EP 013 - The Breath Series: Mechanics (Part One) w/ Kieran Maguire
Sep 20, 2023 Season 1 Episode 13
Science of Fitness

Welcome to our three part series about all things breathing. This part one, where Kieran Maguire goes into depth about the specific mechanics that are necessary to breathe effectively.

Breathwork has taken the world by storm, mainly popularised by Wim Hof, so much so that it is being integrated into peoples daily health regimes. Although breathing is something we do from our first moment until the last, we rarely stop and think about how we breathe.

In this episode, we dive into the musculature of how we breathing and how it can be a whole body movement, the difference between chest breathing and diaphragmatic breathing and the chronic effects if we are breathing incorrectly plus so much more.

Stay tuned for the next two parts where we discuss the neuroscience and chemistry of breathing.
