Hello Free Spirit's, 
 
 this episode is all about

*how do we know we are safe

*how does safety feel in the body

*concepts why we might not feel safe in the body

 

And therefore…

Why it’s essential to understand ourselves inside out to build our frame of reference, and our awareness to enable change – expressing our authentic self and living in alignment with our values. 

 

I was deeply fascinated to learn about the Polyvagal Theory by Stephen Porges, the different nervous system states our body can tap into.

 

And that it is normal within a healthy nervous system to go into alert (danger), feel, act accordingly, and then regulate into calm again.

 

However, when we are holding stress over a very long period our body shuts down – it’s simply too much FREEZE, FAWN response. No one taught us how to self-regulate.

 

When I came out of FUNCTIONAL FREEZE everything felt overwhelming, so it was like a constant ping pong between feeling/overwhelm/freeze/feeling/overwhelm….

 

This is exhausting. I get that. That’s why it’s important to build safety in the body, to learn how to become aware of what happens inside of the body to self-regulate. It’s not only about releasing. The deeper we build a mindful embodiment connection to ourselves, the more we start trusting and learning to navigate ourselves again and not being drawn into overwhelm. 

 

Within the next episodes, I invite you to experience your body mindfully, to reconnect to yourself on a deeper level.

 

You are the boss; allow all the time you need. Being bored of these practices may be a hint of the avoider inside of us playing its role not wanting to feel or bypass.
