Welcome to the Law Training Centre Legal Navigator Podcast with your host Rebecca Ogunmayun.

This week, Rebecca spoke with Emma Taylor, Partner and Head of the Family Department at GoodLaw Solicitors LLP.

Having turned down a position at the Bar, Emma had some interesting insights about alternative routes to qualification and pursuing the right career for you. Plus, we got to hear about her interesting journey to a career in family law and how she made her way up to becoming head of the department.

"Whatever you do, build your people skills. If you think you want to be in a client facing practice area and by that I mean the ones where you're dealing with individuals on a day to day basis rather than perhaps commercial or corporate, which may require different skills, build those people skills by being able to adapt yourself so that you are relatable to a client from any walk of life."
