I'm back with more mid-year magic, my friend. This is the second in a series of four episodes that help you explore a middle-of-the-year process you can use to replace New Year's resolutions. Keep listening for a beneficial way to spend your next seven days.

Before I go any further into this episode, I want to encourage you to listen to last week's episode if you missed it. It's seven and a half minutes long, gives you some background about why I do a mid-year process, and walks you through phase one, which is reflection. 

I also give you some valuable tips that help you reflect if it's new to you or you find it difficult. 

Those tips will help you with the second phase too, which is today's topic, and that is review your reflections. 

The review phase is all about noticing the patterns, aspirations, and areas for change that emerge from your reflections. It's an opportunity to take stock of where you are and dream about where you want to be in 12 months.

Of course, I have prompts to get you started! 

Grab your journal, notebook, or favorite app, my friend. If now isn't a good time for note-taking, that's okay. Listen through to the end so you know what to expect. I'll drop a time marker in the show notes and transcript so you can land right here when you do want to take notes.

Once you feel your reflections are complete, it's time to move on to the review phase. I have six prompts here for you. 

  • What patterns and themes do you notice in your reflections? 
  • How might those patterns and themes guide you over the next 12 months?
  • What are you excited about when you review your reflections? 
  • How might your excitement guide you over the next 12 months? 
  • Where do you notice the need for knowledge, growth, or change? 
  • How might these needs guide you over the next 12 months? 

As you did with your reflections, spend time over the week with your review. Can you keep going with a commitment of at least 10 minutes a day? 

I like to write each of these prompts in my journal and then add my thoughts and observations as they come to me. Reviewing my reflections, looking at what I wrote last week, and noticing those patterns, noticing what excites me, and feeling where I want to gain knowledge, grow more, or create change - that is all there in my journal.

So I write each of these prompts, on different pages, and I just start spending time with them throughout the week. For me, a morning time is when I feel that it's best for me. You do what feels best for you, my friend. 

The reason I write them and then revisit them is because my subconscious is always processing behind the scenes. Yours is always working, too, so those lightbulb moments might pop up when you least expect them. Maybe even in the shower!  That's where a lot of mine come to me. 

When you review your mid-year reflections, you pave the way to a more intentional, fulfilling, and well-rounded life. The patterns and themes you notice help you understand what brings you joy or stresses you out. The aspirations you recognize, the things you're excited about, allow you to declare a direction and set clear objectives. The areas where you seek growth and change help you expand into your best life. 

Pause here for just a moment, my friend, to imagine how you might benefit through the thoughtful completion of the review phase.
