Somatic work in birth is important for several reasons:

    1.    Trauma resolution: Somatic practices, such as body-centered therapy or somatic experiencing, can help individuals process and release any physical or emotional trauma experienced during childbirth. This can be especially beneficial for mothers who may have undergone a difficult or traumatic birth experience or even a woman who was exposed to birth trauma by story (that energy is sticky y'all).

    2.    Bonding and attachment: Somatic practices can facilitate bonding and attachment between the parent and the newborn by promoting positive physical interactions and touch. This can help strengthen the parent-child relationship and promote a sense of security and trust in the infant.

    3.    Pain management: Somatic techniques, such as breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and movement therapies, can help manage pain and discomfort during labor and delivery. By learning how to tune into their bodies and regulate their physical responses, individuals can better cope with the sensations of childbirth.

    4.    Postpartum recovery: Somatic practices can support postpartum recovery by promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and physical healing. This can be particularly helpful for mothers recovering from cesarean sections or other birth interventions, as well as for addressing any lingering physical discomfort or tension.

    5.    Holistic well-being: Somatic work takes a holistic approach to health and well-being, addressing the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. By incorporating somatic practices into the birthing process, individuals can support their overall health and vitality, both during and after childbirth. This especially goes into breastfeeding and how the flow of oxytocin is important.

Overall, somatic work plays a valuable role in promoting a positive and empowering birth experience, facilitating healing and recovery, and supporting the physical and emotional well-being of both parent and child. If you would like to join one of my somatic and empowerment workshops visit my website and upcoming events to purchase your ticket! This is good for a first time mom, VBAC/HBAC or redemptive birth, or even a mom in postpartum (at least 6 months postpartum) who feels dis-regulated or disconnected and wants to align with their body again. The space is limited so tickets will go fast.
