I apologize for all the "likes" and "corrects" I say in this episode as I was just so freaking happy to be finally telling her story! The title says it all. This woman defied all the odds that are put on us as a birthing society from the medical system. Her first birth ending in an "emergency C Section" due to "failure to progress" at the hospital. She started with home birth, but when that 42 week date came and passed her midwife had her try all the "natural induction methods" including that pesky castor oil. Nothing worked. (Because her body and baby weren't ready) So she reluctantly transferred care to the hospital where the induction process began (foley bulb, ripening cream, breaking water.... the waterfall of interventions we talk about) and she labored without pain medication for days (and pitocin contractions are no joke y'all!) before getting the epidural and ultimately being labled as "failure to progress" at 4cm dilated. Her C Section recovery, as well as breastfeeding journey were difficult. So when she got pregnant again, she took the power into her own hands by assembling her team that would support her decisions every step of the way! And we did 10000%. Yovana had the ultimate test of patience, trust, and surrender in this journey. Above all, her faith in the Lord was so strong and she trusted that everything would all be ok. And it was.
With being an HBAC (home birth after a c section), to going past 42 weeks (she went to 43.1), to her baby floating high and doing gymnastics and going from head down to breech to head down at 42 weeks... this mama is the Ultimate inspiration to any woman who was induced at 42 weeks, had a C Section, and wants to do an HBAC!  Find a practitioner who supports it, go birth in a state where it is "legal", and trust your body!
