I see the “Window of Tolerance”, a term coined by Daniel J. Siegel, being taught at school in the future. I found this essential to learn to feel “Where am I right now”. 

 

Am I:

 

Calm, regulated?

In chaos, quickly bursting into anger, or fleeing from the situation?

In rigidity, not feeling any emotions/sensations, kind of foggy in my brain?

 

Often it felt like a dance to feel and not feel – this is very draining.

 

However, the more I allowed myself to widen my window of tolerance the more sensations came back. It’s like building up an emotional landscape, understanding your body’s language, and acting accordingly.

 

Additionally, you can do this 7-day reflection on "Where am I". We are getting into a bird's view to get a clear picture of our day/life. It's about consciously observing and noticing our day, our thoughts, our emotions...anything that is present right now.
