Mariam Kapongo

As your host Mariam, I'm elated to usher in the spirit of Christmas on this blessed December 25th, sharing not only the warmth of the season but the transformative message behind the birth of Jesus Christ. In a time when reflection and anticipation intertwine, we conclude our first season with a nod to the global tapestry of listeners who've joined our journey, particularly our friends in Nigeria, India, to the  community. This episode isn't just an ordinary gathering; it's a heartfelt embrace of jubilation and gratitude, where we traverse the emotional landscape Christmas can paint, emphasizing the true essence of this day.

Transport yourself to a Bethlehem manger as we recount the nativity story, breathing life into the Gospel of Luke's words and igniting the divine spark within each of us. We're reminded of the sacred pilgrimage of Joseph and Mary, the simplicity of Jesus's first bed, and the profound significance of Simeon's prophecy. The narrative, steeped in joy and fulfillment of ancient promises, serves as a beacon of hope, guiding us through the darkest of times and into the light that Christmas promises.

Wrapping up the season on an unexpected note, we delve into the mystery of the phrase "T-W-B-F_john1 under skirt ," inviting you to join in the speculation of its curious repetition and potential meaning. Whether you're a devout believer or someone seeking a flicker of faith amidst the holiday glow, this episode offers a prayer, a community, and perhaps even a touch of Christmas enigma. Let's close this year with hearts full of hope, eyes set on the horizon of the new year, and minds open to the wondrous of Jesus.

So stick around with me because it's going to be a great year. It's going to be a great year 2024.

Okay, first of all, let's shout out to Nigeria and let's shout out to India for being part of this wonderful community of the word become flesh. So I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you so much, thank you guys.

Mariam Kapongo:

Oh, my goodness, I was just sitting down and I say, God, I am not worthy of this, I am not worthy of me speaking of you. I was just in awe of how much, see, how far God has just bringing me and the passion that he had just restored me, speaking of his goodness and speaking of his word. I was in awe. I was very, I'm very, I'm very emotional because this 2023, oh my goodness, like only God knew that this is going to happen. Only God knew, you know, that he's going to. He's going to bring this voice out there, because this voice was never saying that I have nothing to do with Christ.

Mariam Kapongo:

Through my trauma and my pain that I went through, I did not want to have anything to do with Jesus, but guess what? Today is Jesus birthday. Happy birthday Jesus. So shut out to your long and say happy birthday Jesus. I mean, I was sitting down and I was like God.

Mariam Kapongo:

I really have mixed feelings for Christmas. For some of you, I know, christmas it is not the greatest things. For some of you, christmas brings you pain, and I definitely understand, and for some of you, christmas brings you joy. So, but guess what? We're here? We're here on the word become flesh. Let's not let's. Let's not make this day about us. Let's make this day about Christ. Let's make this day about Jesus. Let's make. Can you imagine, like when it's your birthday and your friend make your birthday about them. But it's your birthday, it's your own special day. But this day is a special day for redemption. It's a special day for promise, for God's promising.

Mariam Kapongo:

You know, if you go back in the book of Genesis and you see so many things that, as human, we did to God, our disobedience, you know the shame that we just brought into his name, into the holiness of God, you know. But then, after that God, he's still in awe of loving us. He's still in awe of loving us and giving up, and giving up the only thing that he can give, and you know, sacrifice, the only thing that he could sacrifice. He came and he sacrificed his son. He's like no, no, no, no, no. Satan, you might think that you won in the Old Testament, you might think that you won, but I have a greatest weapon that you haven't seen. I have the greatest weapon that you haven't seen and that's the sacrifice. You know, before God even made the sacrifice, he tasted humans. He tasted humans to be making sacrifice and the greatest example that we see. It is the greatest example of Abraham.

Mariam Kapongo:

Abraham waiting for so long to have his son. I'm telling you, abraham, waiting for so long to have his son, to a point where Sarah, you know, give up on the prophecy, give up on the promise. And, sarah, just keep on pushing Abraham and say you know what I'm giving you my servant. Go sleep with this servant so to make you, to make you, forget about the promises that God has spoken. So, this 2023, I want to encourage you. The year is still not over yet. The year is still not over yet.

Mariam Kapongo:

And then understand that the year is not yet over. So don't allow anybody to push the promises or anybody to push the prophecy that God has spoken to you and say, hey, listen, you see, god is later. Maybe you should do things like this no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't accept that. And that's what happened to Abraham. Sarah, his wife, pushed him and said I don't see this son, I don't see this child. Why don't you go sleep with my, one of my servant and give us a child. You know she got so desperate, she forgot that, the greatest promise that God that has not done with them. So let me, let me tell you that God is never later. Jesus is never later of your promises.

Mariam Kapongo:

So God saw if Abraham he foreshadowed, he went back, he said if Abraham can sacrifice his only big son, he was only testing his faith and he said that our father, abraham, has the most greatest faith. So, jesus, guess what? He did it for us. In the New Testament. He said for I love you so much, I will sacrifice my son for you, I will give my son for you. And this is the birth of Christmas.

Mariam Kapongo:

God himself and came down and sacrificed, and sacrificed his only big son to us. And he went to look to a woman who have a heart of faith, a woman who been keeping herself together. He went around and found the greatest man, the greatest woman, and call himself Mary. And God came to Mary and said to Mary the angel came to Mary and said don't be afraid, we bring you the greatest news you were born a son. And Mary said to herself how can this be? How can I burn a son when I am a virgin. And the angel said Mary, don't worry about that, jesus, god is taking care of that. You will burn a son, the Holy Spirit, he will give you power and he will give you a son. His name shall be Jesus, his name shall be Emmanuel. Mary said let it be done according to your will, let it be done. Mary received the word. She did not push the word. She received the word and she said oh, let it be done according to your will.

Mariam Kapongo:

So this month, this month of Christmas, I don't know a miracle that you are waiting to knock on your door, to knock on your door, just receive your miracle, receive your joy, receive your joy and say Jesus, I receive you this Christmas, I receive you this Christmas. Lord, I have pushed you away this Christmas. I have pushed you away this Christmas, but I invite you, come, come, come into my life, come into my life, hallelujah. It is the greatest, the most wonderful year of the year, because our Savior, he is born, because Jesus is born. Jesus is born, the greatest gift that we can have received. It is the greatest gift of Jesus. Hallelujah. I mean, this is just so, it's just so amazing, the story of Jesus.

Mariam Kapongo:

So for those ones who don't know the story of Jesus, like, ah, why is she so high? I mean, we haven't started yet. This is just an introduction. This is just an introduction, we haven't started yet. But before we start, we're gonna start with a word of prayer. We're gonna start with a word of prayer, we're gonna start with a word of Thanksgiving and we're gonna thank God. Oh, my goodness, we're gonna thank God for the greatest gift that he has given us. It is the gift of Jesus. It is the gift of Jesus, it's the gift of our Savior to come and save us and to come and restore us. So let us pray and we're gonna open the word Amen.

Mariam Kapongo:

In Jesus' name, father, in the mighty name of Jesus, lord, I thank you, o God, I thank you, jesus. I thank you for this miracle of Christmas. O God, I thank you for this miracle of Christmas. O Jesus, lord, I thank you for the miracle of Jesus. I thank you for the birth of Jesus, lord, I thank you, I thank you, father, this Christmas, my Father, god, lord, there's so many broken hearts, there's so many broken spirit, o God, there's so many lost souls. My Father, god, oh, my to God, for us this Christmas some of us, it would be a lonely Christmas, o God, because we do not have anybody. We don't have a family, o God, we don't have nobody to celebrate Christmas with but Jesus, holy Spirit, I invite you right now, in this place, in the heart of your people, o God, as they hear the greatest birth story of Jesus, as they hear the greatest story of the one who leaves.

Mariam Kapongo:

O God, father, come and have your way, take control of my voice. My Father, god, lord, let me speak from your heart. O God, let me speak from your heart. My Father God, let not speak of my own desire, let not speak of my own will, my Father God, but of your desire. Holy Spirit come, ah. Holy Spirit come, ah, cleanse me in the mighty name of Jesus. The blood of Jesus make me new. My Father God, oh, re-carry the barabossa renda barabossa revocosa cantabarabossa. I need your cleansing, o God. I need your cleansing as I read your word, o God, oh, let your work come with power. O God, let your work come with restoration. Let your work come restore us, come restore our families. O God, come restore our churches. O God, come restore our land, o Jesus, as this is the greatest miracle of Christmas, of joy to the world. The Savior has born, the King has born Jesus. We invite you into this place. Come and have your way and you will be done. In Jesus, mighty name, we pray Amen, hallelujah, glory to God. Let us take the word of God and look to, look to. I mean, I am gonna read as the Spirit lead. You know, and the Spirit ask me to stop, I'm gonna stop. So open up your Bible on, look to, and we're gonna read from the NIV version. I'm reading from the NIV version Okay, okay, let's go.

Mariam Kapongo:

In those days, caesar Augusta issue a decree that Caesar should be taken off the entire Roman word. This was the first Caesar that took place while Coronians was government of Syria and everyone went their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judah, to Bethlehem, to the town of David. Because he belonged to the house of line of David, he went. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, while they were there, the time came for the baby to be born and she gave a bird to her first, her firstborn son. She wrapped him in the clothes and placed him in the manger, because there was no guest room available for them and there were shepherd living out of the field nearby keeping watch over the flock.

Mariam Kapongo:

At night, an angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified. But the angels said to them do not be afraid, I bring you good news that will cause you great joy for all the people. Today, in the town of David, a savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you. You will find a baby wrapped in clothes lying in manger. Suddenly, a great company of the heavenly hosts appear, with the angel. Praise God, saying glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth, peace to those whom his favor rests.

Mariam Kapongo:

When the angel had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherd said to one another let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about. So they hurry off and found Mary and Joseph and the baby who was laying in the manger. When they had seen him, they sprayed the word concerning what he had been told them about his child and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherd said to them. But Mary treasured up all things and prundered them in her heart. The shepherd returned glorify and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just, which as they had been told them. On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise, the child was named Jesus, the name of the angel had given him before he was conceived.

Mariam Kapongo:

When the time came for the purification, the router required. But the law of Moses, joseph and Mary took him to the Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. As it's written in the law of the Lord, every first maleborn is to be consecrated to the Lord and to offer a sacrifice in living with what is said in the law of the Lord a pair of dove or to a young pigeon. Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteousness and devoted. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel and the Holy Spirit was on him. It has been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple course when the parents bought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the law required. Simeon took him in his arm, praised God, saying serving in Lord, as you have promised me. As you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes, I've seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nation, a light for revelation to the Gentile and the glory of your people, israel. The child, father and mother, marvelous at what has said about him. Then, simeon blessed them and said to marry his mother. This child is destiny to cause the falling and raising of many in Israel is to be a site that will be spoken against, so that the thought of many hearts will be revealed and a sword will perish on your own soul too.

Mariam Kapongo:

There was also a prophet Anna, the daughter of Peniel of the tribe of Esham. She was very old. She had lived with her husband 70 years after marriage, then was a widow until she was 84. She never left the temple but worshiped night and by day, fasting and praying, coming up to them the very moment she gave things to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward the redemption of Jerusalem. When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the law of the Lord. They returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth, and the child grew and become stronger, he was filled with wisdom and the grace of God was on him. Amen. I'm just gonna stop there. That was look two from verse 1 to 40.

Mariam Kapongo:

But I encourage you this Christmas, meditate on the story of Jesus, meditate on the birth of Jesus. Ask yourself what is Christmas is about. It is not about the gifts, it is not about the presence. I know gifts that are amazing. Their parents, I know they're amazing. Go forth, give your children gifts. But also to remind your children the reason of Christmas, the reason why we celebrate Christmas, the reason why most people they gather into their house, most people, you know, we gather in the church and then we just worship. Remember that, remember the season of Christmas. It is a great, it's amazing. I love those people that they give because the Bible encourages us to give to our brothers and sisters. It is wonderful.

Mariam Kapongo:

But the meaning of Christmas, it is all about the birth of Christ. It is all about the birth of Jesus. So I love, I love, I love, I love the, I love the gesture of giving. So if you keep giving those gifts to those that need, you know, but also to keep in mind. What is the meaning of Christmas? What is the meaning of Christmas? It's all about Jesus. It's all about the birth of Jesus.

Mariam Kapongo:

The story of Jesus birth isn't just a, isn't just a tale. It's a narrative of hope, love and a profound message of God. Divine intubation into the word God, divine intubation because God, oh my goodness, if we read the book of New Testament, new Testament, it just show you how much wicked as human that we are and how God still have grace and mercy every day, every day upon us. And then now we jump into the New Testament is like, okay, new Testament, I'm gonna switch it up. You know, I am gonna bring, I'm gonna give them my own gifts, right, he's like I'm gonna give them my own gift and that my own gift it's gonna be Christ. It's gonna be Jesus, the one that he's gonna bring joy, the one that, oh, my goodness, the one that he's gonna sit on the cross. It is finished and it is finished when he speak. It is finished and it is finished, right. So this is the reason of Christmas, right?

Mariam Kapongo:

Jesus, he came, he was born. He was born in a beautiful family, mary and Joseph. He was definitely. He was born, he was not burning in the rich houses, he was born in a manger, you know, there was no, there was no room, there was no room for them to, but they, they went to find a little place and then, but, but the way that Jesus was announced it to everybody, right?

Mariam Kapongo:

So this Christmas, as we celebrate Christmas, let's remember the it's. Let's me let us reflect on the lesson. It's teach us Jesus life from the manger to the cross, and explain, explain fine compassion, forgiveness and softnessness. It's urge us to unburst this virtue in our own life, to extend helping hands to those in need, to forgive and we've been forgiven and to love unconditional.

Mariam Kapongo:

Okay, christmas isn't just a historic event, but it's an invitation. It's an invitation, a call to welcome Christ in our hearts. It's an invitation to like to like look at your life and say, wow, where's my relationship with Jesus? You know, like this Christmas it's, it's just reflected. Just sit down and reflect how is my walk with God, how's my walk with Christ? Wait, where have I put Jesus? Have I put him in a box as a? Where is Jesus? Where is Jesus? Where is Jesus? You know, this Christmas I encourage you to sit down and and eventually examine yourself and say where is Christ, where is Jesus this whole year of 2023, where is Jesus in my life? Right, so it's opportunity to let the light of his love and grace shine through us. Right In the world, often married by division, conflict and despair, the story of Jesus births serve us as a beacon of hope.

Mariam Kapongo:

It reminds us that even in the midst of chaos, even in the midst of chaos, there is a promise of peace. You know, when those people they say, oh, my goodness, I feel the Christmas spirit, that Christmas spirit is the spirit of peace, it is spirit of joy, it is the spirit of redemption, it is the spirit of understanding, knowing that the devil doesn't have no authority, knowing that the devil does not have no power over our life, knowing that we are victorious, knowing that we are overcome. So this is the Christmas joy, this is the Christmas spirit that when people say I feel the Christmas spirit, it's the reminder the Jesus, he is still king. The Jesus, he's still the Lord of Lord. The Jesus still have power, the Jesus still have authority in our life. Right, right, right.

Mariam Kapongo:

It is the most, it's the most season that you just sit down, spend time in being gratitude, spraying the message of love and peace, and love and peace and joy. You know the miracle of Christmas, the birth of our Savior inspire us to leave filled with compassion, kindness and unerring our faith. You know, when they ask you, where is your faith? Your faith is in Christ Jesus. Your faith is in Christ. Your faith is knowing that, even in the midst of chaos, knowing that Jesus is still have control, knowing that Jesus is still have power. This is the meaning of Christmas.

Mariam Kapongo:

So I pray that this Christmas, the joy come into your house. Joy come into your house. If joy has left into your house, I declare right now, this Christmas, declare the joy of Jesus Christ. Declare the joy of Jesus Christ over your house. Declare the joy of Jesus Christ over your family. Declare the joy of Jesus Christ over your workplace. Whatever, whatever that you need, the joy this Christmas, pick up, pick up, pick up, pick up the cross, pick up the cross. Oh, this Christmas, pick up the blood, pick up the blood. The blood still have power. The Jesus still have power this 2023,. Oh, the Lord still have a miracle. A miracle for you is waiting. So look into your heart. Ask yourself where have I placed Jesus? Where have I placed Jesus this year, when have I been with Jesus?

Mariam Kapongo:

And if you realize that this Christmas you say you know what I have left Jesus in the corner, I want to invite you right now, this Christmas, and for those ones you've been, you've been with God, you've been with Jesus here. You've been hurt before. I understand it is okay to be hurt, but don't sit down on your hurts, don't sit down on your pain, because that's what the enemy wants for you. You know, pick up, pick up those tears, wipe those tears and say God, you know what I've been hurt, I've been betrayed. But, god, I need a fresh restoration. As this 2023 is coming to an end, I need a fresh of restoration. I need a fresh of your miracle. Amen, amen, amen.

Mariam Kapongo:

And also, too, if you, if this whole message did not just make sense to you, like my goodness, what is? What is she's talking about? Who is this Jesus? I don't know this Jesus, I really want to invite you right now. I want to invite you right now.

Mariam Kapongo:

Did you say a sinner's prayer with me? You know, if you want to dedicate your life to Christ and if you want to give your soul back to Christ, and if you want to understand the main foe of Christmas, the joy of Christmas. I want to. I want to invite you. I want to invite you, that's, I want to invite you to give your life to Christ with me. So would you do me a favor right now, where you're sitting right now, would you say this prayer with me? Say this prayer with me. Say, lord Jesus Christ, I believe you are the Son of God and I believe you die from me on the cross of Calvary. I know I am a sinner and today I come to you to forgive me of all my sin and to make you a brand new creation. I accept. I accept you as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you, lord Jesus. Thank you, lord, for forgiving me and make me a born again. In Jesus mighty, near my prayer, amen.

Mariam Kapongo:

If you have said that prayer of giving your life to Christ Jesus, I want to say congratulations. I want to say your 2023, baby, it's just starting. 2023 is just starting and in your 2024, it's going to be great. So congratulations. But anyways, I encourage you. If you have seen that prayer and you have seen that prayer, whatever you are, whatever that you are, you have seen that prayer, but you don't have a home church. I want to encourage you to join a church I know, to join a community. I mean, it's so important to be part of a community, it is important to be part of a church, right, if you're definitely in Edmonton and you don't have a home church. Simply, I want to encourage you, come and join me to my home church, cornerstone Christian Church of God, on 9249 and 50th Street.

Mariam Kapongo:

Okay, so come and be part of the community and grow, because your spirit cannot grow alone. You just cannot grow alone. We cannot grow alone. Okay, that, we have to grow on a meditative God's word reading, god's word community. Have spiritual authority, be undercover, be undercover. Be undercover of spiritual authority, because it's so easy for the devil to attack you when you are alone. But you know, when we are in the midst of a community, we're in the midst of a strong, faith-based community built in the word of God, built by the power of the Holy Spirit. There is the power of togetherness that the enemy cannot broke. There's that core that the enemy cannot broke, amen. So, but I encourage you, if you're part of the word and you're not part of Edmonton, you are somewhere else in the world please be part of a community, engage in a community. Go back to church. Go back to a community. Find yourself a good church. Ask for the Holy Spirit to help you, to guide you. Of which church should I attend? Amen, okay, and also to I'm not gonna say the Bible.

Mariam Kapongo:

I'll say this book of the meditative God's word. Read the word of God. If you're finding difficult to read the word of God, best way it's just enlisting. Put the Bible, play the Bible audio, just allow the Bible to speak to you and also to keep in, listen to the word become flesh podcast, because here on the word become flesh we all about in the beginning was the word and the was what with. In the beginning was the word and the word. What was God? And the words were God and the word was God and the word is God and the word has become flesh into our life and you just have to have to take the word and apply the word into your life. You just gotta put the word of God into practice and I promise you, I promise you you will see how it become flesh into your life. So have merry Christmas.

Mariam Kapongo:

I'm not gonna say happy new year, because we're back here, here on the word become flesh. We're here every first Monday of the month and last Monday of the month. So I'm gonna say merry Christmas, merry Christmas, merry Christmas. Have a wonderful, joyful, merry Christmas. That this Christmas will be your best Christmas yet with you and your loved one. Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice because baby ha ha, it's the birth of Christ and we still have power, we still have authority. We still have power that the enemy does not have no authority over our life. He is a bug. He is a bug of our life. He is under our feet. He is under our feet. This is just the beginning. The birth of Jesus. It's just the beginning of your life. So, merry, merry Christmas. God bless you. See you on the first Monday of our new month of January and also watch out for January.
