Speaker 1:

Okay, so we are still here at the Bolliver Street the old Bolliver Station songwriter festival, and we are here with Kim Ewing, one of the artists that has been in the festival yesterday.

Speaker 2:

Welcome, kim, thank you so much it's been so exciting it really has.

Speaker 1:

Awesome, so tell us about yourself.

Speaker 2:

Well, I am originally from Dallas, texas. You know, my last name is Ewing, like JR on it, so I'm glad when that movie came on because everybody could pronounce my name now they used to could. But I've been playing music, gosh, I've been writing longer than I've been playing. I've been writing since I was, gosh, 10 years old, and then I picked up the guitar. When I'm in my 20s, when I was 21, I picked up the guitar, learned to play my first song and then from there I just kept on writing and started to get involved in anything I could.

Speaker 1:

So what was that first song?

Speaker 2:

Well, the first song that I learned was a copy tune, actually, and it was, I'm Easy by Keith Charity.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

And then a lady taught me that's how she taught me on the guitar. And then from there I just took off and the first original song I wrote was a Christian song, and that's where all my songwriting started, and that was could it be? I don't even remember the lyrics anymore, but I'll never forget the title.

Speaker 1:

Awesome. So how did you hear about the Songwriter Festival?

Speaker 2:

I actually saw it advertised on Facebook and I did not. I thought what the heck? And I filled out the application and you guys invited me to come. And it's gosh. It's been more than I expected, oh wonderful.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, facebook for all the world that we don't like Facebook, it sure works out for things like this. I know, yeah, there's so many reasons I don't like it, but it's great for musicians now and it's great for advertising everything. And you know, when I saw it too, that y'all got, y'all were having wrong rhymes yes, you know, I thought, wow, I can't pass that up either. And that the seminar that he did for us was wow, just amazing. And the song I gotta tell you the other songwriters that are here, everybody is so good yeah.

Speaker 1:

Awesome. Yeah, very nice people too. Oh, everybody has been so wonderful to work with. Yes, I am so. So are you sticking around for the, for the festival? Are you gonna hang out for a while? Yeah, I'm gonna hang out.

Speaker 2:

I've been listening I played it too, and it bears Kev.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And then I've just been roaming around listening to everybody else and I've been hanging around a little bit longer. But gosh, I'll always remember this. It's been a lot of fun. Thank you so.

Speaker 1:

Awesome. Well, we'd love to have you back next year, so, of course, okay, yes, ma'am, I sure will Awesome.

Speaker 2:

Now, if people are looking for you, where do they find you? On Facebook under Kim Ewing E-W-I-N-G. I have a Kim Ewing listeners page, but also just my regular profile page. Excuse me, I'm there as well. I'm there for you too. All the regulars, right? Yeah, and I play around East Texas quite a bit.

Speaker 1:

So Okay, right, where do you usually play? At East Texas.

Speaker 2:

I play at a lot of the wineries, like Green Goat Winery and Bullard. It's Moody Family Wines used to be M6. And I play at Kitchen's Hardware and Deli and Miniola every other Friday.

Speaker 1:

Okay, miniola.

Speaker 2:

Miniola Nice.

Speaker 1:
