Nov 06, 2023 Season 1 Episode 7
Mariam Kapongo

Imagine stepping into a transformational journey, where we uncover the profound characteristics of love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, as described in Galatians 5:22-23. They are the distinguishing markers of Christians in a world often devoid of God and serve as a guiding force in our endeavor to personify Christ. Love is not just an emotion, but a conscious choice and an action, deeply grounded in the love God has shown us. Similarly, Joy is more than a fleeting feeling. It's an enduring state of contentment and peace, which transcends worldly circumstances.

The journey doesn't stop at understanding these fruits; we press further to discuss how we can cultivate them within us. The key, as we discuss, is knowing and loving Jesus. The more we align with him, the more these wholesome qualities find a home within us. God's blessings act as a catalyst in this process, inviting protection, guidance, and limitless love into our lives. Our conversation underscores the significance of walking in unison with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. This enlightening episode bristles with insights, encouragement, and opportunities to deepen your understanding and relationship with the Holy Spirit. So join us, and experience the joy of spiritual growth!

Mariam Kapongo:

Our first episode was obviously the introduction. We introduced the podcast. I let you know what the podcast is about. The second episode was the power of resurrection, the power of Lazarus, how Jesus resurrects Lazarus and how he want to resurrect us to, how he want to resurrect our spirit. Then we went on on turning on the GPS, turning on a GPS. I think that's everybody's favorite episode so far, actually, lazarus too. Then we talk about turning on the GPS. You might be saying GPS. The GPS is the Holy Spirit Turning on the Holy Spirit. We literally just stick in the journey of the Holy Spirit. Then last week, october 30th it was the last month of October we talk about the character of the Holy Spirit, the character of the Holy Spirit. I'm so excited because we are definitely in a wonderful journey of just understanding who is the Holy Spirit and who is the Holy Spirit.

Mariam Kapongo:

Today we are back again. Today we want to explore the beautiful, the beautiful transformative topic of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I am so excited. Today we are talking about the fruit of the Holy Spirit, the main Bible verse on the fruit of the Holy Spirit, it's Galatians 5, 22, 23, where the episode Paul, our uncle Paul, writes about the fruit of the Holy Spirit. He says by the fruit of the Spirit. It is love, joy, peace, kindness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Dive in and this wonderful fruit, and see how this fruit apply into our everyday life and how the fruit of the Holy Spirit separate Christian from Godless and evil word. It revealed the power within them and it helped us become more like Christ. Every day, daily after daily, the fruit allow us to become more like Christ. God is so good, so let's go.

Mariam Kapongo:

The first fruit of the Holy Spirit is the fruit of love, love. Love is not just an emotion, but it is a choice and action. We are called to love and conditional, just as God love us. When we build this fruit, we show love to our neighbor, our enemy and all those who we encounter. A very good example of love the first person who show us love, who show us all he loves us, it's God. It's God God. He definitely show us his love through the Bible of John 3.16, for God so loved the word that he gave his only son Whoever believe in him shall not perish but have internal life. So God gave us the fruit of the Holy Spirit love, by his action, by giving us his son, by him sending his son and allow his son to die on the cross for us.

Mariam Kapongo:

And then the second fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Mariam Kapongo:

It is the fruit of joy. Joy, joy, joy. Let joy overflow your heart this morning. If you just need the Holy Spirit to tickle you, to just give you joy, hey, joy, joy, joy, joy is here. Joy is another fruit that should be evidence in our life. This is joy. This is a joy that transcends circumstance, rooted in the knowledge of our salvation, of our salvation and God's grace. It is joy that allow us to be content, no matter the challenge we face. It is the joy that allow us to be content. You know, you trial situation. I mean most people, I think most people they're gonna experience joy during the month of December because Christmas is around the corner. Oh, joy, joy back, you know. Joy, joy, joy. It is joy that allow us to be content, no matter the challenge we face. Joy, allow us to be content. Joy, allow us to stand. In the book of Roman 1513 it says may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mariam Kapongo:

The third fruit of the Holy Spirit, it is the fruit of peace. Peace. I love it, peace, peace, the fruit, the fruit, the fruit of peace enable us to have inner tranquility and a mindset and tranquility amidst the chaos of the word. It is peace that comes from a relationship with God, trusting in his serving, serving control over our life. Let's, let's, let's read the book of John 14 27.

Mariam Kapongo:

John 14 27 it says, john 14.27 it says peace. I live with you, my peace I give you. I do not give you, I do not give to you as the word give you, do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid. Peace there's. There's two kind of peace. There's two kind of peace. There's the peace of God, the peace that just makes you understand, the peace that just makes you stand and ask, you be still and know that he is God. That is the peace of God. And the midst of chaos and the midst of trial and the midst of tribulation, you just stand in your peace, you just hold your peace in. You know, sometimes like also to like. You know, I've ever experienced when you just want to give somebody that good slap because they piss you off. But then the Holy Spirit there comes and just and just control you and and and shower you with this peace and just make you calm, and then you're just like peace, peace, don't you just love that? Yeah, as I said, there's a peace the word give us and there's a peace that God, the God, gave to us and the peace that God gives us, it ensure us that. Do not let, do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid. Peace, let the peace of the Spirit come and flow, flow, flow right right now, right now. Let the peace of his Spirit come, flow. Let the peace of God come and flow, flow over your life, flow over your family, flow over me.

Mariam Kapongo:

There is a wonderful, beautiful song out there, written by my pastor, pastor Emmanuel Adewusi Let the peace of the Spirit flow. You can come, you can come, and you can go and search it out on on YouTube. It's a very powerful song. It just makes you calm, it just like makes you calm, calm like a river. Let the peace of the Spirit flow over my life. Let it flow, flow, peace, peace, peace. I love it, love it, I love it, I love it. Oh, holy Spirit. You're so good, you're so good, holy Spirit, thank you, jesus.

Mariam Kapongo:

The first, the fourth, the first fruit of the Holy Spirit it is patience. Patient after peace. Patient, patient is a fruit that teach us to endure trial and difficult with grace and composure. It's remind us to be patient with others, as God has been, has been patient with us. This is found in the book of Roman 825.

Mariam Kapongo:

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait patiently. We wait patiently. You know, have the mindset of waiting, not just always. You know, like sometimes, as Christian, when we say a prayer, right, you're like, okay, god, and he does. This is the Jesus name, I believe, amen. And then you're like five second, god, where is it? No, the Bible is asking us to be patient. Patience, hold on, hold on, be patient. But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait patiently. Whatever miracle that you are hoping for, miracle that you are waiting for this year of 2023, and your miracles are not arrived, ask the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, just give me patience, patience right now, lord, to just wait, to just wait.

Mariam Kapongo:

And the fifth fruit of the Holy Spirit is the fruit of kindness. Kindness, be kind, smile, be kind. Kindness is a fruit that calls us to show compassion and consideration towards others. It's meant being quick to help, to forgive and to lead and helping hands. This is found in Ephesians 4, 432. Be kind and compassionate to one another. Forgive each other, just as Christ God has forgiven you. Kindness, Kindness, kindness has a beautiful fruit of the Holy Spirit Be kind.

Mariam Kapongo:

The sixth fruit of the Holy Spirit is goodness. Goodness, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Hey, yay, do you hear that? Surely goodness, mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Goodness is a signified moral, upright, upright righteousness and integrity. It is about living a life of righteousness and seeking to do what is good and just in God's eyes.

Mariam Kapongo:

The Bible said in the book of Galatians, 6, 9,. It said Let us not be coming. We're in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Goodness, do not give up. Let us not be coming. We're in doing good. Keep on doing good to that neighbor. Keep on doing good, because you reap, you will reap. You will reap a harvest if we do not give up. If we do not give up, we will see our good fruit of goodness. You shall see the goodness of God. His goodness and mercy shall surely run after you all the days of his life. Goodness, oh man, this Holy Spirit is too good. I mean this Holy Spirit, it is too good. His fruits are just so wonderful for us Christians to have and to develop in our life, amen.

Mariam Kapongo:

The seventh fruit of the Holy Spirit, it is faithfulness. Faithfulness, the Lord is faithful, and the Lord shall continue faith, being faithful to you, to your family, to your generation after generation. Faithfulness is a fruit that encourages us to be trustworthy and dependable in our relationship and commitment. It's about keeping our promise, just as God kept his promise to us. God is faithful, who has called you into the fellowship with his Son, jesus Christ, our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1-9,. It reminds, it's teaching us that God, he is faithful. Faithfulness, be faithful, be still, be faith, develop your faith. Faithfulness, stay faithful, stay put.

Mariam Kapongo:

I'm just going to give you guys a very quick story about faithfulness. That happened this week. So this week I had a meeting with my spiritual father. So in the meeting I was just telling my dad I was like, oh, I was like, okay, pastor, like I don't see, I don't see it, I don't see this, I don't see that. I'm like I just want to see, I just want to see and and. And my spiritual father asked me, miriam, what did God ask you to do in this season? And I was like, well, okay, he gives me the war became flash. I mean, we're doing good, but I want to, I want to do this, I want to.

Mariam Kapongo:

And then my pastor was reminding me it's like Miriam, want to remain faithful in what God has called you to, in what God has called you to do. Stay faithful in that, in the little one. Stay faithful and ask God for His grace. I was like, okay, okay, okay, I guess you know. It's like you know, faithfulness, faithfulness. Stay put, be faithful, be encouraged, trust God, depend on God. Whatever assignment God has put into your hand, stay faithful, be faithful to it. You know, don't jump from point B to Z. Serve God with His faithfulness, because he is being faithful. He is faithful from generation to come. He has been faithful until the age, until the age, the age, the age come. The Lord is faithful. Faithfulness, faithfulness. I love that. I just love the Holy Spirit. I really love the Holy Spirit.

Mariam Kapongo:

The eighth fruit of the Holy Spirit is gentleness. Gentleness, oh, wow, gentleness, remind us to be meek and humble, those two words already. I don't think, I don't know about you, but I already feel heavy like ooh. Be meek and humble, it's attribute that allow us to approach others with the spirit of gentleness, showing respect and understanding. In the book of Matthew, 11, 29, the Bible tells us, jesus says Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble and heart, and you will find rest for your soul. You will find rest for your soul. Gentleness, take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble and heart, and you will find rest for your soul. Gentleness, be meek, be humble, take your rest in Jesus. Take your rest in Jesus. Amen. The ninth spirit, the ninth fruit of the Holy Spirit Self-control, self-control.

Mariam Kapongo:

The fruit of self-control is an essential for managing our desire and in plus, in plus, it's empower us to resist temptation and to make choice that honor God. Self-control, choices that honor God, choices that honor the King of King, choices that honor the Lord. Hallelujah, amen. I mean. So far, which fruit of the Holy Spirit? Like, I need that. I need that For me. I feel like I need a lot of them. I need all of them.

Mariam Kapongo:

As a Christian, we all call to bear fruits the Holy Spirit in our life. These virtues are not optional, but necessary for living a Christ-Central life. Through the Holy Spirit's guidance and our daily surrender to God, we can cultivate and display this fruit in our relationship, our daily interaction and our walk with the Lord. Let us pray for God to help us and grow in this fruit in our life and becoming more like Christ every day.

Mariam Kapongo:

Before we just want to close, I just want to ask to read the book of John 15.4 and 5. John 15.4 and 5. The reason that I just want to read this scripture I just want you to understand that if you don't know Jesus, there is no way that you're going to develop these fruits. If you don't know Christ, there's no way that you're gonna carry this fruit, there's no way that you're gonna carry love, there's no way that you're gonna carry peace. So the only, the only way to carry this fruit is through Christ, is through Jesus. So John 15 for John 15, 45.

Mariam Kapongo:

It says remain in me as also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself. It must remain in the vein. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vein, you are the branch. If you remain in me and I in you, I will bear much fruit. I will bear much fruit apart from you, apart from apart from me, you cannot do nothing. So if we, in order for us to have this fruit of the Holy Spirit in our life one, we must know who is Jesus, we must know who is Jesus. And two, we must love him. And three, we must remember of him. And and three, we must, we must imitate him, we must walk with, with the Lord, jesus Christ.

Mariam Kapongo:

So I just want to encourage you, like, if you're, like, if you've never been born again, or you just never give your Christ, your life to, to, to Jesus, and you don't know who is Jesus, but you have to listen to this, to this podcast. I Want to, I want to welcome you, I want to welcome you into the kingdom of God. So I just want you to take a moment and to just say a simple prayer with me To invite Jesus into your life. So you are, daily after daily, you can experience this wonderful fruit of the Holy Spirit and ask the Holy Spirit, holy Spirit, I need, I need this fruit. I need your joy, I need your love. But in order for you to, as the Bible says in John 15, in order for you to bury this fruit, you gotta be with Jesus, you gotta stay with Christ, you gotta know who is Christ right? So I want you to just say a simple prayer with me right now, to just invite Jesus into your life, saying Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God and I believe you died for me on the cross, on the cross of cavalry. I Know I am a sinner and Today I come to you To forgive me of all my sin and to make me a brand new creation. I Accept you as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you, lord, for forgiving me and make me a born again. And Jesus mighty name. I have prayed Amen.

Mariam Kapongo:

If you have said that prayer with boldness, you know you've the. The Bible said we must, we must believe in our heart. It's very simple to give our life to Christ, but also to. I encourage you. It is simple to give our life to Christ, but it doesn't. It doesn't, you don't. You don't grow in simple, in in being simple. I encourage you that you grow also by submit yourself to the word of God, submit yourself to the word of God. It is our first priority. And and that's when. And that's when we account the Holy Spirit and and.

Mariam Kapongo:

If you can go back and listen to the character of the Holy Spirit, I talk about the character of the Holy Spirit and and and and that's when the Holy Spirit help us understanding, understanding the word you know, understanding it, and give us revelation, and and and give us wisdom upon his word. So I encourage you, if you have seen this prayer and if you don't have a home church but you say the prayer, you don't have a home church, you don't have a placement to grow. I encourage you to come to cornerstone Christian Church of God here in Edmonton and 9249 50th Street and come and make cornerstone as your family, come and make cornerstone as your home. And if you have a home church and you have, say this prayer and you're just a redid key, back your life to Christ and you're like I want this November, I want to walk with this fruit of the Holy Spirit. I encourage, I encourage go back to church, go, connect with community, stay, stay with community, stay with Christ, stay with Jesus, amen, amen, so yeah, so welcome, welcome to God's Kingdom and I encourage you guys to walk in this fruit of the Holy Spirit and to just ask the fruit.

Mariam Kapongo:

It takes time to grow fruits, so it takes time to grow fruit, like just throughout this whole month of November. If you need the fruit of love, just ask Holy Spirit. Help me grow this fruit. Help me to grow your love. Help me, help me to grow your joy. Help me to grow your peace. Help me to grow your patience. Help me to grow your kindness. Help me to help me to grow your goodness. Help me to grow your faithfulness. Help me to grow your gentleness. Help me to grow with self-control. You know, ask the Holy Spirit to help you to grow with this wonderful fruit of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for listening.

Mariam Kapongo:
