Relationships are the most important parts of our lives and yet we are being taught so little about them.
Here are some statistics on abusive relationships:

  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. This includes a range of behaviors (e.g. slapping, shoving, pushing) and in some cases might not be considered "domestic violence." 1 in 7 women and 1 in 25 men have been injured by an intimate partner.
  • On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.

This needs to stop! One way I am very passionate about is to do prevention work. While it is important to get out of your toxic relationship and having the resources to do so as well as the resources to deal with the trauma afterwards, I believe it is important to prevent this from happening. Let's educate ourselves and our next generation about healthy love and let's talk about unhealthy signs of love so we do not allow that into our lives anymore!
