Samantha Charles

Host Sam and Co-host Anthony discuss the wheel of consent.

Imagine interacting with another human without having any sort of agreement how it's going to go. No home buying without a contract, no romance without a discussion of boundaries, and no purchasing without a receipt. The truth is, every human interaction has some degree of giving, receiving, taking, or allowing.

The wheel of consent is a way to understand human interaction. In this podcast, we dive into what the wheel of consent looks like from an intimate relationship perspective, but this can be used as a source for any human interaction.

Understanding where you fall on the wheel of consent in relationships can be incredibly helpful for your growth. If you are a person who tends to give a lot, this discussion can open up a journey for you as you investigate why you give, and what you're searching for by giving so much. Giving is always tempered by a person asking  to receive something. When we give without a pure heart, or give with expectation attached to it, where is the consent? The difficult answer is... not present.

The wheel of consent brings in many conversation and growth experiences in relationships. The next time you want to have a discussion with someone in your life, notice where on the wheel you fall. Are you trying to make someone take something they don't want to? Are you able to receive gifts and love without feeling uncomfortable? Relationship opens the gate for learning wide.

You might even find a few kinks lying around the deeper you look.
