TJ:

Hey friends, it's TJ, and you're listening to Tea with TJ, where our love for tea, conversation and self-improvement intersect. So let's take a deeper dive into my cup and let's have a chat. Hey friends, it's TJ. Welcome to another episode of Tea with TJ. I am your host, tj, and we're going to jump right in.

TJ:

So today I am having a tea called Puerh. It is very deep in flavor. It's quite delicious. It's a pressed Puerh. So if you've never seen Puerh before, they usually come in cakes like these little round discs, and the tea is aged and pressed into this like cake form and then aged for a little bit of time. I'm having a sticky rice Puerh. It's so delicious, y'all. It is so delicious, it's quite yummy. It actually tastes like sticky rice. There was a place in St Louis when I was on tour that had this. I had never had it before and I have become hooked. I'll link that for those who want to try it out.

TJ:

So patience, is. It can be troubling right. Patience for yourself, patience for others, patience for situations it it can take a lot to be patient. But I just wanted to quickly hop in here for a second and really talk about what it means to be , right, and knowing that things take time. I've gotten to a place in my life where patience is everything for me. So I have, thankfully, always been a person with a little bit of patience. I don't know where I got it from, because my parents are not those people, but I have always had this sense of waiting and being okay in the waiting, and it's truly been a benefit to me as an adult when it came to certain encounters of having to be able to, you know, be patient and let things happen in their own time. Quick example acting is something that you definitely have to be with. Living in New York City, there are there are so many encounters that require you to be patient and to wait and allow the time to pass, and there's no getting around it. But on a deeper level, there are going to be moments in your life where you're going to need to lean on that spirit Because things take time. Right, that job, that relationship that's not doing so well, that house or that new apartment or that new lifestyle right, that new lifestyle that you're trying to build for yourself, so you can be better for yourself. Those things take time and it's going to require a lot of patience for you to get there, and so you know we talk about being present right, taking time for yourself. I think being present and being patient go hand in hand.

TJ:

We've talked about how tea itself is one of those things that allows me to be present and it really allows me to refocus recenter, to ground myself and to be present in the moment, to sip the tea and understand all of its nuances and enjoy it right and revel in it and live in it In that same breath. Patience is a part of that and you know, for those of you who drink loose leaf tea, you know you know that it takes about a good 10 minutes to enjoy a cup of tea. There are steps. There is getting your kettle or whatever you're using to bring your water to temperature, preparing the tea, steeping the tea and then bringing that to your cup and then ultimately enjoying it. And each sip right is is a deeper dive into the tea itself, where you're allowed to fully immerse yourself in that cup, and it's not one of those things that you can rush right.

TJ:

Whereas espresso, it is a completely different experience, whereas tea is very intentional and it's thought out and planned, and so life can be a lot like that sometimes, where in order for you to get to from point A to point B, there's going to be time in between those points, but then also there's going to need to be some sense of patience in that. Life is a lot like that you have to pour into yourself and continue to be present, spend time with yourself and invest in yourself to then become this, this better version of you. Oftentimes, we get so caught up in not knowing what the first step is right, not knowing how to get from point A to point B and truthfully, this is what I've learned Truthfully, sometimes it's better that you don't know, it's better to learn as you go, because then you have more grace with yourself and you have more patience with yourself and you can kind of enjoy the ride a little bit. So take this with you, friends just take the first step. Doesn't matter what the journey is or how we get there. Just take that first step and that's our show.
