Hey everyone, welcome back!! I'm Coach Valerie. I don’t know if I’ve told you in a while but, and as always, your support and engagement mean the world to me. I love that I get to lift you as navigate your unique journey of parenting children with disabilities. I do see you, I hear you and I’m here to walk alongside you!
Listen up…. I have something incredibly exciting to share with you all, but before we dive into today's topic, mark your calendars for September 9th at 4pm MST.
And why you may ask???
Because I'll be hosting a special seminar that's designed just for you moms, and dads - especially those of you who are planning for a secure future for your children.
I've been working on something truly transformative, and I'm thrilled to finally unveil it.
This is one event you won't want to miss, and I'll be sharing more details throughout this episode.
So, why have I organized this seminar?
As many of you know, I've been on a personal journey of planning and creating a secure future for my own children with disabilities. Through a lot of hard work and experience, I've developed a comprehensive strategy to help other special needs moms, and dads, do the same. This seminar is a culmination of all that knowledge and practical advice, and it's tailored specifically for busy parents.
During the seminar, called "Guardians of Tomorrow: Create a Roadmap for your child with disabilities’ Forever Home.”
We'll cover 3 topics:
1. Long-Term Needs Assessment
2. Financial Planning Tips
3. Legal Considerations
Each segment is designed to provide you with actionable steps and hands-on tools that you can implement immediately. This isn't just about theoretical knowledge; it’s about giving you the confidence and resources you need for future planning.
Scott and I have created Eden House for our oldest. Our eldest has cerebral palsy and is total care. She is g-tube fed, wheelchair bound and uses a communication device and is basically considered medically complex. We always thought we would be caring for her until we died. We dreamed of our daughter living independent of us, but could not see how that could be possible.
It is possible….
We have been able to set her up to live independent of us!! She has two house mates, and an agency provide 24-hour care with at least one staff doing an awake night shift. We are blessed to have a one-to-one staff to client ratio, and in addition, a house coordinator and a recent addition of a supervisor.
Our youngest is 19 and we have been scaffolding assistance as they transition to becoming more independent. This child has ADHD and is a high functioning autistic person. We developed half of our basement into a legal self-contained suite so they could grow to greater independence under our roof so to speak.
They have not moved in as yet, because they are not quite ready to take that step. The suite is there for when they are ready. In the meantime, we continue to take away scaffolding as they are able to handle an increase in life-skill development.
Now, I understand how overwhelming it can be to think about the future. It was for us! So many questions, and not much belief we could pull it off!
What have we learned????
It would have been so much easier to create a plan when we were NOT in crisis mode!!
The peace of mind that comes with having a plan in place is truly invaluable. My goal is to guide you through this process with clarity, ease, and support.
What will you gain by joining the seminar?
1. Confidence in Long-Term Planning
You will have the start of a detailed and actionable plan for your child's future, bringing peace of mind and a sense of direction.
2. Financial Security
You will have considered a structured and sustainable financial strategy ensuring resources to support your child's needs.
