Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions that you can experience. It connects you to what is truly important in your life. It reminds you that, as long as you're breathing, everything is going to be okay, and it helps frame your day, your expectations and your actions. Embracing gratitude can be as simple as saying thank you. Here are the top 10 ways you can invite more gratitude into your life.

Behnaz:

Number one give and accept compliments. Giving compliments is enjoyable. It can be fun to see someone's face light up when you tell them you admire their hard work or that the project you've been working on is top quality, but it's not always so easy to accept compliments. When someone pays you a compliment, absorb it and say thank you. Don't negate a compliment with self-disapproving comments. Honor their gesture with genuine thanks. The same is true when you give compliments. Give them from the heart and without any intention other than to recognize someone's skills, effort or talents.

Behnaz:

Number two forgive yourself or someone else. This is powerful. It releases anger, hurt and frustration from you and makes room for positive emotions like gratitude. If you find that you are still hurting or upset from something that someone else did to you, spend some time thinking about how that anger and hurt is actually hurting you. Forgive them, say the words aloud and if you're angry with yourself about something, release it. You did your best at the time. Grow from the experience and move forward in gratitude.

Behnaz:

Number three do something nice for a stranger. Gratitude is an emotion that resonates deep inside you. It makes you feel good, hopeful and connected to others. There are many ways to express gratitude To embrace it and feel it on a regular basis. Take actions that reinforce the emotion. Every day you have an opportunity to experience gratitude. But doing something nice for strangers. Hold the door for someone. Offer help. When you see someone struggling, offer a friendly smile or, if you're feeling truly generous, pay it forward and buy the coffee for the person in line behind you. Making this type of behavior part of your everyday changes how you interact and engage with the world. It makes you feel more grateful for your life. Number four reconnect with loved ones. Reconnecting with friends and family reminds you about the wonderful people that you have in your life. Pick up the phone and reach out to someone. They will be delighted to hear from you and you will feel great about the relationship.

Behnaz:

5. Wear no complaints bracelets. Complaining is the opposite of gratitude. Like gratitude, complaining can easily become a habit. You can break the habit by wearing a bracelet. The goal is to wear the bracelet on your wrist for 30 days, but if you complain, you have to move it to your other wrist and start over. You might be surprised how difficult it can be to keep complaints to yourself for 30 whole days. By the end of the challenge, your mindset will be changed. You will be more grateful and able to focus on what is good in your life.

Behnaz:

6. Say thank you. It's so simple and yet we forget to say these two words. Say thank you when you receive a kindness from others. The person you are thanking will feel appreciated. You will feel good about yourself and them. Consistently expressing gratitude helps you to build better relationships and connections. You can also express gratitude when you receive a service by leaving a nice tip.

Behnaz:

7. Do something you love. It's easier to feel grateful when you have joy in your life and, of course, some days, weeks ok, some years are more difficult than others. However, there is time to find joy in each day. For example, listen to your favorite song and dance or sing along at the top of your voice. Pet a puppy, go for a walk and enjoy nature. Even in the city, you can see birds playing in the trees If you have more than a few minutes, take a class or find a new hobby or pick an old hobby that makes you smile. 7. Send handwritten thank you notes. Email is awesome, but there is something extra special about sending and receiving a handwritten note. Write pretty stationery and note cards and get into habit of writing people you love Hand. Parents and grandparents really like this and it helps you stay connected and if you don't already say thank you for gifts and kind thoughts and efforts with a handwritten thank you note.

Behnaz:

9. Donate something of value your time, money and or things. If you have some extra time or little extra money, give to a charity or cause that is important to you, and when you clean out your closets or find that you have some extra material goods around the home, consider donating them. Gratitude is often enhanced and more readily embraced when you give to others. It serves as a reminder about all that you have.

Behnaz:

10. Start a gratitude journal. Gratitude journals became popular about 10 years ago. Oprah talked about how powerful gratitude was for her, and people took notes. A gratitude journal is a daily practice where you write down a number of things that you're grateful for every day. You can make it part of your daily routine by writing in your journal first thing in the morning as you look at your day, or last thing at night. There are mobile apps for gratitude journaling, or you can buy a journal. A simple college rule notebook works too. It doesn't have to be fancy. Let's talk a little more about the reasons why you should keep a gratitude journal. Spending just 15 minutes a day writing in your gratitude journal can do amazing things in your life. Scientific rules have proven that showing gratitude on a consistent basis makes people happier and healthier.

Behnaz:

One of the best ways to get into the habit of cultivating gratitude is by keeping a journal. Here's a short list of how a gratitude journal can change your life for the better. Number one achievement A gratitude journal will help you know those simple things you achieve. You'll also be aware of both big and little things in life that you have to be thankful for by recording in your journal. Number two happiness. A gratitude journal keeps you happy because it keeps you focused on the good things that exist in your daily life. Once you start a gratitude journal, you are on the lookout for good things, both big and small. Imagine what your life would be like if you focused on the positive instead of negative. Number three good health. Disease is actually this ease and is negative energy that has been stored up from your negative beliefs and memories. You can quickly counteract this ease by concentrating on the good in your life over the bad. Number four earned more respect. Keeping a gratitude journal gives you the chance to understand the value of life. It makes you approach things in a more organized way, thereby improving your level of respect and confidence among friends and colleagues.

Behnaz:

5. Relationships Keeping a gratitude journal improves your relationships with people around you, because you look for things about others to appreciate. It's easy to find faults, but once you start showing appreciation for the people in your life, your relationships will grow. 6. Enhanced sleeping People who keep gratitude journals tend to sleep better because they often reflect on their day before bed, which gives them a sense of calmness.

Behnaz:

7. Less stress Whether you live in a stressful situation or just thinking back to one, your body doesn't know the difference. It will still fire off all those stress hormones and create the same physical, mental and emotional tension, whether or not the event is currently happening. By focusing on the positive, you avoid stress reaction. 8. Resiliency you can think of gratitude as being a mental and emotional muscle that you can build with daily exercise. If stuff goes wrong in life and your gratitude muscle is weak, you will struggle to find a silver lining in those storm clouds. But if you already have an excellent daily gratitude habit, then your gratitude muscle will be resilient and well-trained, meaning life challenges don't knock you off course as much.

Behnaz:

Now let's see how you can get the most out of gratitude journaling. If you have recently started gratitude journaling, you might be wondering if you are getting the full benefits from your daily ritual, and this is something which you must decide for yourself, but there are several things you can do to get the most out of your journaling. These are some simple ways to receive the maximum benefits from your journaling practice. 1. Try different formats. When most people think of journaling, they think of writing letters to themselves or simply writing sentences about their feelings. But this isn't the only format you can journal in, and the truth is it may not be the most effective for you. Consider changing up your journaling format or, better yet, employing more than one format in your journaling. This will make sure you are getting the most out of your journaling time.

Behnaz:

2. Write yourself compliments. In gratitude journaling, people tend to write about all the things or people they are grateful for in their lives, and there is nothing wrong with this. Just make sure you don't forget to be thankful for the most important person yourself. It's best practice to write a few things you like about yourself each day as you journal. This way, you can reflect on how your day went on and watch your transformation as you become a better version of yourself.

Behnaz:

3. Don't forget the lessons. No one's life is perfect, and when gratitude journaling. You may find that sometimes you have days where you make significant mistakes that you are embarrassed by, and this is okay and even something you should be thankful for. Instead of approaching your mistakes as setbacks, include them in your gratitude journaling as lessons and approach them with an open mind and be grateful for the lesson you have had the opportunity to learn. This will help keep you from making the same mistakes again, wherever you may be in your gratitude journaling journey. You are most certainly benefiting from the practice, but if you want to make sure you are getting the most from it, try playing around with the format a bit.

Behnaz:

Don't forget to compliment yourself and don't be afraid to approach your mistakes. After all, your gratitude journal is a safe space for you to express everything you are grateful for, without any outside judgment. The great thing about gratitude is that once you invite it in your life, it is easier to make it a part of your everyday. A few simple steps can help you invite more of this amazing emotion in your life. Thank you so much for listening.
