I'm so glad that you're tuning in for today's episode.

Speaker 1:

For today's episode, I'm sharing with you an Instagram live that I recorded with Krista Little, owner of Citizen Mobile Massage, and it is all about self-care social, which is happening on July 18th in Westfield, new Jersey, where Krista and I will be collaborating on a class together called Lymphatic Drainage Through the Power of Breath. So we're combining somatic movement, breath work, reiki, sound healing, lymphatic drainage all into one class. It's going to be great, and the self-care social itself is a huge event, where they shut down Westfield, new Jersey's Main Street, and they have all these different vendors, all these different keynote speakers, all these different classes. So it's going to be a really great event and I'm so excited and grateful to be a part of it. So I hope that you enjoy today's episode. I hope that you have a great 4th of July week. I hope you have a great rest of your day and I will talk to you soon.

Speaker 2:

Day and I will talk to you soon. Hello everyone, I'm Krista Little, owner of Citizen Mobile Massage and founder of Self Care Social. Today we're going to be talking with Rachel Craft about our collaborative class that we will be hosting at Self Care Social at 5 30 pm, thursday, july 18th. All right, we have Rachel coming on. If you guys don't know Rachel, you should definitely follow her. She is one, a great friend of mine, my yoga guru, my breath work mentor. She really got me into breath work and the practice has really transformed my personal life and also my business life as well. Um, finding time just to breathe and settle in to your feelings is, like, just so transformative and gives you the opportunity to just think more clearly and more rationally. So when you show up to your friends and family, you really show up as your true loving self, which is beautiful, amazing. So let's get works, because I'm not that great at lives, but I'm super excited. Yes, yay, oh, my god, amazing. The beautiful rachel. Yes, I'm so excited.

Speaker 1:

Oh my gosh, me too.

Speaker 2:

I just did your intro, but I'm gonna just do a quick one, since your gorgeous face is on camera now. This is Rachel Craft, the somatic coach to girl for breath work trauma informs um healing from somatic to now sound healing as well. Right, yes, yes, rachel is doing it all. Um? Do you want to tell everyone how we know each other?

Speaker 1:

yeah, yeah, no, thank you for that introduction. You are, you're so sweet and I just I love collaborating with you in general and just being a part of self-care social. I'm so excited. So, thank you, thank you, thank you. But yes, I know Krista originally from one of my best friends, from. Actually is how I met Krista? Krista is my friend, stephen's cousin, and so we met when I was in high school. Yeah, I mean, we, my God that long ago. Yeah, that's when we first like met, right, and I just remember. I remember Stephen would always be like you have to meet my cousin, like you'll love her, like you guys are like, so similar. And Stephen would always be like you have to meet my cousin, like you'll love her, like you guys are like, so similar.

Speaker 1:

And she loves to travel and then we didn't even know each other like two days and we like went to Colorado, like we were just let's go and that was it.

Speaker 2:

That was kind of yes, and then you know fast forward here we are as practitioners ourselves. It's crazy how I feel like Wanderlust was what that was almost 10 years ago, which is crazy Eight years and that was really that was the year that I decided to go back to massage therapy school. I think that was the year that I decided to go back to massage therapy school. I think that was the year you really started thinking seriously about your wellness practices as well, and that's wonderful.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's where I discovered breathwork for the first time, really. Yeah, it was at the festival in 2016. I had never even heard of it before that, and I went on to become certified through the facilitator. Her name's Erin Salford. I went on to become certified through her work. I have a few certifications for breathwork, but that's one of them and that was kind of like the catalyst for me, and that, you know, threw me into the world of semantics and threw me into the world of, like, everything that I now do. That's like where it really originated, so I love that.

Speaker 2:

I'm like, if we could go back to 2016, what would you even have told yourself? Did you ever even think? Or imagine, this is where you would be.

Speaker 1:

I mean not in, not in a million years, like I don't know. Like I mean maybe there was like a part of me, but nothing to the extent that it's like now. You know, I think it was. You know cause I I, since that time I've done so many different practices where you like write a letter to your future self or, like you know, record a video of you. Like write a letter to your future self or like you know, record a video of you like talking to yourself in one year from now, and all that stuff. And some of them are like pretty crazy, like where I was saying, like become like a Brunswick facilitator, become a coach, and like I'm like I didn't even know that I was thinking this like that many years ago.

Speaker 2:

Right. So reflect back. It's such a beautiful thing and how important it is to really give yourself that space to think about what do you want with your future, and I feel like breath work is really a great space for that, because you're able to think way more clearly when all your cells are oxygenated right, you're not clenching your jaw.

Speaker 2:

You're actually like in full relaxation mode because you're getting all this amazing oxygen and detoxing your body from all of that waste that we just hold when we're holding our breath with anxiety or stress, which doesn't have those things?

Speaker 1:

I don't know. No, exactly Exactly that, and that was also what led me to breathwork was anxiety and just having a very active mind, and it's something I still experience today. You know, none of us are immune to anxious thoughts or just having a very active, loud mind, and that's what breathwork does for me, one of the many things. But it quiets the mind so that I'm able to hear just more like the sound of my intuition, more like really like clarity, rather than like oh, this and this right oh my god.

Speaker 2:

As a woman and a small business owner, I feel like that is just. The brain is always like I have a million things all the time, but when you're thinking like that, you're not really doing anything with intention, and when you work more with clarity and with alignment, things just flow in such a much more effortless way, which I mean I need to practice breath work more than just daily, I know, but I love it and you really were like my segue into breath work as well. I mean, working with you for that six months to a year after my dad passed really helped me with some serious grief and managing my emotions, but it also helped me with my business. It helped me like think more clearly about where I saw the future of citizen mobile massage and self-care, social, because I was able to like clearly visualize what the next steps were, versus just being so overwhelmed which I mean, of course, that's so definitely happens. Having those moments of clarity it's just oh yeah, no, I.

Speaker 1:

I loved working with you and it's been such a journey and I just love how our friendship and relationship can just shift and mold and it's just so amazing that we're able to go from meeting in high school to working together, to collaborating, to just all the things.

Speaker 2:

I love it. Yes, me too. So should we talk a little bit about our class? Yeah, let's do it, let's do it. So we will be leading at Self-Care Social, thursday, july 18th at 5.30 pm. A lymphatic activation, a lymphatic I forgot the name. Clearly, I didn't practice any breath work before I came here.

Speaker 1:

I think it's lymphatic through the power of breath. Yes, something power of breath. This is a real mommy brain.

Speaker 2:

It's questionable. I don't write it down.

Speaker 2:

I don't know if I remember anything, but it's all working. Oh my gosh, that's so funny, but we've been talking about this class for years now how to integrate breath and lymphatic drainage and how to marry the two and how beautiful it really can be and transformative, because the breath right, the diaphragm movement, helps with getting to the organ level of the lymphatic drainage and then just getting all that oxygenation into the body to get your lymph flow moving, and how good you feel after breath work too. Oh my god, tell us a little bit about the breath work you're going to lead in the class yeah, absolutely so.

Speaker 1:

I know that we're starting with some lymphatic drainage exercises and some self-massage and some somatic movement and then we'll go right into the breath and we'll be doing an activating breath pattern. So that will really be kind of allowing your mind to settle and at that point you'll probably already be in the flow of the class is really nice. So the breath will probably just like really open you up. It's going to open you up. You'll probably feel more, um, light, more creative, more clear-headed, um, potentially also more grounded. So it might be uplifting for some and also very like grounding and nurturing for others. I think what's interesting about the breath is that it meets you exactly where you're at and, although I'm guiding and cueing you and facilitating, a lot of it is a self-made experience, depending on what your body needs on that day and how the breath will affect you on that day. So we'll also do some meditation and some sound healing too. So it's going going to be a really, really beautiful experience.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, I mean we have some beautiful things happening. I'm very excited for you to introduce some sound healing at the end. That's going to be a beautiful closing and starting the class with some lymphatic self-massage, which a lot of people are not leading people in the right direction. With lymphatic drainage, really opening the lymph nodes is so crucial to get that lymph flow moving and exiting in the right direction. You want it to exit your body, so you want it to go to your exit points in your lymph nodes. So I mean doing dry brushing and having your legs over your head is amazing, but if you're not really activating your lymph nodes, then you're. You're moving lymph but you're not actually guiding it to its exit point. So you want to open that door and we're going to do those points and create habits for the future that you can do just a few minutes a day and we're going to do some movement to get that lymph really flowing and exiting the body and then, by the end, doing some breath work, I mean yeah how good is that gonna feel?

Speaker 2:

I'm so excited. I am so excited. My clients that come to me for lymphatic drainage massage literally they're like I didn't know I could be that relaxed, and it's just crazy how your lymphatic system, once you get rid of some of this inflammation in your body, you can just have so much more energy, so much more mental clarity, so much less joint pain, so much more mental clarity, so much less joint pain, so much less fatigue. All of these things that I think women definitely deal with, things that also create anxiety and stress and come on with stress. But also for like new moms like myself, if I'm not doing these, these things, like my whole face is like swollen, which is terrible. It doesn't feel good and it's hard to do things when you feel that inflamed all the time. So I'm super excited that we're gonna to be offering this. Yes, yes, yes, um. So, rachel, please tell everyone where they can find information about you and how to follow you so they can connect.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I'm primarily on Instagram, so you know you can always connect with me there. Follow me there, send me a DM, um, if you want to. You know you can always connect with me there. Follow me there, send me a DM, um, if you want to, you know, chat more in depth. I also have a podcast that you can check out. I'm almost one year into the podcast, which is which is wild. So there's over 40 episodes. It's something nice. You can kind of just like scroll and binge a few and, um, yeah, just in general, send me a message.

Speaker 2:

I'm always happy to chat, so I love it, and you can find our class on my website citizen mobile massage. Scroll down to our self-care social. We are the first class of the event at 5 30 pm. That's th Thursday, july 18th at 5.30. Make sure you register in advance because last year we sold out all of our classes, which was phenomenal. But I want to get you guys in the class so you can feel so good and so relaxed with Rachel and I and really tap into some good breath work, some good lymphatic drainage and some amazing healing that you can take away for your day-to-day. Do you feel like you're getting just like five less than five minutes of breath?

Speaker 1:

If you'd like me to sure.

Speaker 2:

I know I would, I know I would, I know I would. Yeah, I feel like she's already ready today. So I mean, if you want to, I know I just sprung that up on you.

Speaker 1:

I mean, and hey, let's do it, I have my laptop.

Speaker 2:

Yes, let's work with Rachel. Just a few quick minutes.

Speaker 1:

Oh my God, I'm very excited, I have to get music that won't flag the live, so just give me one second. I haven't saved so much.

Speaker 2:

You guys are involved in this. You're extremely lucky, because her classes are transformative, her music is always so on point too, so I'm sorry I totally sprung this on you, but um oh no, it's okay.

Speaker 1:

The the royal, like when I don't know what it's called. It's called like royalty free music. Right, that's what I would have to play now, because if it's like someone else's song, it will flag in the live and then it'll get deleted. So we're not doing that.

Speaker 2:

Don't delete us, delete us and who else needs some breath work in their morning? At 10 18 am? I mean? This is when you're either feeling your serious workflow or getting things together. We're in the middle of the week. You need a little pick me up to get your day going um all right, yeah, yeah, what are we feeling?

Speaker 1:

maybe we could do, um, or I'll suggest something and you tell me if that feels good for you. Um, we could do the pulse breath, like inhaling twice through our nose and exhaling twice through our mouth. I love that one. So looks and sounds like this yeah, and then we'll take a deep inhale through the nose and we'll hold our breath at the top, so then I'll cue you for that. Take and we'll hold our breath at the top, so then I'll cue you for that. Take a deep inhale, hold your breath at the top and release. And do you want to do two rounds of that, or do you think one is fine? Oh, let's go.

Speaker 2:

No, no, we're going to do some breath work. What am I holding on to Breath? What else?

Speaker 1:

So we're going to do one round of that and then we'll close with the halo active Inhaling through your nose, exhale and then top hold. So I'll just to recap really fast we'll do the pulse active Inhaling twice through your nose, exhaling twice through your mouth, go into a taupe hold, then we'll go into the halo active inhaling once through your nose and once through your mouth, taupe hold, and then we'll close you got me Tarana Okay.

Speaker 1:

I got you girl. Yeah, if you don't remember any of that, don't worry, because I will be guiding you the whole time. Okay, so I just want to invite you to gently rest your eyes, if you're obviously not driving. So, since you're not driving, resting your eyes gently. Resting your eyes gently and starting with three cleansing breaths, so taking a deep inhale through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Taking a deep inhale through your nose, exhaling through your bowl and taking one more deep breath, just like that, at your pace, and allowing your energy to settle. Just checking in with exactly how you're showing up today. It's about 10, 30 in the morning, so how you're showing up today and how you're hoping to feel at the end of our breath. Take a moment to set your own intention and, when you feel ready, beginning that pulse, active breath. Inh're listening to your body and finding that peace, and now I'm ready.

Speaker 1:

That feels good for you and about 30 seconds of this active breath, letting that inhale deep into the lungs, letting that exhale, exhale, release. That's it. And if your body wants to move, you can move your shoulders and taking just a few more breaths. Ah, take me a deep inhale through your nose. On that next inhale, holding, holding, holding and releasing the big sigh oh my god, that was so oh continue, oh sorry now can end. Do you have another live after this?

Speaker 2:

I do soon. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm done. All right, that was amazing. We should have started with the breath because, wow, that felt so good. Anyone who is chiming in you are super lucky to have been graced by this beautiful being, rachel Krabs. Oh my god, just being guided through emotions. It is just absolutely unbelievable how so many of us go through our day holding our breath and clenching our jaw and just dealing with so much stress and anxiety. I am just so endlessly grateful for those few minutes because it really you can see the difference in my face like. I could have just kept going.

Speaker 1:

I'm like in the zone now.

Speaker 2:

Oh my god, I have to keep ready for time, but I want to do this forever, oh my gosh. I need to get a little date with you actually. Yeah, yes, rachel does also do private sessions. For anyone who needs more than just five minutes of breath, doing a full hour is extremely transformative.

Speaker 1:

MJ highly highly recommend it. Thank you. Yeah, I love breath work and I just I'm so excited for our class and that's a nice little, nice little snippet of what you can expect. Um, but I'm it's gonna be so beautiful and I'm always so grateful for you know, just being able to collaborate with you and the incredible events that you put together. It's like amazing to watch, so, so crucial, can't wait.

Speaker 2:

I know it's going to be wild Over 30 vendors, all wellness, the fact that we're going to have a flash mob yoga class that's our closer, and Athleta is going to be doing a fashion show as our opener and we're going to have the entire block of quimby street thanks to downtown westfields and brassy buddha yoga.

Speaker 2:

So anybody who hasn't hasn't been to brassy and Buddha as well, like it's just such oh my god, you do not feel like you're in Westfield, you're in New Jersey. You really feel like you're hidden away in a really beautiful space to allow for really transformative healing. So I'm very excited for all this. Yes, amazing. Thank you so much, Rachel. I cannot wait for a class if you haven't signed up. Make sure you get sarah the website. We have ten dollars off for classes and speakers until friday for international yoga day.
