They walk you through my thought process and the reflection and review phases. Of course, they include helpful tips, too. Now it's time to reset. This episode builds on the review phase, where you find space to notice where you want to start something new, create change, or form new habits.

Yes, this phase includes a few prompts to get you thinking.

Grab your journal, notebook, or favorite app, my friend. If now isn't a good time for note-taking, that's okay.

Listen through to the end so you know what to expect. I'll drop a time marker in the show notes and transcript to make it easy to return to this spot in the episode.

The reset phase is where you choose the stepping stones that give you a solid footing for the next 12 months. There are two steps in this phase.

First, it's important to find clarity and insight from the thoughtful reflection and review phases that you've completed. I have four prompts to help with this. 

  • As I moved through the reflect and review phases, I couldn't stop thinking about…
  • I now have more clarity about…
  • The answer feels obvious. This is how I feel good and move forward…
  • I don't want to go another year without this in my life...

As with the reflect and review phases, do your best to spend time with these prompts daily. Your subconscious mind works behind the scenes as you go about your day, so don't be surprised when thoughts come to you unexpectedly. Have a place where you can jot them down so they don't slip away. 

In my experience, a few answers or strategies show themselves in the review phase. Then, in this, the reset phase, it becomes clear how those can help me move throughout the 12 months. That is clarity coming to light. I choose these to be my stepping stones.

And that is the next step here in the reset phase, my friend. What has solidified for you as you think and write with the prompts I just gave you? What are the ideas you feel so good about? What do you know in your heart and soul that the next 12 months have in store for you?

Think of your stepping stones as spots to land and ground yourself over the next year. Rather than a checklist or a goal, select stepping stones that will be there for you throughout the year. 

For me, I might choose a big dream that inspires me, a routine that keeps me feeling my best, and a boundary that keeps me from sliding backwards. Choose the number of stepping stones that feel right for you.

Three happens to be my sweet spot. I find it easier and less overwhelming to have no more than that.
