Welcome back to the podcast. If you are new here, I'm Rae. I'm a somatic coach and breathwork facilitator, and if you aren't new here, welcome back. I'm so glad that you're tuning in for today's episode.

Speaker 1:

So you may have noticed that last week there was no podcast episode, and our next episode after this one will be in the beginning of August, so I'm just taking a little bit of time to rest, recharge. I have a few big events coming up as well, so just a little bit more time to find a little bit of a better balance of what I can manage. I've made a few changes and so it's been a little bit of a tough adjustment for me, and so because of that, I need a little bit more time to myself. I've been starting to do a little habit tracker. I've switched gyms and I'm starting to go to acupuncture, which has been really nice. I'd actually love to have a guest expert on the podcast to talk about acupuncture, because it's been really nice. So I just want to communicate with you, kind of like, what my current plans are. So today's episode we'll have today, and then we'll have another episode in August, and then I'm planning to be back. So I'll take a little break in August and then I'll be back in September with either weekly episodes or bi-weekly, depending on what I can manage. So I haven't figured out that detail just yet, but I'd also really like to have a few more guests on. So that's something that I'm currently working on too. So you have that to look forward to. Okay, so that's something that I'm currently working on too, so you have that to look forward to.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so that's the podcasting side of things, and then for events this summer and ways that you can work with me. So I'll be teaching at self-care social in Westfield, new Jersey, which is one of my close friends, krista Little of Citizen Mobile Massage. It's one of her events that she hosts every year and it is amazing. So she was also on our last episode, if you've listened to that, and so check that out if you haven't already. And so that will be on Thursday this week, actually, so the day after this episode is being released. And then I'll also be teaching at the OM Festival, which is in Arlington, vermont and I cannot believe this, I'm so excited and that is one that one is with one of my best friends, katie Kirchheim, and we'll be doing a somatic breath work and intuitive writing class. So it's really all about connecting with your body, connecting with your breath, connecting with source and your spirit guides. It's going to be pretty amazing. So I'm really excited for that. That is on July 26th and it's in Arlington, vermont. So if you have any questions about either of those two events, you can send me a DM or you can check out the link in the show notes. Link in the show notes. And so, if you did attend any of the Masterclass Pass classes in the beginning of this year or in the spring, you'll see that those are on pause for this summer as well. So I do have some ideas and some inspiration for what I would like to teach in the fall, and so when I have a little bit more clarity on that, I will also be sharing that information with you too, in terms of what you can expect for group classes and events in the fall. So I do have space for one one-on-one client right now.

Speaker 1:

So if you're interested in doing somatic breathwork, somatic coaching, to really, at the root of it, connect with your truest self, your intuition, and to also let go of any old limiting beliefs, old patterns, anything that might no longer be serving you to really get closer to where you want to be, then this is for you. So it's the most support that you can receive and it's six months, and if it interests you, then usually what we'll do is we'll hop on a call. I like to use Zoom because I want to see you and meet you and really meet you where you're at and see if I can support you. So I give you time to kind of figure it out, I answer any questions that you might have and then you'll also experience some meditation and breathwork, because I want you to have a sense of what it would be like when we work together. So if that is something that interests you, I'll leave a link in the show notes. You fill out a form and then I'll reach out to you to set up a time that we can talk together.

Speaker 1:

So for today, so far, I have gone to acupuncture. This morning I went for an hour-long bike ride, I took care of my porch garden and now I'm here sharing this episode with you. Tonight I'll be watching a firework show with some friends, and I just love summer, I love fire season and I really love the place that I live. There's just always so much going on and it's so nice. So I hope fire season has been going well for you so far, that summer has been treating you well, that you've been enjoying it, and that's what today's episode is all about.

Speaker 1:

Fire season. So, according to five element theory, fire season begins on the summer solstice, which was on June 20th, and it ends in late summer, so kind of end of August being beginning of September, when earth season begins. And fire season is all about being expansive. And fire season is all about being expansive, being connected to joy, being in relationship with other people. So think community, connection, love. This is when people are gathering, they are going to barbecues, they might be hosting and really just being in exchange with people. So if fire season could make a sound, it would be laughter, and it's a good time to really be working with the heart space during this time. So if you read the monthly newsletter, it's all about feeling whole, and the mantra of the month was I feel whole and complete in my heart. So there are a few exercises and journaling prompts in the newsletter too that you can check out.

Speaker 1:

That might be helpful for gaining clarity in this area, if that's something that's coming up for you, or even finding balance within fire season, like if things feel out of balance. So from an Ayurvedic perspective, an out of balance can show up, or I guess I should say an imbalance can show up as frustration, anger, lack of patience, irritability, trouble, falling asleep, and you can also check out episode 31. That's all about Ayurveda history and insight with one of the guest experts that we had on, amira Morales, and so what I understand from the Ayurvedic perspective is that if you are mainly pitta energy so I'm vata and kapha, but you could be like overheating because you've got so much fiery energy and then it's also fire season. You've got so much fiery energy and then it's also fire season. So if any of this feels like it lands and you want to find more of a balance, or if you just want to embrace fire season, here are some things that you could do. So the first is eating cooling foods things like cucumber, watermelon, and not necessarily cold, but just cool and trying not to allow yourself to overheat, so not spending too much time outdoors, drinking lots of water and also getting in the water. So getting in the ocean, going swimming, these are all things that can help you bring you back into balance from an Ayurvedic perspective. And then here are some other activities in general that will help you to connect with joy, help you to connect with love, with transformation, with expansion and with growth so all of the elements of fire season. Okay.

Speaker 1:

So the first thing that you could do is make yourself a playlist with all of your favorite high energy songs. So I like to use Spotify because I love their recommended music. They like know what I like by this point. So I just have a playlist. I called it jams and I just add to that as I go throughout the year I do it and then usually I I'll go through and I'll like remove songs if I don't like them anymore, or something like that, but make yourself a playlist with all of your favorite high energy songs, blast it in the car, dance around your house, do whatever you can to connect with music and movement. And then the second you know spending time with your friends, having a barbecue, having a game night, being in community, going to in-person classes, doing things that will help you to feel connected to other people and get you in conversation and get you in exchange of energy with other people.

Speaker 1:

And the third is kind of building off of the first one, but moving your body in some way. So this could be anything. This could be like joining a team for the summer. So where I live, beach volleyball is a big thing, but for you it could be pickleball, it could be softball, it could be anything. Maybe taking a class in your community. This could be a yoga class, a Pilates class, a walking group. It could really be anything. Going to the gym, going for a run, like really allowing your energy to move through you with movement, will really, really support you during fire season.

Speaker 1:

And then the fourth thing, of course, I have to mention breathwork, because every day I am more and more surprised by this practice and what it can do for your body and what it can do for your soul. And I just am so grateful for the practice of breathwork and for how much it's supported me in my personal life and how much it supports my clients, and I just love doing this work in the world. So finding breathwork whether that's a one-on-one session, whether that's a group class, whether that's a class in your community it could be anything, or even a YouTube video finding a breathwork practice that supports you and really allows you to connect with your breath, connect with your body and shift and move any energy that might be coming up for you that's no longer serving you. And then the fifth thing that I would suggest activity that you could do is acupuncture or massage. I think that acupuncture has really just surprised me. It's something that I recently started doing. I absolutely love it. It's so relaxing, it's so nourishing. I just kind of meditate and maybe even fall asleep on the table. I'm not really sure, but all I know is that it's working and I always feel so good after, and for a few days too. So check out acupuncture, schedule a massage with your favorite massage therapist, like whatever it might be. Really attend to your body and let yourself rest so that all that fire energy that you have going on can be in community and can be going outwards. So take a little bit of time for yourself to connect with yourself as well.

Speaker 1:

And then the last thing that I will mention for fire season is that this might be something that is a bit bigger. You know, maybe it's a planned event, but something like going on a trip, going on a vacation, going to a festival, spending the weekend at a friend's house, spending the weekend on the water, maybe somewhere like a lake house or the beach or in nature, like kind of taking a bigger trip. Definitely a planned, planned kind of experience that you would have had to plan in advance. But there's still time, you can still fit something in in august maybe. Um, and of course there's, you know, a pricier component to going away. But allowing yourself the time and space to be on an adventure, even if it's just a staycation in the place where you are giving yourself that luxury of being on a vacation, will really serve you during the prior season. All right, so that is what we have for today's episode.

Speaker 1:

I will be back with another episode for you in August, and on August 23rd I cannot believe it, but it will be one year of the podcast. So I'd really like to do two things. The first is I want to celebrate because I am so surprised and it's such a huge milestone, and when you're an entrepreneur, you can kind of just get caught up in the next thing and accomplishing the next thing, and I really just want to pause and be grateful for what I have and be grateful for my community, and so I will be celebrating that accomplishment. And I'd also really like to do some kind of giveaway for listeners like you, because I am so grateful that you're here and I just love this community so much and what we've created, and so I'm working on what that would look like. If you have any ideas of something that you'd like to receive for a giveaway, you let me know, but in the meantime, stay tuned I'll be doing some sort of giveaway around that one year mark and I'm just so excited, so grateful.

Speaker 1:
