 3:

Correct, but for me I see too much of that. Oh, this is something new and shiny. And then like, and I'm bored.

Speaker 1:

And Carter loves King. But anyway, all of that to say whether we-.

Speaker 1:

The question is wrong, whether either of us want more kids or not, unless God performs some sort of miracle, we are not having more kids, correct? So, kind of on the same track, did you guys do gender reveals for your kids? We're about to find out the gender of our first and we need ideas. We did do a gender reveal for Jace, so we'll have to find the video of this and post it, but I had told Mike that I wanted a big box to do like, where you pull the lid off and the balloons come out, which worked out great because where I work is, or worked, I worked in a warehouse.

Speaker 3:

I still work for the same company, just not in the warehouse, but they have giant boxes.

Speaker 1:

So I said I wanted a big box. I did not know Mike was going to take this so Extreme that box filled up the bed of my truck it was massive.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

It took me, like six rolls of toilet or toilet paper, six rolls Wrapping paper to wrap the box in the lid. Yep. And it was a project. It took two of us, like it was massive. It sat on like two pallets Yep, it was so big, is so awesome, and I think she ended up having to get like four dozen balloons to fill up the box. It was so big. But anyways, that's how we did our gender reveal, for Jace filled it up with the blue balloons. We did not know the gender we did not.

Speaker 3:

But what was awesome about that was we had to transport the box from our Condo to your dad's house to do the reveal at the party. And I have never heard like. That was the first time I've heard you freak out like that. I've heard it since, but that was like I was like what is going on, where you were full on Screaming at me to pull the truck over, grabbing my arm because you thought and I'm not saying you're wrong but you saw that the lid was possibly coming up and the balloons were gonna fly out and ruin our gender reveal.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I was. I was a little crazy. I'm gonna go ahead and blame those hormones. Those are convenient but yeah, I mean in all honesty, I would have done that, like today.

Speaker 1:

Yeah but I, we had waited so long to finally find because we had the gender was sitting in an envelope. We had to, like, wait for the party and we, you know, went through all the steps and it was like this big surprise. And then we get it in the car. It's strapped down, kinda, and I see the box like one of the edges. Yeah, the wind is just getting right under it, and so, yeah, I'm panicking because I don't want to have waited through all of this Just to have it ruined on the. It's not even a mile to my dad's house, right?

Speaker 1:

Yeah or maybe it is. I Would have been devastated. We would have ended up on one of those, like you know, gender reveal fail videos yeah. I just I tell how I was so nervous when I was we finally got there and I was just like Phew, I think we did some like MacGyver. You did some like weird, I don't know, you got to stay.

Speaker 3:

I use straps. I think we tried to get away without using straps before, and then I like strapped it down in multiple places.

Speaker 1:

We stopped like two or three times in the short trip there but, yeah it did work out well for Carter we what?

Speaker 3:

I don't know, I remember taking like photos, but like we knew, so for Carter we did the same thing.

Speaker 1:

We have the. The Technician put it in an envelope for us and we were debating like what we do. Everything was so different with Carter. We didn't even tell anybody that we are pregnant with Carter, like make the announcement how it's already 20 weeks halfway through the pregnancy and we told our friends and family before that. But we had her put an envelope and then we were super into wrestling at that time, remember. So I was like if it's a boy, will play the John Cena music and if it was a girl, we're gonna play a Alexa bliss. I think that's okay Was that it remember that.

Speaker 1:

So we played John Cena because it said it was a boy. Oh yeah, the envelope, so it was a boy. And then, after we opened it, we called all of our family, facetime them and told them that's right very low key. That wasn't really a gender reveal. Mm-hmm and then we went to our 20 week anatomy scan and Found out that Carter was a girl, and we then called everybody to tell them. So when I was calling them, they all assumed it was twins.

Speaker 3:

It makes sense now, but really it was just, it was a girl and then my play John Cena's music. Just couldn't see her. Then Michael spent the last 20 weeks panic that she's already talked about this, I don't need to bring it up again, okay it's funny to me every time. I don't know why this is a serious situation. Had one with a giant head and one something that fell off.

Speaker 1:

I Think we just had a new tech. That wasn't quite sure she was looking for that darn and bilka court. It's confusing, okay. One is do you decorate before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving, assuming Christmas we haven't decided we had. We talked about that today. I go back and forth.

Speaker 3:

Sometimes I do before, sometimes do it after Basically depends on how bored you are and how much time you have on a weekend.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, basically, although everyone's really going for it this year, so I'm thinking that I'm gonna decorate this weekend. Um, let's just do one more. So this one is I. I'm excited about this one. I saw that you were reading fourth wing. Did you finish it and would you recommend it? So I posted on my stories a week or two ago that I was reading fourth wing. Fourth wing is a book about dragons and a bunch of other stuff. It's I'm terrible, terrible at describing anything. A movie a book.

Speaker 3:

Well, and you know, if this is as popular as it is, you don't want to describe it too much.

Speaker 1:

Right, but it's very outside of my normal genre.

Speaker 3:

I feel like you keep saying that, but like the more you describe it to me, I don't think it is.

Speaker 1:

It is my typical like book that I would read would be like there's like a meet cute and then they fall in love and then like something tragic happened.

Speaker 3:

What was that word? You just? Used A meet cute A meet cute. What does that mean?

Speaker 1:

There's like a cute way that they meet. They like meet in an elevator, or he like, she like falls into him and like coffee.

Speaker 3:

It's called a meet cute. Yeah, what is wrong with this world? And it's like you didn't even describe people you described. You said the average book that I would read and then you described an instance. That's just how they are Like that's it.

Speaker 1:

They're just like you know they're guaranteed happy ending.

Speaker 3:

I'm going to go on a rant. That's what's happening here. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in like I refuse to just accept this as like, yeah, this is totally okay, and it's happening more and more and more. It happens with TV, happens with movies, happens with books. What are you talking about? What we live in essentially is like people are just changing the font. Like you have a basic story and then they change the font you just described like all the books that you like reading based on like one instance, and then you just change the colors and it's like, oh, but now they're hockey players, but now it's a football player. Like, yes, that is driving me crazy.

Speaker 1:

Can't anybody make anything new? No, but that's exactly so. As I was telling you is that that is the typical book that I read. It's just the setting is different, the age is different, the names are different, whatever it's this in this book they played hockey. In the next book, they paid basketball.

Speaker 3:

And you're telling me this fourth wing book is not different.

Speaker 1:

No, the fourth wing week book is very different.

Speaker 3:

I don't think it is. I think you've convinced yourself. It's different. No, I haven't.

Speaker 1:

It's not a sports team.

Speaker 3:

And this time it's like dragon riders.

Speaker 1:

No, I mean they are dragon riders, but no, just stop it. You don't, you haven't read it, you don't get a say in it.

Speaker 3:

I can tell you how this book ends right now, but I won't ruin it for everybody else.

Speaker 1:

You're so full of crap.

Speaker 3:

You give me like an 80% chance. You cannot you can't.

Speaker 1:

Okay. First of all, you're just lucky that I've already read the ending of it, because I would have killed you, because Michael loves nothing more than to ruin a good book or movie for me by just like looking at the cover of it or like watching the first five minutes of the movie and be like this is what happens, so it ends, and then, like I have to get to the end, to be like who's fricking right?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, because it's all the same story, just with different font.

Speaker 1:

However, we did watch a movie the other night. No, I'm just saying.

Speaker 3:

No, no more movies.

Speaker 1:

I'm not doing it, Listen. I watched it the other night and I got it right, didn't I?

Speaker 3:

You did.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so anyways, back to fourth wing.

Speaker 3:

There's only like five minutes left in the movie, but you got it right. That's not true. Yeah, it was like you woke us up to be like this is how it's gonna end.

Speaker 1:

You're so fresh, it's not true, won't even give me credit when I do a good job and figure it out. It doesn't happen very often. Just let me have it. Anyway. Fourth wing it's very different than the normal books that I read. The normal books that I read we just kind of went over them. They all are the same, but they make me feel good, like I get to the end of the night and I just want something that I don't really have to think about, but I was kind of getting bored with them. I was getting bored with them. It's like the same thing over and over again. So trying to breach, like branch out, and this book, fourth wing, was highly recommended by everybody so I picked it up. So good, the world building is great to where I understand the world, but it's not like overbearing towards, like I'm so bored out of my mind. She's just describing the mountains and all this.

Speaker 3:

It's not a giant history lesson.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was so good. It was action packed. There was something. I mean, from the very like first few pages there was something big happening and it was just like. I loved it and I will recommend it to everybody. I really liked it. I finished it. It ended on like such a great cliffhanger. I instantly ordered the second book, which comes out tomorrow. I'm just like so excited. So, yes, I finished it. Yes, I would recommend it. Go read it. I loved it and now I'm reading a court of thorns and roses that series it's like five book series by Sarah J Mas, Also in the like fantasy-ish world, and I think I've got a new genre.

Speaker 3:

Good for you, baby.

Speaker 1:

You're such a hater what? Are you still reading Like Lord of the Rings for like the last 12 months.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but I've read it before.

Speaker 1:

I'm just saying.

Speaker 3:

I'm not a big reader.

Speaker 1:

But I'm just that you're still reading the same exact thing, just the same book, over and over again. What's the difference?

Speaker 3:

Not over and over. I mean it's how many times have you read Lord of the Rings? It's still be my third time through. But there is a difference, because that's like a story that's really good, that I want to relive. It's not like, hey, let's put a different color of paint on this story and reread it. If I wanted to do that, I would just go read Harry Potter.

Speaker 1:

I would love to read a book for the first time, but I can't. I've tried rereading a book and it's like I know how it ends and so I can't reread it, which is weird because you only read books that end the exact same way. I know, but the story is still different enough that I can-.

Speaker 3:

I know that book was about Tom. This book is about Jerry.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, I think this is a good place for us to end, because we're just getting laugh happy, that's not a word. Laugh happy, happy, laughy.

Speaker 3:

Now we-.
